  1. Similar day here at the moment. Although we are warned to expect a deep Atlantic depression to cause Storm Ellen to cross the country this evening and tomorrow. Status Red, Orange, and Yellow wind warnings are in place for different parts of the island from 9:00 pm this evening. Currently the northwest is in the Status Yellow zone, so I'm hopeful that the wind won't be too bad here. Met Éireann are also warning of the possibility of flooding, particularly in coastal areas, due to a combination of storm surge, spring tides and onshore winds. I'm just glad I don't have to travel anywhere for the next couple of days. Happy Wednesday, all!
  2. Greetings, Albert!
  3. Toi??!! Innocent? Tires l'autre jambe, Pinocchio! (Hope that English idiom translated properly... )
  4. Et tu, Brute?
  5. Hi, Cassie. Everything okay? (It's all clo's fault )
  6. The way he first looked carefully all around himself.... really had me wondering what he was planning to do with that hose....

  8. Great chapter, Gary. When I am really enjoying a story, I often find myself slowing down as I come towards the end. I think that's largely because I just don't want it to finish. I note there's only one chapter left of this gem of yours. So I'm going to wait a day or two before I actually read it. You can take that as a compliment, my friend.
  9. To be honest, @unilive, when I read it first, I certainly didn't think he was talking about the band. I know you're the author, but here's Mark's speech in full: And surely, if he were talking about the band, he would have said: "Come on, we're talking about U-N-I here."
  10. It definitely does!
  11. I spotted that error as well, but... These were spoken words. Not everyone speaks in grammatically perfect English. In fact few people do. There's nitpicking, and there's nitpicking, @Will Hawkins.
  12. I'm never in a hurry when I'm polishing...
  13. I sometimes find it quite enjoyable. Can often be a stress reliever Hi, Gary. Hope you're having a good day.
  14. Greetings, young Albert!

  16. Overcast here, and feeling a few degrees cooler than recent days. At least it's dry at the moment, although there could be showers later. A nice breeze, so I've chanced hanging out some washing.
  17. I suppose it all depends on what it is you are polishing...
  18. Cool So what are you reading? And what are you writing?
  19. Reading? Or writing?
  20. Tonight I had steamed potatoes, carrots, peas, beans and Swiss chard (all home grown), and sardines.
  21. Today has been cloudy, with rain since late morning, and it's still raining with less than an hour and half to go before midnight. The rain has't been too heavy - I suppose it was what could be termed a soft day. I had a hospital appointment this afternoon. What's known as a diabetic retina scan. They've done one every year since I was diagnosed, as Type 2 diabetes, if untreated, can lead to eye damage. They've not turned up any damage so far in previous tests, but I won't get the results from this one until about two weeks time. One good thing about the dull day was that I didn't have to wait the usual three hours before I could drive home. They put drops in my eyes to make the pupils really wide, and that can make it difficult to see for a while, even with sunglasses on. The dull day meant that my eyes were able to function properly after about an hour.
  22. I somehow suspect that, with the smoke and the ash, not to mention the pandemic, the last thing Albert really wanted to do today was to leave the house...
  23. I wish you all the luck in the world, buddy.
  24. This even made the news over here in Ireland.
