    Chapter 9

Peter's attitude may be one born from a different generation, where men are not supposed to show emotion and should be stoic in all situations, especially emotional ones. I'm thinking back to when he let his guard down when talking with Scott in an earlier chapter, or maybe he suspects Justin is gay and just doesn't know how to handle it, to his generation being gay is not manly. On the other hand, I'm sure Justin's mum knows more than she is admitting and has come to terms with it and is accepting of her son unconditionally because of her love for him, good old mum. I know Justin and Scott are looking forward to a day of getting to know each other better, in every sense of the phrase but, like others have commented, maybe Scott has tempted fate with his comments leaving us to wait and see what else can go wrong.
  2. There is only one thing to say, it's beautiful.
  3. I appreciate that Clo, but to be honest I'm used to it, I've had kidney problems for most of my life. Things just struck a chord with me today when speaking with the doctors, they reminded me that tomorrow will mark 30 years since my first transplant, that's quite a good milestone.
  4. I like to think I'm a chip off the old block and hope my dad is proud of me when he looks down. I'm no stronger than anyone else here.
  5. @clochette my news from the hospital means that life hasn't changed for me, that's all. What disappoints me is that I wanted to arrange a trip to Vancouver to see my godmother again, I've only visited her once since she moved from the UK 20 years ago, I enjoyed the trip and wanted to do it again. I found Vancouver to be a fantastic city and it would be great to see more of Canada.
  6. I was at the hospital today where I received the news that I knew was inevitable. The doctors confirmed that I will not be going back on to the transplant register for the foreseeable future. I knew it was coming and I have already come to terms with it. My life will continue with dialysis several times a week and they will review the possibility of going back on the register every six months. I'll treasure these short stories as they help me to see a better future, they mean a lot to me. Thank you, Albert.
  7. Albert my friend you are becoming quite an impressive and extraordinary storyteller. I love it and I'm looking forward to the next adventure. You really should post these short stories for everyone to read, others on GA would enjoy them too.

    Chapter 8

I'd say I'm sorry for not commenting before now, but I'm not sorry, I've been too busy binge-reading to catch up. I think that tells you how much I've been enjoying the story, now I'm waiting for the next chapter so please don't keep me waiting too long for the next instalment of this enjoyable story. 😃
  9. As long as you remember we are your friends and here for you. I'm only a message away.
  10. I like the skilful writing that portrays Jeremy's grief, it brings you within touching distance. It appears that Jeremy is going down the road of denial and not allowing himself to accept that life must go on. Dexter may be able to help him overcome his grief, but is he the right man in the long term? Probably not. Enter Carter, who is this young man with the similarities to Ethan? Could he be the one to bring Jeremy out of the funk of continuing grief? Maybe, but if he is Jeremy must accept Carter for himself, not as a replacement Ethan, that doesn't work.
  11. I couldn't agree more @Cane23 and if a sad and heartbreaking chapter can be beautifully written this is it. I was moved to tears and could not stop reading.
  12. No spoilers in this review. This is a nostalgic slice of real life that draws the reader in. Expertly written by a skilled author, it is well worth the read, I recommend it, read and enjoy.
  13. Having read this story twice, I whole heartedly recommend it. It's a great read.
  14. Aloha my friend, extra hugs for you today to help you through a sad time.
  15. I am so sorry to hear that our thoughts and prayers will not be answered and Skye can no longer make his way in this world and reach his potential. All I can do now is send good thoughts and virtual hugs to you, his family, friends and loved ones in the hope it helps to give the strength that is needed at this sad time.
  16. And that statement of drewth tells me you would be a perfect candidate for being a lawyer.
  17. I hear you my friend, but while Sky still breathes I will not give up hope, I will continue to pray, wish and hope for the best. We must have faith to give him the best chance possible. 🙏 🤞
  18. I agree with what you say @Drew Payne. I will also add the following to it. Far too many politicians are only in politics to line their own pockets and those of their already wealthy friends, they don't care about the country or the people who voted for their false promises. You only need to look at the political scandals for examples of this, lobbying scandals and the expenses scandal to mention just two of them. These are not limited to the Conservative party, they go across the board of many of our political parties, and I don't think this is unique to the UK as it happens worldwide. Good ethics do not appear to be a part of politics anymore, which leads me to question what is taught in political studies in our schools, colleges and universities. I hear more political sense from the ordinary folk interviewed when news reporters do their 'Meet the Man on the Street' articles. Let's put some of these people in power, they can't do any worse. As an afterthought, how about Martin Lewis as Chancellor of The Exchequer, at least he appears to have his head screwed on right.
  19. That is good news, I hope he remains on the road to recovery and will be home soon. 🤞
  20. It looks like you are too late, I'd say @Albert1434 already claimed them, after all, they are in his possession and possession is nine-tenths of the law.
  21. Consider it done, he has been in my thoughts since you told us about his accident. Ask his parents to give him an extra hug or a squeeze of his hand, to convey my best wishes and hopes for a full recovery.
  22. Sounds good, I had a plaice fillet coated in golden breadcrumbs, fresh garden salad and a few chips (I know most of you call them fries) followed by a fresh fruit salad. Like Dugh's meal, simple but tasty and enjoyable.
  23. Phew! Is it just me or is it getting hot in here? Happy Canada Day Gary, I hope you have some good celebrations planned.
  24. There are more stories to come, they haven't been written yet, but I'm sure they will come in time. I'm currently working on a couple of projects, and then who knows?
  25. Thank you for commenting, but has it ended? We have all heard the saying - 'When one door closes, another one opens' - it could be that where one story ends, another begins.
