I can't get enough of @Mark Arbour's CAP series (Chronicles of an Academic Predator). I have been through just about every emotion possible reading his saga about the lives of JP and his extended family. Truly a masterpiece.

Yay! That's great news! Being good is overrated. Sometimes being bad is fun! 🤭

I'm glad this week is coming to an end. It's been a long one. I really do like my job, it's putting in 50+ hours a week that's exhausting. Technically I'm only required to work 45, but my bank account likes the extra hours better. I've been sticking with my commitment to go to the gym 4 or 5 days a week, so that's taking up a good chunk of some of my evenings, but it's worth it. Hope everyone has a good day. Thought I'd share my sunrise at work today here.

It's been added to my "stuff we need" list. Thanks tim!

I need to try and find this.... It says it has a similar texture and taste to roasted chestnuts, which I love!

Well bad news and good news... Bad news... my son didn't get the job he interviewed for a few weeks ago. Dumb ass mistake on his part. Good news.... his current boss is going to recommend him to be promoted to assistant manager with a $3/hr raise. Not bad for a 19yr old's part time gig. @mollyhousemouse Good luck tomorrow with Phil's appointment. @Mikiesboy Good luck figuring out your squash and I think you guys hit the jackpot with your veggie delivery service. This has been a long week. I've got another conference call with both upper managers and the maintenance guy who won't do what he's supposed to. *sigh* Hope everyone enjoys their evening.

Mystery squash sorta looks like something in the pumpkin family? Everything looks great (except for the dreaded peppers)! Enjoy!

We all have those days molly, you did the right thing. Be the taco.... we'll still love you!

A friend sent me a text this morning that made me smile: It's okay to fall apart sometimes. Tacos fall apart and we love them anyway. Hope everyone has a good day@

Just to set the record straight (pun intended🤭) ... females are the stronger sex and males weaker, right? Cuz, y'all know if guys had to actually give birth instead of incubating the future ankle biters, species across the universe would die off pretty darn quickly...🤣🤣🤣🤣 Interesting chapter. I like the spin on procreation. Wish I could've opted for incubation. Having a baby hurts like hell, even with drugs...lol!

Kids and dogs..... motivated by food!! Mine walked in today and went "oooh, what smells so good?" Me: BBQ chicken and roasted sweet potatoes and onions Him: guess I'm not eating the sandwich I bought (he put it in the fridge for later.)

Yet again, another awesome chapter! Loved all the little details. Too bad the Italian dish was just mediocre. Kinda like expecting a Michelin 5 star and getting Olive Garden. Okay..... but not what you were hankering for 🤣🤣. Funny jabs at the Trumpster too. Thanks Mark!

If you insist! Today I got a stark reminder that there are much, much harder jobs out there. Had to go to Aldi for some stuff. Their parking lot and the Red Lobster next door was filled with fire trucks and ambulances. The storage place behind Aldi was on fire. I counted 12 engines and 3 ambulances. I thought 'a bit overkill maybe', as the fire wasn't blazing out of control. It didn't dawn on me until I left work and went past the actual site and saw at least 3 more ambulances, plus the Manatee County Emergency Response mobile unit..... the heat index is still well over 100. They needed to rotate a dozen crews to battle the fire. There were several firefighters being tended to by the paramedics. I can't imagine having to battle a fire in full gear in temps over 100F. Kudos to those men and women who chose that career. I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day. Been battling a headache because I didn't have time to make coffee this morning and lack of caffeine hit me hard. Hope everyone has a good evening!

Glad they got the AC going for you! My guys work hard and they often do stuff they really don't have to. I was taught that you treat people who work for you or work with you well and everyone tends to be happier. To me spending $20 or $30 on a treat is a small price to pay to say thank you for dealing with hellacious heat! Hope everyone else is staying cool!

Right now we're in the worst stretch for heat and humidity....at least until the end of Sept/beginning of Oct. Everyday heat index is well over 100. Right now it's at 107 and it's not even the hottest part of the day. This morning I took some petty cash and went and got a variety of ice cream novelties and Italian ice for my maintenance guys. It's brutal out there.

Traffic circles only work when people know how to use them. Most people don't. I commuted from Annapolis to Arlington for almost a year when we first lived in Maryland. Straight through the heart of D.C. Worst commute ever. Took me 6 hours to get home one night because it was snowing. Still beat NYC traffic hands down.

