  1. I don't think anybody defended beating up children, and it was more of a joke. Same with washing mouth with soap. At least speaking for me. Not sure about "never ever" though, for I don't know many parents who have children who are sociable and have never used any coercion methods, though corporal punishment seems to be a bad way. I think Graeme is right to say it can lead to heated discussions. I'd make it to more uptight and they would hold their legitimacy from the voters. And for something completely different, Law & Order SVU is broadcast on the biggest channel on Sundays at 4:00PM. They do put a little -10 or -12 warning for parents though.
  2. Gardening is a nice activity. Gardening at night allows you to wish at shooting stars. But makes using the hoe a bit more difficult, unless you have a magic touch. Not unlike apprentice wizards. (Kevin, you're responsible for this nonsense! )
  3. Hey, I was flattering indeed. Final Fantasy? Is it like a sick snuff stuff? The Grammar Knight, with his sidekick the Linguistics Squire, brandishing the Holy Spelling Handbook ("First shalt thou take out the Holy Spelling Handbook, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then openest thou thy Holy Spelling Handbook of Antioch towards thy foe, who being ignorant in my sight, shall get it.") and converting the masses to Chomsky's Generative Grammar theory, making them eager to hear about rules that recursively "specify" or "generate" the well-formed expressions of a natural language.
  4. I have so little Harry Potter knowledge I won't even read the posts since I don't get much. Saw the first movie when it was released in DVD. That's about it. As far as foot fetish goes, it usually goes with body odors; being turned on by smelly feet seems less foreign to me than shoe fetish (being turned on by the sight of shoes). I've long since stopped judging other people's fantasies as weird. There are two categories when it comes to fantasies you don't share: those that make you laugh and those that make you puke. Were people in general more able to enact their fantasies (between consenting adults and all the usual stuff...) there would be less anxiety and tension in the world. Who's Next? (and no one goes to pee on this concrete block, please)
  5. Veggies. I leave flowers to them straight guys like my dad, whose garden is fully blossoming at the moment. But tomatoes, zucchinis, etc. and homegrown? You bet! (I don't have a garden though)
  6. I didn't recognize him, the only movie I saw him in was A Very Long Engagement (movie worth being watched, though a bit disappointing compared to the novel it's adapted from), in which he's a bit older I'd say than in your avatar pic. And yes he's insanely cute. All the gossip blogs tell about his girlfriend.
  7. Having learned the hard way lately of censorship and double standards, I since have joined: 1/ The League for the Purity of Languagev (LPL) 2/ The Soap Mouth Washers Association (SMWWA) 3/ Bleepers United of Strong Language Which makes the Bad Words Even More Prominent in Somewhat Innocuous Speech. (BUSLWMBWEMPSIL) And I'd be glad to join Parents Who Take a Belt on Kids With Poor Manners and Who Won't Raise Themselves, Damn It!, if you can give me the address.
  8. Only two. I can manage reading a text in German if of interest, and have not that many problems with Spanish for reading the newspaper, and I would be able to get myself understood in a Spanish-speaking country. But I can't say I'm fluent. The person below me is having a great week-end so far.
  9. Foot fetishists would rather believe in sole mates.(Yeah, it's lame, but as I came lurking in, I had to get away leaving some profound statement and couldn't find any...)
  10. Science hasn't killed magic and irrational thinking yet. Maybe it's all for the better too.
  11. I never had a wish granted as I saw a shooting star. Money? Love? I'm not really sure. If wishes were actually granted, maybe I'd go for a more universal one, like" hateful people will start being tolerant and better to their neighbor". Quite sure I'd benefit from this eventually.
  12. It seems Colin and I cross-posted (see above). Thanks for the comments on the signature, if people notice it, maybe it's time to change it and advertise other stories of interest. As for the carrots/ glasses issue, I'd take it that had Conner not thought it was a lot of bunk, maybe he wouldn't wear glasses. And the number of glasses-wearing goats here is uncanny. I like carrots raw rather than cooked. It's the other way around for cauliflower.
