I was wondering the same thing but just shrugged it off because I didn't want to be a smartass about it . I'm a native German speaker and you're correct. Sch is sh. in any case. Guess I could have saved Mike some research time... -
[DomLuka] Books or Internet Fiction?
Liddy replied to Liddy's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
I think you have some good points. Many internetstories are not continued and just end abrubtly. It's annoying, especially if the story was good. I've also had that happen to books though, I checked for this one series to be continued and it never happened (and that was 10 years ago). The author even had a preview at the end of the last book and it sounded so good! . Mean! But again. I have no way to bug this author about it. I have to disagree on the editing part. Since the Lord of the Rings Fantasy-hype there are so many cheap and bad translations of books (that in the original language probably are really good) it's not even funny. I absolutely HATE it when suddenly for example Lisa becomes Laura and you wonder for the next ten pages who the hell she is when you notice that it's the exact same person! I don't really mind spelling mistakes, because I think dictionaries should be more open to alternative spellings. I mean: u gt wat te prsn wnts to sai, right? Let'S not become extreme, but loosen up a little (My teachers disagree), let language evovle. Ok Another problem I'm facing with books is: ghostwriter. I had a favorite author (note the use of past tense (his name is Wolfgang Hohlbein, he just had a really good book of his translated to English, M -

I guess you've found them. But you're right, the same applies for movies. Sometimes I watch a movie and I find myself thinking 'I've got to find some fanfiction from this movie/this character' and even though lots of time fanfiction is strange, there is some good stuff out there. -
I'll bring the stripper. Make him regret it a LOT

[DomLuka] Best and Worst Parents
Liddy replied to AFriendlyFace's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Awwww *hands tissue* I noticed that most parents are either really awsome or really assholeish. An exception is Quinn's mom, which is why I'm not so sure, on the one hand she's supportes Jude on the other she ignores his relationship with Quinn and that leads to akward moments. She's probably not even the worst mom, but the last chapter of TOU made me like her the least, because she SHOULD be different. Otherwise she's really cool, but this was sooooo dissapointing. Thumbs up that she didn't withdraw her support for Jude though. Worst mom- Quinn's mom Best mom- grandma Alice She supported her daughter and later her grandson so much. Plus she reminds me of my mom (can be though, but it never gets boring) Best dad- Rory's dad It's so cute how he's all insecure about being a father, but tries so hard to be a good father. Worst dad- That's a hard one, Dom's stories are full of bad dads. The obvious choice would be the Dave Martin's dad, Dennis's dad is also an ass. Owen's dad is also bad. The Martin's dad is a psycho, so I think I'm not going to include him, because to me he doesn't qualify as a "normal" person or a father - I know, sounds tough. Dennis raises his children to be violent and Owen's dad makes the same mistake twice. This is a hard decision. I think I'll pick Owen's dad because Dennis's dad at least provides entertainment in ITFB. Worst dad- Owen's dad That's my vote -

It's similar in Spanish. When I went to see "Spiderman" I was confused when my sister told the guy at the counter "Eh-s-pheeder-mahn". Drive-trough is "MacAuto" and things like that, it's really entertaining. -

*munchesoncookie* aww, thank you both!!! -
Awww, what a cute image I actually like getting up early and having a whole day ahead of me. I'm pretty stress-resistant, but if I feel I get to buisy and it feels like I have to do soooo much I jst try to roll and have fun doing it. A spoonfull of sugar and all that stuff? With a cup of coffee learing for finals can be bearable, with music a big spring-cleaning can be fun, with an umbrella an a warm sweater walking the dog in the rain can be allright. There are precious moments in every day that I enjoy I look for these moments. Even though some days it's harder then others. But it can be a new shower gel or a song on the radio that can make my day and I often find myself going to bed, excited for the new day to start so I can for example use my new shower gel again or eat a jogurt that I'm looking forward to eating for breakfast. Take care, Liddy

Do you really think your gay son would want you to point out hot guys? I know my mother never did and I'm glad she didn't . Back to topic: Obviously I wouldn't care ..., but I think I'd have a tendencie to having a gay son/daughter because I think, if the parents let the kids know they're ok with it, it can really create a family bond and help you get to know your kid better in a time that he/she doesn't want you to know him/her better. I also noticed that through the whole coming-out process many guys/girls have gotten to know themselves better, or so it seems, and while that may be true for straight people also and is probably also a part of how they were brought up, I still think that (with the right surrounding (wouldn't want my child to be gay in Afganistan) and the support of the family (and with me as a mother my kid definitly WOULD have that)) this can create wonderful people that apreciate their differences and have a healthy self-confidence and an understanding of others. I hope that makes sense. Take care everybody, Liddy

[DomLuka] Books or Internet Fiction?
Liddy replied to Liddy's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Seriously? Am I the only overly curiuos person here? I sometimes even skip to the end of a paragraph and read it backwards. I also have no problem in reading the same story or book twice. I tend just "forget" what I know is going to happen. I think especially the part were you mention that we're all on the same part at the same time. Two friends and I have the same taste in books so every once in a while we give each other books. Sometimes they want to talk about a chapter in detail, but if it's been a while since I read it I sometimes don't remember exact chapters or mix them, especially with series. Something that bothers me about some books, and this might sound trivial to some, is the format. Sometimes the print is really weird (Bibles often have that) and the page looks full and doesn't have paragraphs. For some reason it bothers me and I make it part of my decision to read or not to read a book (even though, as I said, it's trivial) -

Good thing I now have a more tolerant English teacher (British, by the way, the other wasn't even British, he just insisted on the spelling and pronounciation) rollin on da floor laffn
