    Chapter 1

Reilly’s father and brothers severely injured him and left what is currently permanent damage. I can’t imagine a greater hurt than being physically assaulted by presumed loved ones over your sexual orientation and wolf status. I wonder how Sebastian will feel about that? I’m not worried about him accepting Reilly as his mate, but I am interested to see how he reacts when he meets the ‘real’ Reilly. Their bond is obviously strong. Hopefully Sebastian accepts Kellan as a package deal with Reilly. The details you put in really make the story come alive; I am looking forward to the next chapter!

    Prologue

Holy smokes that was a great prologue. You have grabbed me with a very intriguing plot. Love shifter stories but know that writing a truly good one is difficult. When Reilly shifted… I literally sat up straighter. 😯I am all in and moving onto chapter one.

I’m really getting used to the daily postings, and have to keep reminding myself we are now going to weekly. Thanks for spoiling us while you set the stage for the Mexico adventure! I wonder who Lincoln was talking about at the embassy having a similar experience with Domogarov as Calum had, and how that experience turned out. Domogarov obviously has his own secrets to hide. That makes him more dangerous.

I am going to guess that as the ambassador Margaret Cox is well aware of how Stephen Northman acts and is perceived by others. Perhaps her walking into the office wasn’t such a coincidence as it was purposeful. If so, I like her style. Between that interaction and the response to the email message, she got her point across in a way that fully supports CJ and leaves no real wiggle room for Northman. I’m glad CJ has such an important person amongst his allies.

Simmone’s career level experiences and expertise make her a great ally for for CJ, especially with an antagonistic boss. She is shaping up to be someone who is trustworthy in difficult situations. I adore Liebe and her two word answers! “Juice mine.” “Trump bad.” You go, little woman!
  6. I can only echo what others have already said; I am thrilled to have CJ and Ozzie back! From the hilarious opening line onward to the Russian spy, backdrop of Mexico and sweet little Liebe, I am looking forward with intrigue. Thanks for deciding to post now instead of the new year!
  7. Set in the vast expanse of the American Old West, this story brings us Boone and Coy from ‘Sidewinder’ , but really focuses on Mitch who was introduced to us as the sheriff. Although it isn’t required to read that tale first, I highly recommend that you do! Both stories are exceptionally written, with rich dialogue, descriptive language and attention to the smallest of details. Those looking for stories that focus on adults and older characters will fall in love with ‘Larkspur…’ There is something for everyone: suspense, drama, tears, passion, grief, jubilation, frustration, triumph and, not least of all, faith. This story and the characters will come to life and stay with you.
  8. The ending to this story feels like getting wrapped up in a cozy hug! My heart leapt when Will said, “Mitch? You still awake?” “ Almost forgot… wanted to tell you I love you again, before you fall asleep.” There is such beauty in the love Mitch and Will feel for each other. It shows in their intimacy and will guide them through the rest of their lives. I feel like I can leave Mitch and Will, Boone and Coy, knowing that they are better off because of one another.

    Chapter 15 Faith

You can just feel everyone’s joy throughout this chapter. And it really is all about faith, isn’t it? While a lovely, perfect reason behind the name for the filly, it also expresses each of the men’s outlook on life. Boone, Coy, Mitch and Will have individually and jointly taken chances and put their faith in the power of their love. They figured out ways to be together when time, circumstance, distance, the expanse of the west, others, and the beliefs of the time period could have made it impossible. I seem to always be saying that a chapter made me smile. Well, this one made me beam!

    A Beautiful Path

It felt poetic how nature, weather and the elements were used adding such depth and heightening each moment. While sad, I loved this story.
  11. I thought maybe it was the time change and it would appear in an hour! 😉😏😂😂
  12. As they talked things over and discussed the past and what their future will be, Mitch and Will were completely open and themselves; it was heartwarming to feel their mutual understanding. Will loves Mitch and accepts the in his head, gotta work things out before I do something / feel something core of who Mitch is. And Mitch adores the romantic, big gesture, I am all in type of person Will is. I’d hoped we would get to Boone and Coy today, but this was soooooo much better!

