Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
For anyone who hasn't heard of the "pay it forward" concept I recommend they look up the film titled "Pay It Forward" starring Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and child actor Haley Joel Osment. It gets a mention in "What Happened To The Baxter Boys" and is a good emotionally charged film. -
And I thought you loved me, lol.

Hey, In resemble that remark, lol.

Mushy peas help to add a little more flavour to chip butties and their smoothness adds a nice contrast to the crisp batter coating the fish. Depending on where you are in the UK determines your choice of fish. Cod is the most common and is available in all chip shops, other choices could include haddock, hake, plaice or skate. In some chip shops where the type of fish is not specified you may be given pollock, all of them are tasty and I like them all. I think Jacob is developing a connection with Joseph and his charges from the UK, he is a good man. -

Minor disasters like this can often be hilarious, they can also help relieve tensions and I'm sure there are some as Joseph gets to know Ian and Kevin. Fun days out are a great way to bond with those new in our lives. Fingers crossed behind the scenes plans are progressing. 🤞 -

The pancake explosion was based on a childhood event, I'm not evil for reliving it at Joseph's expense, am I? These comical moments become fond memories. Almost everyone I know likes eating fish, chips and peas so I'm hopeful that Joseph will enjoy it too. I wonder what he will think of McDonalds and KFC. Let's keep our fingers crossed that everything is going just as well behind the scenes. 🤞 -
Ian and Kevin had just reached the bottom of the stairs when they heard the crash, quickly followed by the sounds of glass shattering and horrified shrieks from Shamira and Joseph. The colour drained from their faces, Ian bounded across the hall to the kitchen, and Kevin stood poised with his mobile ready to press *# as Jacob had instructed. The twins could be heard crying out on the patio. Ian opened the kitchen door. Seeing the mess and disaster in the kitchen, he immediately brought his

Yes, John will assist Isaac in advocating for Ian, Kevin and Joseph, but I'm not sure how much detail he will release. I would like to write Manny's biography, however, he is a difficult man to research. If I find it possible, I will post it in the future.
-
Manny was, and still is, held in high regard by those he helped, I think it is safe to say they are spread far and wide. 'John' is a man who only discloses information on a need-to-know basis, the money has been returned and that is all we need to know.

That's a great line, I love it.

There is good and bad Karma, this is an incidence of good Karma in several forms.

Thank you for the enthusiastic comment @akascrubber and yes we have learned something about Manny, his legacy is more than financial. You may also find this interesting too;- Emmanuel; Origin: Hebrew. Meaning: God is with us. It does look like there may be a solution and Isaac's prayers have been answered, let's hope no more spanners are waiting to be thrown into the works.

Isaac considered himself to be a liberal within the Jewish faith. All of the central tenets, such as observing the Sabbath, religious festivals and forbidden foods, were observed, but some things, such as daily prayers, were often overlooked. But today, when he awoke with the worry of Joseph's case – that he carefully hid from those around him – he felt the need to start his day with prayers. Before he rose from his bed, he recited the Modeh Ani Prayer. Modeh Ani Lefanecha Mele

Thank you for the comments, Paul. I appreciate your reading and the comments you have left. Your friend's observations of the guests/service users are accurate. Many use the help and support wisely to improve their situation, and some return as volunteers or staff. Unfortunately, some will selfishly use the available support just because they can whether they need it or not. As you point out there are people in real life who experience tragedy in their lives but with the right help and support can go on to have a good and productive life. But as you also point they are scarred by their experience, sometimes for life as their experiences can be very difficult to live with. You will see this, to a degree, as you read through other stories from The Boot World. I'm looking forward to your comments as you read through the stories. Please feel free to comment further, I will always reply, or PM me if you prefer.

Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
This is one of the reasons I love reader comments. Not only do you see the 'simple story', like others, you see the complexities that make up that story. As the author it makes me happy that you, and others, see and understand those complexities. You also note the 'behind the scenes' story which we know little about but will come to understand in time. Thank you Anton for your insightful comments. I love this and if I had thought of "Operation Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Trip" I would have been tempted to use it as an alternative title, it's brilliant. -
Getting To Know Joseph Part 2

Due to his background and previous life, Joseph probably had low expectations and few dreams for his future, when he becomes better accustomed to the changes that are happening he will be a happier healthier person. As @drsawzall pointed out he is at an age where learning will become second nature, hopefully, when that kicks in he will learn to dream and have ambitions for his life. We will never know Manny's full intentions, but I believe that we have all guessed right. Let's hope that the known obstacles, and any others that crop up, are overcome. 🤞 -
Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
Mancunian commented on Mancunian's story chapter in Getting To Know Joseph Part 2
The cultural differences will be the catalyst for many conversations over the coming months and possibly years for Ian, Kevin and Joseph. They will all benefit from their talks, naturally, Joseph will benefit the most as he gets to live a better life than he would otherwise have had. Some would seek to capitalise in a situation like this, thankfully, Manny was not like this and neither are Ian or Kevin, they will guide and protect him. -

I'm sticking to my previous comment, I repeat I can't comment on what I don't know.

I agree, and Kevin will have their work cut out for them, explaining to Joseph and showing him how much life will be different. Their family will grow closer the more Joseph settles and enjoys what is left of his childhood. -

I'm pleased to see that you picked up on the most important part of the conversation which is not just what was said, it is that it shows the cultural gap that Ian, Kevin and Joseph have to deal with. There is a lot of learning to be done by all and it will take time, Ian and Kevin will also need a lot of patience. I think Joseph will adjust well and enjoy his new life given time.
