I'm glad to see you put your suspicions out there, but we'll have to wait and see how it all works out, since I don't want to spoil it for you. 😜 I'm glad you also enjoyed the Valentine's Day portion of the story, and I think you can see that Devin is thoughtful, caring, and loving when it comes to Mac.

Natation comes from the Latin natationem, a swimming place, and natare, to swim.

I'm sorry this chapter put you at ill-ease after the rapes were mentioned. I'm sure Devin understands that he might be putting himself at risk of suspicion by doing this, but maybe he has a plan to deflect suspicion, if that should become the case.

I agree about Mac making suggestions, but unfortunately I didn't think of that as I was writing this chapter. It's too bad you didn't go over the story before I began to post it. Yes, I'm certain Barry would be shocked if Devin transition into a real turtle in front of him, but he could possibly do what Barry hinted at.

Wouldn't it be a perfect world if everyone acted the way you think they should.

I know everyone thinks Devin is being selfish and unreasonable by making these decisions, but in his defense, he might be thinking about the ramifications of what he does on the rest of his family - a point I'm sure has been drummed into him since he first changed into a bear. Yes, it's possible that there are cameras at some locations on campus, but I'm also certain there are many other places with no cameras. And I agree that the administration is being reckless by not notifying the students about this problem, but considering what we've heard about other similar incidents, it obviously isn't the first time an administration has made a questionable decision.

Those are valid points, but Devin may be protecting both Mac and himself by keeping Mac uninvolved. If Devin is transforming into different people while doing this, wouldn't others become suspicious about why Mac is hanging around with those guys instead of with Devin? And if they possibly draw the conclusion that it might be Devin because all of these different people are dressed similarly to what Devin wears, then wouldn't that compromise Devin and his family as well? I don't think Mac is doing this lightly and is merely trying to protect Mac and his entire family. You may disagree, but that's my take on the situation.

That's very observant of you in noticing that Barry is very observant as well, and that's an interesting speculation that he might figure out about Devin's involvement in catching the rapist, if that's what happens, so I guess you'll just have to wait and see what happens. 😈

Chapter 15 – A New Problem In between my classes on Monday, I made time to go over to the campus newspaper office so I could ask the staff for another favor. After I explained to those present about how the visit to the hospital went and what the nurses and doctors had said, I asked my favor. I wanted one of the reporters to write an article about our visit to the children’s ward, and I even downloaded copies of the photos and videos that had been sent to us so they could use them as a ba

imbecility - Word of the Day - Mon Jun 12, 2023
Bill W commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
And some people use the words imbecile, moron, and idiot synonymously for any person who is mentally disabled. Th is use of the word has diluted the meaning of someone making imbecilic comments from foolish or nonsensical to meaning idiotic or stupid. It's similar to how the word queer, which means odd or peculiar, came to define people who love someone of the same sex. -
There are still pardoners today, since many politicians have the power to pardon people for their crimes.
-
The word pavilion takes me back to my childhood, because the park where my family would hold our family reunion had a large pavilion with a merry-go-round inside that we got to ride for free. Back then it was a lot of fun, because we would make believe we were cowboys or in the cavalry as we rode the horses on the merry-go-round, since westerns and cavalry on horseback were very common in the movies or on TV.

I didn't want to brag. 🥱

The way the paper comes down from the rolls, it almost looks as if the date is 2929. I thought maybe you were trying to be the next Nostradamus.

Ah, he must have been thinking about Smaug's hoard.

Hoard can me that you're stashing things away, such as I do with all of my gold... cough, cough, but don't confuse it with horde, which is a large group, such as you're being attacked by a horde of mosquitos or a horde of thieves.

Thanks for jumping to my defense, Terry.

I didn't cast any aspirsions.

An interesting and creative play on my words.

Thanks, drP. I like that explanation.

Thanks, Terry. This was a fun chapter to write for many reasons, and I'm glad you saw how much the boys actually care about these children. I enjoy putting this chapter together as much as Mac, Devin, and the children enjoyed their visit to the hospital. As far as Mac's parents go, and I know that no one has suggested this yet, but their acceptance of the boys orientation may have had a hidden motivation as well. They had already lost two children, and if they didn't accept Mac and Devin's relationship then Mac might have cut ties with them. If that happened, the Mac's mother would never get the grandchildren she seems to desire, and even though that might be the case anyway, she certainly didn't want to lose another child and potential greandchildren - but that's only a thought.
-
That's ok, Terry. I got a kick out of you playing the role of a parrot. 🦜

Thanks, Terry. I'm glad someone is finally agreeing with me.

officious - Word of the Day - Thu June 8, 2023
Bill W commented on Myr's blog entry in Writing World
Officious may have been derived from two different Latin words whose meaning were combined together. The first Latin word was officiousus, 'sounding something like a spell Hemione Granger took great pleasure in pronouncing', and meaning kindly and obliging. The other word is officium, meaning service or office, so it seems these people think it's their duty to give others their advice, which is sometimes cloaked in a sweet, sappy manner.
