Judy is a force to be reckoned with, in a good way. I based her character on a ward sister that I met some time ago, she was a darling and she is missed.

John is worried about the future of The Boot, how he deals with his worries and how successful he is will be revealed in future chapters. Andy could surprise you, or maybe he won't, lol. Thank you for your continued comments, they are appreciated.

Thank you @ReaderPaul for leaving such a wonderful comment. I try to keep the stories in The Boot World as real as possible but, like working with homeless people, it isn't always easy and I write these stories to raise awareness. Homeless people have many varied reasons for being homeless and the difficulties in working with them are just as varied and numerous. In The Major's case, his stubbornness is one of his many problems, others will come to light later in this story while some have also been explored in his own story, Lost Soul - The Ox. For others, the problems can cover addictions, and mental health issues including depression and lack of self-worth and that is only the tip of the iceberg so to speak as they affect people in many different ways. Some of the stories and events in TBTYO are loosely based on real events, some of which I have come into contact with and have had some experience with. I hope you continue to read, enjoy and comment.

Okay so Johnny is rich, but that is not the story it's just a part of it. From my perspective, the story is about Johnny growing up and discovering himself, or discovering his sexuality, and meeting other young men. Fingers crossed he meets the right guy and not a leech. 🤞

A short story that makes a huge impact. Written in collaboration with @Carlos Hazday before his passing it was originally intended to be longer, but it is a complete story in this short form. I am sure that Carlos will be looking down smiling and giving it his nod of approval. If @WolfM can find it in himself to continue the story at a future date when it is easier I am sure Carlos would approve and encourage it. I love this story and appreciate the sharing of it.

OMG. Who would think that such a short piece could have such a big impact, but it does. In one sense it is complete in itself, in another sense it begs for more chapters to complete Scott's story. Your collaboration with Carlos has produced a story with a big impact, you should be proud of it I know Carlos would be, and I know he would be proud of you too for posting it and he would appreciate it. I know it would be difficult for you with Carlos no longer here, but if by any chance you can bring yourself to add more in the future I can see that it would be well received and appreciated. Whatever you decide know this, you have delivered Scott into the hands of caring men and into the CJverse, where Carlos would tell you he belongs. Carlos chose wisely when he decided to collaborate with you on this, you have left a fitting tribute to Carlos and his memory. Thank you.

What a wonderful way to wake up. I think it is safe to say you have a very loving son.

Aloha Albert, how are you and Steve this fine day?

For the briefest moment I thought you were talking to me, then I realised you were just continuing your squabble with Spikey, lol.

The Boot World - The Boot & The Lost Souls Series
Mancunian replied to Mancunian's topic in Stories Discussion Forum
My apologies for the lack of updates recently, for personal reasons that I don't want to bore anyone with I needed to take a short break from writing and GA. I have been back online for the last week or so and have spent some time catching up on reading some of the stories written by other authors. I feel ready to get back to writing, which I enjoy. I want to add more stories to The Boot World and I am currently planning and researching storylines. I want to enhance and expand The Boot World by making additions to both The Boot and The Lost Soul series. While that is going on I will be returning to The Boot Three Years On and giving it a make-over, adding to the descriptive text and dialogue to improve and enhance continuity and the story. It is a long way off from being ready, I intend to keep everyone updated via this forum and will let everyone know when the updated version will be posted.- 73 replies

Thank you for reading and giving TBTYO your time. I love coming back to this story and reading new comments. At the time this story is set (late 2009 to early 2010) family rooms could be found in many of our hospitals and the food was of a reasonable standard, unfortunately since then they have diminished as has the standard of food, although our NHS will deny that. I am currently doing a rewrite of TBTYO. The storyline will remain the same although it will be expanded in some areas and will include added dialogue where needed to improve the continuity of the story and add to the reader experience. This will take some time and is nowhere near ready to be posted. I intend to keep readers updated in The Boot World forum, the link is below.

Have you only just realised that? But I do have the occasional sane moment, I think, lol.

I knew you could be nice, why not make it a habit BoomBoom we like you like this.

Clo, I hope you can sort it out, you deserve to pass after all of your hard work. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. 🤞

This is a powerful letter of support and sharing, one that can impart support and encouragement to others who read and may need it. The latter part may not have been intended, but it is there non the less.

Chapter 1 Letter to Caitlyn Jenner
Mancunian commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 1 Letter to Caitlyn Jenner
Gary, this is a beautifully written letter of support for Caitlyn and it made me wonder if you have ever sent it to her. If you did, did you receive a reply? I'm 43 years old (turning 44 later this year) and I only know Caitlyn Jenner from documentaries and TV shows, as I wasn't around when she competed in the Olympics as Bruce Jenner. The open letter to Caitlyn not only shows support for her but also highlights how it can help others in their personal journey to self-acceptance. I found it interesting to read about your own journey and it made me think of my late father's experiences. I didn't fully understand his stories back then when I was growing up, but now I realise how lucky I am to have had his support. His friends, who became like uncles to me, also provided me with love and support which I took for granted at the time but now, after reading this, I appreciate the time I had with them even more. Thank you for sharing the letter and a part of yourself, Gary. The price of shares in Kleenex has probably risen due to the effects of this letter and the memories it brought back. But they are good memories that I will never forget. -
A nice collection of poems and songs to put to music in your head. Read and discover the skill of @Headstall as he finds the right words to describe a moment, it's impressive.

Suffice it to say, I like this, a lot.

Words to take note of and remember when life deals us another blow. When we are feeling down we need words like this to lift us back up again.

Chapter 5 She's a Wonder
Mancunian commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 5 She's a Wonder
Yep, this is how we feel when we first see the one that makes our hearts flutter. It's a shame it never seems to last. -
Poignant words that no doubt, many will ask their loved one at some point. I still hope to meet that special someone, but maybe life has left me too cynical and I do wonder, at times, if I have enough time left.
-
This resonates when you wish you had the strength of the narrator. Instead, you settle for what you know is second best and accept it because you feel you don't deserve anything else. I know because I've been there, but now I'm older, stronger and wiser and could be the narrator. Although this is sad, you write it so well that we feel it.
-
I would read it again too, but I think it's perfect the way it is.

This struck many chords with me, no I've never cheated on anyone but I have been cheated on. The words capture an underlying love but speak of the regret, consequences and loss of unwise actions. It's a lesson for those who may contemplate taking such a risk as many of us cannot get past such actions. It hurts and leaves a mark that can never be erased.
