He could be tough, masculine and in need of his car being repaired. Or maybe he could be a male nurse or physician's assistant for the town's doc who went to high school with Finn and liked him and came back after getting his training. He could meet and help Finn when he came in for care from his battle with Kyle. He would be a caring, soothing person

In terms of the Canada situation. another Tet like attack on a major Canadian city when the country was supposedly pacified might well shock US citizens and the media in the lower 48 and cause them to lose support for Trump and the GOP. In the Viet Nam war the US gave up the countryside and sought to control the cities. It was called a "Strategic Hamlet" method You could tell how successful that strategy was by the success of the Tet Offensive in Saigon. The media cratered in shock and the US public turned against the war.

Finn thought Garret did not yet know what he needed---his medicine or his poison. The way the story was written the just needed a spark or just luck for maybe two or even all three to meet at some point. I bet they would have more opportunities to get together in other ways than shown in his story. They would connect since are so close in age , attended the same high school at the same time and have no other sexual partner or close friend and are stuck in the town with limited job possibilities Garret kept looking across his workplace at his old high school classmate and he was intrigued by him. His life was full of pain and hate and Finn collected part of Garrets miseries. He did not see a mate or think about Finn in a sexual way. Any sexual playing from their meetings would be the glue that kept them in each other's mind. Garret's car broke down and Finn saw him and helped Garret to get his car to the shop late at night. Finn wanted to help this guy. They were not friends. Finn worked on the car and fixed it after a time. Getting close to one another afterwards one thing led to another and a strong sexual chemistry aroused them and made them want each other. Kyle was fucked three times. Garret was unleashed and surprised. He had never fucked a guy before. He liked it, On the way back from fucking Finn, Garret went to Tim Horton's and met Kyle who was the staff guy on duty.
