  1. Extreme tragedy amid extreme love. Such a great, dramatic read! Hope you’re not going to add extreme loss to Ben and David’s story. Seems they’ve suffered enough. Fantastic storytelling and your English is absolutely charming. A pleasure to read.
  2. If you find yourself here, reading, to escape your reality or just to be entertained, then please read this. Look at every wrinkled, rumpled traveler carefully. Every wrinkle has a story. Know that a simple prompt created, and creates, closeness and, perhaps, love. Maybe just desire? Let your imagination run wild. Those wrinkled tweeds may hold a whole lifetime of experience. Desire. Need. Fool me once…

    Fool Me Once

An implied resolution is enough for me. A journey to the wrong destination is no less important, no less a journey. Not likely wrong. Questioned about a loneliness that’s “fine” in response. Is it? Could it be? My Monday, in February 2023, needed this story. Thank you @Parker Owens
  4. Evil. Hope. Want. Ruin. Quite the collection of four-lettered words. Implied, but unspoken, perhaps, fear and love should make the list. Hope, alone, is not likely a winning strategy.
  5. Impossible to pick a favorite line from these many chapters but this one is pure gold: “brains wide open for a little washing.”
  6. When everything is perfect what could go wrong? Who could deviate from perfection engineered? Humans. Human beings are inherently flawed. Maybe the deviation that is same sex love is almost bred out of us 400 years in the future but maybe, just maybe….Love is still love. A quick and reaffirming read, this tale, reminds us that love is love and we will go to the ends of the earth, the galaxy, to protect those we love. Love is love. How beautiful.

    Chapter 1

Would it be, is it, simpler to erase “mistakes” or embrace them? I suppose this is still up for discussion. Thank you for challenging the narrative, the result, the ‘right’ thing.
  8. You have my full attention.
  9. Embalming done at home wow. I’m going to practice singing that tune until it’s committed to memory because now mine eyes have seen the glory. All of characters have distinct voices in my head already. Friday!

Lort help me. That was intense. Really beautiful but really intense.

    Loss and Hope

Simply beautiful. If the powerful prose wouldn’t have done me in all by itself, I played the song. I wept for the beauty of it as much as the inevitable result. Bravo, Author.

    Next Steps

The yo-yo effect here is incredible. Soar high to where the guys, including Stanley and Kent, are and then whap, strike hard back against the reality that is Markus is suffering. And then there’s the bookstores and my vivid imagination…

    An Arrangement

Feeling very proud, and very sad, for Markus. I’m sure Victoria is a good Catholic like my own mother. My hope for Nate is materializing. I didn’t expect this to form a playlist in my head but Nate seems to be a bridge over troubled waters. Beautiful.

    Awakening

Stanley’s movie choice was first rate. Jack and the boys take me back 20+ years but that’s no so relevant here. Wonderful building block though. I’m waiting patiently for Markus.

    Time

I suspected something inoperable. I understand Tad’s reasoning, his choice. To commit to chemotherapy and radiation is, in my experience, agreeing to have a near death experience for the chance of living. If it had been Glioblastoma I would have made the same choice he has made. I can’t fault Christopher either. I can’t count, in retrospect, how many times I would have been tempted to walk away if I was the guy in the chair not the bed. Cancer sucks.
  17. This fine tale about tail is a worthy read. Isaac Goldeneye carries the weight of the world, his lonely world, on his back. Another town, another job. Another night alone. His only mistress is the moon. An unparalleled expert in his field he never ducks from his responsibilities. Isaac is steady. Isaac is sure until he isn’t. A distant sound. A long-standing desire. How could Roswell, New Mexico be different? Let’s see …

    Indifference

I have hope for Nate to grow up and become more introspective. That was a lousy first time for Kent. So much mystery, I’m hooked.

    Chapter 1

Solid foundation for the story and the boys. Love is love.

    Chapter 1

Picked this to read on my flight home and I made a very unbecoming noise when I read the last line. The gentleman in the center seat now thinks I’m a loon. Great read!

    Chapter 11

I’m so sorry you had the slightest caution. Goodness, please know you’re among friends. I think you just coined a word: followship! You have mine.

    Chapter 11

Seems it’s always difficult when rules change. Consistency is important. At the same time, change is a constant in life. Church-ish response from Alex’s dad if I judge it by my own experience. I’d love to know why you think this chapter might create lively discussion @gdaniel
  23. As a recovering Catholic I am deeply moved by this. Thank you.
  24. Agape. How simple, how beautiful.
  25. So pleased there’s more to come! Caught up on all the drama of the two recent chapters. So good!