  13. "try to avoid" and "no" are different. Personally I'd have him edit it with reply, which matches the "Add Reply" button. It would keep some sort of coherence that Kevin has been fighting for in laying out the way this game/challenge had to be played. Can the next person sing more praises of Kevin and his clever ideas? (And please do not mention this is obviously a post-whore trap, so delurk and join the randomness!)
  14. I think Brandon should keep a little mystery; I have way enough info in the prologue to make me want to know what comes next: he's a wannabe, he lives in the shade of the great Gabe whose respect he doesn't get, he's got skeletons in his closet... So, is CJ gonna have him meet his demise in a plane crash (Richie Valens, Lynnrd Skynnrd), get shot by Instinct fans (John Lennon), choke with his vomit (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin), strangle himself in breath play (Michael Hutchence) after he encounters brief stardom, thanks to Gabe's benevolence? No, this is promising.
  15. OK, I was curious to see what Graeme had written, since he seldom contributes to the games; and since the ratio was 2/ 10, I thought I'd help out with the statistics. I assume -from the lengthy set of rules depicted above- resond (underlined in red in my browser) was meant to be respond. Next: what synonym of respond could you propose to Kevin so he changes it in his initial posting?
  16. Nope, and I'm glad I haven't been witness to drama for a while. It tends to haunt you. The person below me is enjoying the coolness of the winter.
  17. At last! Someone who praises quality and not merely quantity. So congrats, and also for the great contributions to games, the comments on stories, sharing your personal questions and issues...
  18. This is a good idea. Thank you Kevin. Next person: Do you intend to contribute more to the games, and put all your good will in making Kevin's plea a success?
  19. Same here. Though maybe I thought "Wow! He's very cute!" And I do pull faces in the mirror once in a while; not often enough, since it's a symptom of me being in a good mood.
  20. A legendary album by the Beatles A mythical record by the Beach Boys And I was wrong, Pets Sounds was recorded in 1966. Sorry! Of course, adding info about an unanswered question allows me not to answer the angel/ demon question...
  21. A concert. I personally think concerts are more entertaining. Loud blasting music just appeals to me.. lol. I like plays too, but since you give me a choice... Sergeant Pepper's or Pet Sounds? (Both released in 1967, long before my birth, so no snickering, young 'uns!)
  22. What a pollster! You'd shame Mr. Gallup all right in your non-biased phrasing. I think my request would be more about frequency than length. A few figures, so people have some material to reflect upon: Ana chapter 1: 1438 words Ana chapter 2: 1831 words Ana chapter 3: 2308 words So chapter 2 has 393 more words than chapter 1, and chapter 3 has 477 more words than chapter 2. If this sets a trend, then chapter 4 should be around 2800 words. If you average your three chapters, it should be around 1859 words. The bottom line for me: 2,000 words is a good chapter. 1,500 words already makes a good read. And of course, let's not focus on quantity rather than on quality.
  23. Great! Congrats, my man. I'm not exactly surprised, but I hope we'll get to read even more of your superb prose now! (No, not putting more pressure on your shoulders! )
  24. I have thought about commenting your poems for a while. I love the little stories, that are rooted in some tough times for the narrator in them. Pain, sex, drugs, it's not all lilies and meadows. The pace and the rhythm in this one drive to this conclusion that opens on freedom. I'm not completely sure the shift in point of view at the end (The man watched the boy drink/ Studying the boy with a calculating stare/ He had noticed the boy pacing in the hall/ And for forty-five minutes he watched patiently) does not give it away a bit. Otherwise this is a pretty powerful poem. Another thing would be maybe to play with font and size a bit so it's slightly more appealing (my own little mania.)
  25. 1. Law & Order (original taste) 2. CSI 3. Supernatural (wish they weren't brothers...) Ever? Tougher one... 1. Six Feet Under 2. L & O 3. ALF