Good morning all! Sarasota County, in all its infinite wisdom has started a major rotary/round about/traffic circle construction project at one of the biggest intersections downtown right before the start of snowbird season. They're projecting it to take 10 months (which really means 12+). It started Tuesday and let's just say I have never seen suck an incredible clusterf#@! in my life. Tuesday they closed the northbound side, which caused a minor detour for me. Yesterday northbound was opened but someone decided that rerouting the traffic heading north, to going west over the bridge, then u-turning back, crisscrossing lanes (twice) before getting back on track, was a brilliant idea. It was like being a rat in a maze and the only prize was making it thru alive. I have now completely changed my route to get to/from work. Have a good day!

Today must’ve been 'Annoying Dr. Visit Day' I had an eye Dr appointment at 1130. I left work at 1110, didn't get back until 210. Geesh..... they were short staffed and it was lunchtime. But.... eyes are okay, new glasses are ordered and I'm trying out a new kind of contact lens. Oh, and my pupils have returned to normal. No more owl eyes after having them dilated. I can see the blue iris again! While I was in the waiting area an old guy was leaving and told this joke: ( @mollyhousemouse, Phil might like this one 🤭)

It's always fun to visit Camp Refuge. I don't know why, but this made me laugh: It's only two p.m., and I'm buzzed." Dan shook his head from his camping chair. "I feel a bit dysfunctional right now." First thought that hit my brain.... 'This guy is a total lightweight.' 🤣🤣 I can only imagine how he'll feel by dinnertime...lol. Nice work Wayne, thanks for the visit. Gus and Henry are lucky to have such great parents (and such a great writer too.)

I took a stab at another poem and posted it on the Poetry topic thread here in the DiC that @Mikiesboystarted last year. Still not very comfortable in that world, but I'm willing to try and to learn. @mollyhousemouse Stay on your soapbox. One's mental health is just as important as one's physical health. Having a mental health kit is a great idea. Lately I've had a lot of ups and downs, mostly related to struggling with my physical health. Still working on it. But anyhooooo... if you're bored and want to read something mediocre, I could use some feedback on the Poetry attempt. Hope everyone has a good night!

So, it's been a while since the poetry muse has slapped me upside the head, but..... Walking the dogs tonight I was treated to a gorgeous sunset. The colors were reminiscent of gemstones and precious metals. The words were all jumbled up in my head, but here's what they morphed into: Daylight's Graceful Death I watch the sky Rays slowly fade As day faces death One final gasp Light's final breath Exhaling colors Precious gems Priceless metals The sky is ablaze Pink quartz, rose gold Pearl and opal clouds Aquamarine skies An amber sun Turns ruby red Kisses sapphire waves Garnet and gold Fading quickly Obsidian spreads Diamond lit stars Appear one by one In the onyx sky Day is no more Now yesterday Night takes a deep breath I watch the sky Darkness beckons A new night is born

You should be proud of your brother and sister-in-law. Moving forward after the loss of a child is unimaginable. Every 'first' without them, birthday, Christmas, Mothers/Father's day, seeing another child becoming an adult, must hurt tremendously. I'm not sure I could do it. I understand your pride. I feel that way whenever I talk to either of my brothers who lost their only boys. I can relate to the worry of a child far away. As parents, the worrying will never go away. It's part of the unconditional love we have for our kids. You are an amazing mom, wife, sister, aunt and friend.

Hi molly! I've been busy this week. The big boss was in town. So of course now there's more projects to work on. What sucks is they've pretty much backed my co-worker into a corner. She lives an hour away and they knew this when they hired her. She's not willing to sell her house and move closer so they're going to get someone else. At least they've hooked her up with a recruiter and are letting her stay for 90 days or until she finds something. Other than that, just work and working out. Keeping an eye on Fred, look like we're just gonna get rain dumped on us. Just what we need. *sarcastic eye roll*. I'm off to water aerobics and work. Have a good day everyone!

Love seeing JJ again. The little shit has quite grown on me. I'm thinking Will may end up kicking a hornets nest at the party! Hmmm, whatever could you be brewing Mr. Arbour?
