I've always liked Dan Savage. He has a dry wit that I find very appealing. What I found interesting was his comment about how the people seemed very warm to him personally, while saying he's going to rot in hell because he's gay. I wonder how much of that was because the people are generally nice and hospitable, and how much was because they knew they were on camera.

Some people just like to make things complicated. I hadn't considered the possibility that Bondwriter has suggested. There's been no hints in the story to say that, but that doesn't mean anything.

Too much off topic -- sorry. While both the movie and CJ's stories involve heroes spoiling the plans of villians, there's not a lot of similarity otherwise.... Am I charter member of the Evil Doers and World Domination Society? I'm not permitted to say I'm also not allowed to say who are members, which is why I can't comment on whether CJ is also a member.... I can confirm that Shadowgod isn't a member, but if he fills in a application form, I'm sure they'll consider it

Damn! I will confess that back in university, the computer system allowed you to have a "plan" that would show up when someone checked your account (a .plan file in the Unix operating system, for those who want the details). Mine was something like: 1. Get my own unrestricted account on the university computer 2. Write a master control program 3. Execute master control program 4. Take over the world I'd been watch the movie Tron and it, er, had a strong influence on me I had a plan, but some of the execution details were never resolved....

Your first problem is defining what is a "gay film". Is it a film that includes gay characters? Is it a film that has some aspect of homosexuality as its main focus/theme? To pre-empt James, films aren't gay. There are films about gays, that are popular with gays, and/or feature gays. Off the top of my head, two mainstream films that feature positive gay relationships are: The Object of My Affection and The Sum Of Us. I don't watch a lot of movies, so I'll leave it to others to come up with a longer list

Heavan forbid that he be fiscally irresponsible. That would be grounds for dismissal from the Evil Doers and World Domination Society if they ever find out! I believe article 7 of their charter requires that all plans for world domination be fiscally responsible... which is why so few such plots are ever put forward for implementation.

Today is the start of Melbourne's Midsumma Festival. It continues until Feb 10. I liked the write-up in today's The Age newspaper. This is a mainstream newspaper, not a GLBT newspaper. For all those multi-millionaires that were wondering what to do, it's not too late to book a flight to Melbourne. The 1st Asia Pacific Outgames don't start until Jan 30, as only one example of events that are on.

I suggested earlier that it might be the current leader (President?) of Paraguay. It may be easier for The Scar to take over the country in the wake of the death of the current leader. I still think that that is a possibility, but my suspicion is that it's Instinct because he'll want to cover his tracks about however he's been "using" them.

But he wouldn't need Mario to "kill" Jerry -- The Scar could do that at his leisure, since he controls "Jerry" in the first place. I still think it's Instinct that The Scar wants to have an accident. Since he wants it to happen in the USA, that implies it will be after the end of the Australian tour (that's good -- I won't have wasted my money on the concert tickets). To me, that implies that Jerry is going to use Instinct in some way, and as the one organising the transport, I suspect he's going to use them as cover to transport something -- the bombs, probably. Can anyone work out how the bombs will help The Scar take over Paraguay? Once he gets them into the USA, how easy will it be for him to transport them down to South America (assuming that's where he wants them)?

Don't worry. All you're doing is speculating. Since you don't know the future story, no speculation can be considered to be a spoiler. It's only a spoiler if you say something you know is in a future chapter, and indicate that. And before CJ seizes on that last clause, all statements by him are assumed to be from the point of view of knowing the future chapters and thus statements of fact not supported by previously posted chapters is assumed to indicate future events, and is hence a spoiler

I had a different tack on things. The Scar seems keen on making sure his nuclear plot doesn't have loose ends. The work he has for Mario is probably to do with that. I think it hinges on the link between The Scar and Jerry. Why is Jerry (as The Scar) so keen to be involved with Instinct? It has to be related to the nuclear weapons and how they will be used. I still haven't worked out how the nuclear weapons (and those specifications that The Scar provided) results in The Scar taking over Paraguay, and that's why I don't know what's happening and where Instinct fit in. The suspicion is that it has something to do with Jerry's transport company, but there's also the possibility that it'll have something to do with the charity work he is reported to be involved in. I don't think Jerry was skimming money via Gabe. If he was, I would've expected to hear reports that Gabe had been found dead, as he would be a dangerous loose end if he was left in police custody (which was weeks, if not months, ago in the story line). It's possible Gabe and Lump had some sort of deal going, but that's pure speculation.
