Being adopted, I can totally relate to Mitch and Tony's friend.
My bio family is made up of Mongolian, Japanese, Irish, American Indian, and Polish. I discovered that when I met them after I turned 18. What slightly upset me was that my Dad's side, which is where the Irish and American Indian came from had no specific knowledge of what tribe of Clan we belong to.
Although, for a long as I can remember I've been drawn to the Irish and American Indian cultures, so maybe it is something that's woven into my DNA or the spirits on my ancestors instilling a sense of belonging and natural intrigue.
