    Dichotomy of Love

    I'm hurt.
  7. Oh.... and a new story??
  8. Poor Kyan. He's been dealt a hard blow. It's hard enough being young and having that many kids with a spouse. I couldn't imagine doing it as a single parent. He has a tough road ahead of him.

    Chapter 1

Regardless of a person's beliefs, I think anyone who strives to be a decent person abides by some sort of moral compass. Steven may or may not have figured things out yet, but it seems like he's found someone who will support him on his journey, wherever it may lead.
  10. I technically know how to drive a stick. I mean.... if it came down to the only escape route from the zombie apocalypse was me and a 1973 bright banana yellow Ford Fiesta hatchback 4 speed... we might have a fighting chance 🤣 (Stop laughing @Wayne Gray)
  11. To me mystery stories are like the comfort food of the literary world. A staple you need at every potluck. This fits the bill.
  12. Thanks Reader. I just got home. Still a feeling meh, but not horrible. Getting home was an amusing adventure. One coworker gave me a ride there. When it was time to go another coworker had a few too many beers so they asked me to drive because we live close and I hadn't had anything other than water. Sure. "Can you drive a stick?" Ummm... yeah, but it's been about 20 years. The car is a 15 yr old Chevy clunker. The key is stuck in the ignition. I swear my toes hit the front bumper trying to push the clutch in and of course the #s on the shift have long since been worn into oblivion. He worked the stick. I drove and pushed the clutch. Only stalled twice. Not too bad. Par for the course in my world. Lol.
  13. Off to a housewarming get together for a coworker tonight. Although I probably won't stay too long. My stomach has been a bit wonky the past few days. We'll see. Stay cool everyone!

    Chapter 1

While there are no rainbows or unicorns in this story it does have a happy ending. Lol. Alternate worlds are always fun to delve into, especially as a writer. You get to make up your own rules. Although it seems in this realm, societal prejudices aren't too much different from what we can find right here. Sometimes we don't even have to look very far. I am glad it ended on a positive note. Well done Secret Author.
  15. Aren't you a little cheeky today? Or would that be tim? 😉

    Chapter 1

    I suppose you'd like a couple of 🦄 s too
  17. Those things give me an anxiety attack. Seriously.... there is no reason whatsoever that for a normal exam anyone should have to remove anything above the waist. There's nothing that can't be pushed or pulled out of the way for the 30 seconds it takes the doctor to look/feel. Any bottom bits can be covered with a decent drape cloth. I break out in a cold sweat whenever I see those gowns, cloth or paper. Paper is definitely worse.
  18. My brother texted me yesterday that Florida could take its weather back. I told him I was reconsidering my stance on never wanting to deal with ice and snow again. How bad could it be? This week it's been hot enough to melt your soul. We hit a "feels like" of 113 on Wednesday. It's brutal.

    Chapter 1

Secret Author needs a shot of sunshine. Unfortunately, there are too many kids like Joel, thrown out by parents who don't deserve that title. Hopefully, Joel finds happiness. This is a story that deserves a few more chapters. I agree with @Bill W, inquiring minds want to know.
  20. Three down. Eight to go.
  21. My little dog, Camden, doesn't hear as well as he used to. Sometimes I have to call him a few times before he even twitches. But if I open anything that crinkles, snaps or pops... he's scrambling up on all four paws and at my feet in a heartbeat. Lol. Have a good everyone!

    Chapter 1

Wow. This one hits right in the heart. I agree with @Mancunian, it is a hard, disturbing, true to life and an emotional read. I even agree with @Mrsgnomie that love isn't always enough. It must be incredibly difficult to make the decision to cut someone you love out of your life, or even to take them back. Kudos Secret Author. This is another story whose style I feel I've read before. I suck at remembering names and I've read so many stories on this site I can only match up a few authors to their stories. Can't wait for the reveal.

    Chapter 1

Jan 4 I’ve got a secret. I realize now that those four words whispered so long ago started my downfall. My therapist, Simon, suggested I start a journal. To bare my soul, as he succinctly put it. He seemed surprised when I said I had no idea what I would write. You see, I’m an author by trade. I make my living weaving words into stories that somehow turn into bestsellers. I feel like a fraud. I started writing to escape into worlds I could control. Later, it helped me deal
