Hmmmm, a curry dinner is now only a 7.5 hour drive away 🚘. With fresh bread too! 🤤

We primarily use the microwave to heat stuff up. If you use it to melt butter those covers sure do come in handy! Also... who's actually going to 'fess up to blowing up an egg in the microwave? 🙋♀️

Its those plastic dome-cover thingys that you put over a plate or bowl so food doesn't splatter in the microwave. We have a microwave that's mounted above the stove so keeping it stored inside the microwave makes sense (at least to me) I have quickly discovered that my MIL is a slob in the kitchen. She has an orange every morning and stands at the sink to eat it. Do you think the peel ever makes it to the trash can? I'm going out today to run some errands and tonight we're going to a friend's for pizza. It should be a good day. Enjoy it everyone!

Ok.. I need to know if I'm justified in screaming inside my head every time I have to put the microwave cover back inside the microwave... where it belongs when not in use... not on top of the stove or on the counter where there no room! Let me know if you store your microwave cover inside the microwave when you're not using it or if you have a designated other spot for it. The kitchen at my MIL's house is small. I've spent a ungodly amount of hours cleaning and reorganizing it and it may seem insignificant but its one of those pet peeves that is driving me crazy.

She's going to complain about it no matter what. I just take a page from the kid's movie Madagascar:

OMFG.. This made my night. We've spent ALL DAY working on swapping bedrooms with my son. There's been a delay in moving my son over to my Sister-in-law's. Their wild child black kitty was supposed to get fixed at the end of this month but he had to go and get an abcess in his paw and they couldn't get another appointment until October 25ish. We want him calmed down before introducing him to our kitty. Our son was sleeping on a twin size pull out sofa bed and it was not meant for someone built like a 6'2" NFL linebacker. We asked and reminded my MIL several times that we were switching rooms and what does she say to me? "I wish you asked before you rearranged the whole house." Shoot me. Just freaking shoot me. Three trips to Home Depot for the right hardware for the beds and some if the screws were stripped and we're still not done . . Off to finish.

The trifle went over quite well. The liquor just adds flavor, so unless youre willing to consume about 2lbs of trifle, the booze doesn't affect you (unlike the 3 craft beers I consumed). @weinerdog, I don't do whiskey very often anymore as a) I'm not stress drinking like I was a few years ago, and b) it doesnt always agree with me. Its not worth having a stomachache. I'll still have it occasionally but its more like once every couple of months rather than every weekend. @spyke, a once in a blue moon sugar coma is acceptable. Its one of those things I only make for potlucks or a family gathering. @Mikiesboy, I think I need to make an eggnog trifle this Christmas. What a great idea!

I made a chocolate peanut butter trifle so I had to make a chocolate cake. I also made whipped cream and blended it with whipped cream cheese, peanut butter, chocolate liquor, peanut butter whiskey (about 2 shots of each). Then crushed oreos and nutter butters. Oh... and chocolate pudding. The layers went like this; Cake Whipped mixture Cookies Pudding Cake Whipped mixture Pudding Cookies I messed up the order I usually put them in but it really doesn't matter. I'm pretty sure they're not going to notice.

We're off to the store to get groceries. We've been invited to a cookout this afternoon and a chocolate peanut butter trifle has been requested. Guess I'm baking this afternoon. Have a good day everyone!

You can get through a lot of yarn in four hours. 😁

Don't make me get out the muzzle....again.

I'm hoping it gets better. I just spent nearly 3 hours of my day on the phone with Florida unemployment again trying to figure out what the hold up is. So far they now owe me 7 weeks of payments. oh well.. they're actively working on it. I'm not holding my breath. On a better note, anthology story is done. Changes have been made and its in the hands of the final editor. It'll get sent once the final tweaks are made Have a good weekend everyone! Oh! And I finally heard back from the new job. They offered some more money and as long as the background check clears I have a start date of Sept 22 (don't worry @spyke, the bodies will never be found lol).

Noodle welts? Hmmmm. I'm sure somebody could make it work.

Oops... I was reading on my phone and I blame the tiny font. 🤣

I toss some butter in with the onions when they're cooking overnight. Not a lot, maybe 1 tbsp per pound of onion.
-
That could either be fun or gross. 🤔
-
It really does bring out a wonderful flavor when you cook them that way. I hope you enjoy it!
-
That's the best way to cook onions for onion soup.... enjoy!

Omg... those look good too! I can attest to the fact that fluffernutter sandwiches are a New England, specifically Massachusetts thing. Growing up, school lunch was either fluffernutters or bologna sandwiches. Has to be on Wonder white for the best flavor.

Went to Aldi yesterday. They have decent fresh baked cookies. At the check out, my husband was perusing the seasonal selection of cookies and pastries. Lo and behold... a new discovery: Fluffernutter cookies... peanut butter cookie with mini-marshmallows and peanut butter chips. WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS NOW???!!!! GENIUS!!!

Being in Florida was part of why writing took a back seat. Once my parents were gone, there wasn't really anything tying me there. The last three years were pretty rough mentally and emotionally with a lot going on. Moving was the best decision I could have made. I have two stories started and I'll have something for the anthology. I dont know which of the two stories will be finished first.

Ok... I have to admit.... when I was living in Florida I didn't do much in the way of going out and socializing. Being a substitute for Bunco a couple of times a year was as social as I got. Now that I'm home I'm discovering a whole slew of opportunities. Last night we met a friend and her husband for dinner and then we went to see Unforgettable Fire. They're a U2 cover band. The show was great and I swear the lead singer was a Bono clone. The venue was really cool. It was an old meeting house that was abandoned and pretty run down until a couple bought it a few years ago and did a complete renovation. Now they use it primarily for cover band concerts. We'll definitely be seeing a few more shows. The Candlelight Concert series has shows in this area too. We might try to go see the Coldplay/Imagine Dragons one. I'd love to go see the Queen show but the damn State of Florida still hasn't paid me the 5 weeks they owe me and I don't start work for another week. Also... I went to the meat store today to stock up on stuff. When I got home my MIL looked at me and said "your shirt is on inside out". 🤦♀️ Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
