  1. Thanks, Fae, and you're rolling right along. I'm glad you're enjoying this.
  2. Cia, thank you for the wonderful build-up. I hope my work lives up to the hype.
  3. Yes, Fae, that was a rough chapter. Some learn from their mistakes and others don't. Which category will Frankie fall into? Thanks for the response.
  4. Thanks for the feedback, Fae, and you shall soon see.
  5. Yes, Fae, not being part of the norm is often difficult and less than fun.
  6. Yes, Fae, some people just aren't fit to be parents. It's a shame that there isn't a way to determine that before they have children.
  7. She writes like the mother of a friend I had in high school. She grew up in Korea and obviously didn't pick English easily. It also reminded me of a few frustrating phone calls to customer service about Windows in the past, since I couldn't understand a damn thing the person was saying. Fortunately, at least you could get the gist of what Catherine was saying - we'll do anything for you to get rid of that bad review before it affects our Christmas business. lol
  8. Kieren and his companions remained totally dumbfounded and completely confused by what had just taken place. Reflexively, they scanned the area looking for Madumda so they would be ready to defend against his next attack, but he was nowhere to be seen. Not only that, but the magical bonds that had been holding the warriors in place had inexplicably been broken and Kieren’s protectors discovered they were once again free to move around. The only question left was what had happened to their nem
  9. Hang in there, fae, it will happen soon. He is just making sure this will work out first, before he does that.
  10. Thanks for the feedback, Fae, and I'm glad you're enjoying this. I felt it was important to show the boys wonder at all these new sights, especially Kieren, while at the same time showing they were truly young and still somewhat immature. I hope you find the rest of the chapters just as interesting and enlightening.
  11. Happy Birthday, SacredLove! Hope it's a great one and may you enjoy many, many more!

    The Showdown SOK3

Thanks, Terry, and you will have to wait to find out, because at this point no one is sure what actually happened. Only a half-dozen chapters left to wrap things up and explain the gaps that had been left all along the way.
  13. Kieren was immediately struck by the similarity in appearance between the Dark Lord and Beraut. The physical resemblance between the two was hard to deny and caused Kieren’s breath to catch in his throat when he first encountered his nemesis. Since Beraut and Madumda happened to look so much alike, it also caused Kieren some slight concern. It made him momentarily question whether he’d be able to do battle with someone who so closely resembled the one whom he had come to admire and had begun
  14. Thanks for sharing that, Dennis. It was a real tear jerker, but hopefully it will bring some comfort to those that lost a parent when they were young, or possibly encourage someone in a similar situation to do something like this too. I sat by the bedside of several relatives when they passed and I sometimes wish they had written me little notes too, so I'd be able to think about the good times with them again, and not just miss them so badly. Thanks again.
  15. I wish what we were going to get was snow. It's raining here right now and is supposed to turn to ice and become freezing rain starting at sundown. Having lived in the north most of my life, I'd rather deal with the snow rather than ice.
  16. With an orbit that takes 200,000 years, it's fairly safe to see it has never been seen by human eyes before, but does it mean it hasn't created havoc at other times? If it does exist, could it have been responsible in some way for any of the mass extinctions scenarios? Could its gravitational force have pulled asteroids out of orbit from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, or the Kuiper Belt at the edge of our solar system, and caused them to strike the earth? I'm sure there are other possibilities as well, so it will give us a lot to think about if it is truly out there.
  17. Since they were unable to find the Sword of Kings in Madumda’s private apartments, Kieren and his companions were not only becoming frustrated, but they were also running out of time. If Kieren was going to use the fabled weapon to destroy the Dark Lord, then they would have to discover its hiding place soon. They were all having difficulty believing that they hadn’t been able to locate the sword in Madumda’s private chambers, since they'd been positive it had to be hidden somewhere within the
  18. I loved the Eagles, so this is another devastating loss. What's worse is that he was the same age as me. Dang. RIP, Glenn Frey.
  19. I'm not aware of any stories that use the Stockholm syndrome as part of the premise, but it's an interesting idea. Maybe someone will pick this up and run with it now. I could see a story about a guy who's been kidnapped and identifies/falls in love with his kidnapper, as one example.
  20. Happy Birthday, Riley! Hope it's a great one and may you enjoy many, many more!
  21. WL, sounds like an interesting premise. I think it's highly probably and plenty of fortune seekers would be more than willing to take those types of chances (think of the various gold rushes, diamond seekers, and the exploration of the New World). As far as sex in space, well when there's a limited number of potential sex partners, all sorts of things will happen (think of prisons and the Navy - Winston Churchill once made a comment about the amount of 'buggery' that went on in British ships over the decades). I see this as a fascinating possibility.
  22. Happy Birthday, David! Hope it's a great one and may you enjoy many, many more!
  23. He was an amazing actor and will be sorely missed. RIP Alan Rickman.
  24. “What type of lunacy be this?” the Mitikuan general asked, after scanning the oncoming throng. It certainly was not what he, or any of the other military leaders would have ever anticipated. Interspersed among Madumda’s warriors was a vast assemblage of civilians, armed with an assortment of common weapons and farm implements. The ages of these new ‘volunteers’ ranged from pre-adolescence to the very aged, and were comprised of both sexes. However, there was something odd about these ne
