Trey spent Tuesday helping Dad prepare the salads for the cookout we’d be having the following day. The reason it is taking place in the middle of the week is that the Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is one of the few national holidays that’s still celebrated on the actual date. Christmas and New Year’s Day are two more, while Thanksgiving is always held on the fourth Thursday in November, so the date changes every year. All of the other national holidays are celebrated on the Monday closes

Thanks, Xander, but I doubt it will happen. Elliot's going to be a lawyer, so he may handle some of their legal affairs, but that's it. Ian's planning to be a cardiologist, and although he may have some younger patients, the majority will be much older. They may have some contact if they stay in the area, but I doubt they will be very involved.

The following week went by quickly and now we were ready for the weekend again. After dinner on Friday, we threw a small celebration for Elliot’s birthday, because he wanted to wait and have the cake and ice cream on Sunday. I appreciate your viewpoint, but Danny and Brandon are doing what they can. Besides, their mother wants them to spend the time with their new family and become comfortable with them, and there's not a lot they can do for one another at the nursing home. They've all seemed to accept that this is satisfactory for now.

I'm glad you feel this way, because it was my original intention when I started writing this story. It was meant to give a mental escape to the young gay guys I was in contact with at the time and were going through some unpleasant circumstances.

We woke the younger boys earlier than usual on Sunday morning so they’d have time to feed the puppies and take them outside to pee and poop afterward. Thanks, flesco, and it's true that the puppies will be a lot of work, but they'll be a lot of fun too. It will be interesting to see how they interact with each other. I'm sure that Hayden, Hunter, and Holly all realize how lucky they are that their mother asked Danny and Brandon to raise them for her, and I'm certain it will be a long and loving relationship.