    Trouble

A very well paced and hot Halloween meet cute. Something tells me that Trouble and Cowboy will be on a first name basis in the morning but then use those ‘pet’ names for the rest of their lives!
  14. And just like that, everything is right with the world! Mitch is someone who has to think things through before he allows himself the emotions that go along with it. But once he is in, he is all in. Luckily Will is quicker to access his feelings and react. I love how you write love! These two are perfect for each other.
  15. Mitch lived with dying for long enough that it is no wonder he needs a moment to just live. Heading back to his land to give praise and burn sage will do him good. And just like it took awhile, but Mitch ‘finally learned how to not get shot’, something tells me after some pondering Mitch will figure out how to approach Will and finally just live. Boone and Coy are going to be so relieved/happy! I can’t stop smiling right now 😊
  16. This chapter kinda slapped me up side the head. I realized Mitch wasn’t sure he could handle watching Will watch him die. That really hit me hard. And while I hope for good news with the doctor, I really really really hope Mitch realizes that part of loving forever is also accepting one of you more than likely will watch over the other when their time has come.
  17. Mitch and Will are a philosopher’s dream for the irresistible force paradox! Can’t wait to see how it works out when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object. Like other commenters, I too, find myself sometimes hoping against odds that Will was misdiagnosed and has a chance at a long life. But then, I guess, that’s part of the grief process. A bit of denial thrown in with some bargaining. What seems more important is that Mitch has come to terms with his future. Now if he can just use his dang intuition and recognize the gift Will is offering with his unconditional love!
  18. Laner making the effort to reconcile with her children shows that redemption comes in many ways. It is hard to admit we could have done better as a parent and work to make amends. Such a harmonious and settling ‘extra’ chapter!
  19. This chapter is filled with a sense of peace, hope and also realistic expectations. Mitch has made his final plans and handled all the decisions tied to those plans. In accepting the support and love Boone and Coy are freely giving him, Mitch found a way to give back to them through the beloved land. The protection blessing was a calming balm. Mitch isn’t giving up, he’s being realistic. He has wonderful plans for the near future…and it looks like he might allow Will to be a part of those.
  20. I, too, really liked how the weather mirrored what was happening throughout the chapter. As for Mitch, I don’t find him stubborn or obstinate, just strong willed. It was a bit heartbreaking to hear him say he didn’t want to say anything ‘unkind’ to Will. That, alone, showed the depth of his love. The few days away will give Mitch the time he needs to process the really long time apart Will and Mitch had and to hopefully come to terms with what he now understands really happened. I bet in a few days Mitch will be in a better place to hear what Will has to say. That Will is ok with waiting him out, speaks volumes. And, oh my gosh how I love Boone and Coy! Every time I think there couldn’t be more ways for those two to support and love each other, the next chapter proves me wrong. 💗
  21. A good long walk will do Mitch good. His first walk was more of a storm off, remembering all that he was hurt and angry about. The shock of seeing Will jarring. This walk will hopefully be more about coming to terms with what he just learned. It can be hard to mentally readjust from what you thought, to reality. Knowing Will searched for him and then later settled in one spot hoping to be found is too significant for Mitch to ignore. However, so is his illness. Just as Mitch cautioned Boone and Coy that he doesn’t know his future, it must be ever on his mind that his time may be limited. It’s good that the land in Larkspur speaks to Mitch. Perhaps walking it again will bring some answers and a willingness to meet with Will.
  22. In the chapters leading up to this one, Mitch has been alternately referred to as sheriff or by name. This chapter he’s just called Mitch (or Mitchell 😍); the man and his background a bit laid bare. Becoming sheriff was a calling, perhaps something he was destined to do, and not something he could easily walk away from. But it isn’t all of Mitch. Seems to me that Will understands that. I guess that’s why he road back a year later and ultimately settled in one place hoping they would meet again. This will be a difficult conversation for Mitch. Will knew why Mitch became a lawman and yet left without a goodbye. Both sides are valid; sometimes it feels too hard to stick around while the person you love places themselves in mortal danger. But if someone truly loves you, shouldn’t they support and assist when you follow the path you feel called to? If Will is intuitive enough to realize Mitch wouldn’t willingly give up his job as sheriff, recognizing there is more going on than Boone and Coy are saying, he must also be aware how crushing of a blow his leaving was to Mitch. I am still hopeful. I believe whatever time on earth Mitch has left, it will be all the richer spent with Will. They have a lot to talk about first, though.
  23. We all knew there was history between Mitch and Will but when Will called him Mitchell I started tearing up and didn’t stop until, well… guess I am still tearful. I really didn’t expect the backstory that played out. I feel for Will. When you love someone, it can seem impossible to endure if the loved ones path puts them in mortal danger. Facing grave illness is different than knowingly facing peril. I hope Mitch is open to hearing Will out. They have lost two decades together but obviously are still very much in love. Faith is interlaced throughout this story; it gives me hope.
  24. Everything about this chapter made me smile. Coy’s genuine interest and regard for Mitch’s well being really shines through. Doesn’t seem meddlesome to me at all, just a well thought out and prayed about work around to get Mitch and Will in the same place long enough to meet/talk. In the end, Boone couldn’t help but agree to join in. As my grandma would say, put another potato in the pot; I think we’ve got company for supper!
  25. This whole world feels so real. Every character, every interaction, every situation is beautifully written with imagination and depth. I wish it could go on for much more than the last 3 updates, which I look forward to more than can adequately express.
