I find your story to be a welcome addition and a pleasure to read. Another commenter used the word “authentic” (agreed) to describe the prose and your voice does shine through. You asked some specific questions and I’ll answer. I find your story believable, so far, and the entire situation is within the realm of possibility. I look forward to reading more. I am but one gay man and it’s not my place to deem this story, your story, any story, acceptable or otherwise. As for your warning that there will be little sex, I definitely find that acceptable. I am following now so I’m happy to share my thoughts on future chapters. I think you’ll find the community here very accepting otherwise they wouldn’t be here reading. I am tee-totally wrung out from this reading…in the best possible way. Powerful prose! Masterful storytelling. An absolute delight to read. I, along with all who’ve read this I’m sure, would welcome a continuation if it’s in the cards. Maybe a shivaree and a mystery? Bravo Author, Bravo!

I wouldn’t say that was acceptance from Wade as much as it was acquiescence but it seems to signal change. Positive change. As I sit reading this in my home in the Appalachian foothills I have to comment on, and commend, the unique voices each of these characters have. No small feat there and I can hear them, one and all, loud and clear. The warning tone in Rachel’s voice as she spoke to Casey in bed with both a ‘ye’ and a ‘ya’? Fantastic!

I chose the teardrop emoji because I wept. Other moments have given me wet eyes but they were mostly moments where one of these amazing characters was experiencing pain. Of course there’s pain here as well but I found it to be smothered under beauty and love. ❤️

The Artem I dated linked the need to his PTSD from the first Gulf War. He said he wasn’t into it before his service and was very articulate about what he wanted and when. It was not a sustainable situation or relationship for twenty-something me.
