  1. Work stress really, really, really sucks.
  2. I can totally relate. I take melatonin, and usually 4-5 ibuprofen pm every night and I still wake up every couple of hours. I have no idea when the last time was that I slept through the night. Definitely before I had kids... so close to 25 years? I'm used to it. Most nights I wake up because I'm roasting hot, even without the covers on me, A/C set on 72 and a fan blowing at me. If you find something that works, please share! Hope everyone has a good week!
  3. My Noom program teaches that too. Yesterday's lesson? Take the day off. No logging food. No logging water. No tracking steps. No lessons. Just do something for yourself. Sometimes it's hard to slow down, but @spyke is right... It's self care..... and it's important. Have a good day everyone!

    Chapter 21

Johnny, hmmmm πŸ€”. Definitely more than meets the eye with him. Should be interesting to see where on Will's sliding scale of friends he ends up. Great chapter.

  6. Twenty years ago I was on my second day of training for a new job with Liberty Travel. It was in Mahwah, NJ, about 15-20 miles outside of NYC. There were 37 of us in the class. Three weeks later only 12 of us still had jobs. The travel industry took a massive blow. My husband was on a plane from Hartford to Baltimore. He flew over NYC about 20-25 minutes before the first tower was hit. He saw the iconic skyline through crystal clear skies and he remembers thinking 'what an awesome sight'. When we heard the news, I had nearly an hour of near panic anxiety, not know what airline was involved. We finally connected mid-afternoon. I was never so relieved to hear his voice. A few of my fellow trainees and I took a ride that afternoon. When we came around a corner and the smoke filled skyline filled our sight, we were stunned. Tears flowed freely. I still get chills when I see the images from that day. One I will never forget.
  7. I've been coloring my hair since my early 20s. At this point I have to look at old pictures of me to remember what the heck my real color used to be. Pretty sure it's close to 100% gray by now. I like changing up the color scheme. I loved the blue/black I did earlier this year. Right now it's something called 'rich caviar', really dark brown, with maroonish-purple roots. It's OK. The only color I've never done is blonde. I wish I knew about that place in DC when I lived in Maryland. I would've been all over that! Hope everyone is having a good week! P.S. New Marvel movie is out.....guess what we're doing for date night? πŸ€”πŸ€πŸ™„
  8. So how did it come out? And what color did you do?
  9. Oh...he is dumb. He dropped one washcloth on the floor where his blankie usually is. Pretty sure he though his 40lb butt would fit on a 6Γ—6 inch scrap of cloth. 🀣
  10. Congratulations! It sounds like you had a beautiful day! ❀
  11. I'm pretty sure my big dog is not happy with me. I took his blanket out of the closet to wash it. He retaliated by nudging the shower door open, stealing two washcloths and a sponge. When I looked at him I swear, if he could talk he would've been saying, 'So what are gonna do about it? Huh?' dumb dog πŸ™„πŸ€ͺ Hope y'all have a good night!
  12. It's been quiet for me too. Overall the week was good. The scale was finally nice to me after a month or so of up and down with not much progress. Things seem to moving in the right direction. My older son called today. It's always good to hear his voice. I miss him. My ex-sister-in-law called too and we caught up with each other. She's thinking about coming down around Christmas. I hope she does. I'm enjoying a quiet house all to myself and the puppers. They just got walked so they're happy. Enjoy the rest of the long weekend for those of you who are off!
  13. First stories are a major learning curve, but they always will be special just because.... Can't wait for the new stiff. Looking forward to it. (Kudos for working on two at once, I can't walk and chew gum at the same time!)
  14. Common sense has gone the way of the 8 track, rumble seats, landlines and manual typewriters. There will never be a cure for stupidity. This has been circulating for many years but it explains a lot: http://wiseenergy.org/Energy/Wind_Other/CommonSense.html
  15. I have that and I've found most topical stuff doesn't do too much. I'm way overdue for a physical. Yes, it’s on my agenda. Hopefully some steroid shots will get me thru the next few months. I've built up a pretty good tolerance to ibuprofen and I'm not a big fan of Tylenol. Alive is okay, but I end up building a tolerance to that too. My legs are behaving. Now my upper back is grumbling..πŸ™„πŸ˜†
  16. I had a really good workout last night. My trainer pushed me past my comfort zone and I surprised myself by what I was able to do. This morning when I woke up my legs talked to me. I kid you not. They said, "Listen up. We'll cut a deal with you. We will get you from point A to point B and that's it. Anything else, you're on your own. Push us and we will drop you like a hot potato straight to the ground. Got it?" 🀣 Happy Hump Day everyone!
  17. Give 'em hell Kitt. That's ridiculous.
  18. I really hate getting those texts that your automatic bill payment was declined. Always a moment of panic thinking the bank account is overdrawn until I realized I never changed the info when I got a new bank card. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Hope everyone is having a good day!
  19. Most of the time I'm okay with the reality of her decline. For whatever reason, it hit me different yesterday. I worked 6 years on an Alzheimers/dementia unit in a nursing home. It's tough on any kind of caregiver. Thanks for letting me vent. Today is better all around.
  20. Today was tough. I had my mom for the afternoon. She's gotten a lot worse over the past few months. She doesn't remember any names. She knows that I'm familiar, but has to be reminded that I'm her daughter. She has no clue who any of her sons are. She's a mere shell of the wonderful woman she once was. I wanted so badly to cry on the way home after I brought her back to my brother's, but I drove right into a torrential downpour so it wasn't exactly safe to bust out into tears. This really sucks.

    Chapter 20

JP is wise beyond all wise. Intelligence and insight was handed out in spades when it comes to him. He is one of the lucky ones who was born with an uncanny ability to get better and better with every year that passes. Will has come so far over the last year. Just the fact that he can stop being reactive to a situation and think things through is a testament to JP's influence on him. Will and Johnny are both under 18.... I'm thinking some sparks might be flying soon! Great job Mark!
  22. Awww... Congratulations to you and Phil! You're spot on when you say a lot has happened over the years. I'm sure there are lots of happy and beautiful memories. (Your countdown made me think...I can't remember all the moves we've done!) Enjoy your evening and each other!
  23. Ocala in February? 70 degrees, no humidity..... just sayin'. (Maybe someone should start up a Barnbnb?)
  24. Everytime the topic of discussion turns to food, I get hungry. Could you imagine a DiC potluck get together? It would need to be a long weekend, everyone makes a hot dish, cold dish and dessert each day. The spread would be incredible and the company would be amazing! I can just picture me and @mollyhousemouse swapping band mom war stories and funny things our kids did when they were little. @Wayne Gray and I would probably debate what makes a good cliffie and how many should be in a story (while imbibing some nice smooth whiskey). More than one discussion would be centered around what's the best natural remedy for achy joints. I'm sure the conversations would be lively. This is a great group of people. Let's not forget the music....oh the playlists would probably rock the roof off...lol! I think I gained a couple of pounds just thinking about this.🀣 Enjoy the rest of the weekend everbody!
  25. Well done Wayne. This is a hard concept for most people to wrap their minds around. Brandon and Dane have merely taken the first baby step, and let's face it.... a baby's first step is always a big deal. It's not going to be an easy road for either of them, but it's great that they're both willing to work together. (P.S. you had me worried with this line: He drove slowly past cabins and tent sites, though only a few tents had been pitched, thanks to the cooling, wetter weather. I seriously thought you were gonna make it rain on them all weekend!🀭)
