I truly love all the conspiracy theories surrounding the nefarious Dr. Greene. It's fun to see how many of you are way off base and how many are brushing up against the truth. One of the perks of being the author..... if y'all get too close, I can always edit!!🤭
As far as Kyle's parents. They went through a legitimate agency. They wound up with an illegitimate adoption. Keep in mind this was the 80s.... I spent every one of my teenage years in this decade. (Yay...big hair!) My parents were smart people, my mom was a teacher, my dad had his own business. They were effing clueless when it came to recognizing underhanded tactics. They were raised to trust doctors. If the doctor told you to give your baby a teaspoon of whiskey to quiet it down.... you did it. No one questioned medical professionals back then.
Also 24 hour access to news was just starting. Social media and Google didn't exist. Exposure to these types of heinous crimes was limited to the evening news with Peter Jennings, Dan Rather or David Brinkley and whatever was printed in your local paper. The disappearance of three girls in Northern Connecticut might not have made into the news in Southern Connecticut. That's just how it was.
Kyle's parents were uneasy with the whole thing and then when they were threatened... they caved. I really don't think they knew anything immoral was going on. Plain and simple. Humans are fallible. Mistakes are made every day and this one was a doozy for them.
