  1. I agree. It does seem a bit surprising, especially since Charlie is the person closest to him and could have been a role model in that regard. But, as I mentioned before, we don't actually know much about their sibling relationship. Also, Nate seems to be more of an introvert and may have been trying to live up to his mother's expectations. If one son is gay, there could be an unspoken pressure on the other to provide the "traditional" family she might have envisioned...with a wife, children, and the conventional path in life.
  2. I was even more surprised by Neil's confession that he had been watching an online exercise video because he was attracted to the ripped guy in it. That suggests he was already bi-curious before coming to the concert. In fact, part of his motivation for attending may have been the possibility of meeting Alex, who is openly gay. This shows that Neil isn't one of those "gay just for you" characters; he was already in the process of exploring his sexuality and discovering himself. Still, it's interesting that he never discussed these thoughts or feelings with Charlie.

    Chapter 6

Darien would say - "It's not like that!"

    Chapter 6

The Vanguard military campaign is the first Pride in history... unless @Topher Lydon comes up with a story from the Greek or Roman era next! 😁

    Chapter 6

You did well, Julian," Darien said softly, his voice thick with earnest, heavy pride. "You are becoming a leader. A very good one. I am proud to call you my squire." Darien is speaking as a commander, a father... or perhaps both! Amazing camaraderie - a true family.
  6. Wishing you a fast recovery - you've been missed! 🍀
  7. Found it in promotion folder! 🤪

    Chapter 5

Sitting in the shade as a warlord, Darien must have looked like Caesar on his throne! What a journey for Lord Haskal's little squire.

    Branding Day

Interesting theory of "human branding"... Taggert - target. Even if it's only a cigarette burn mark on the skin, it can leave deep childhood trauma. Nevertheless, Taggert is a very complex character. There is the core trauma itself, but also the heavy burden of living with it. His "odd" vibe unsettles people, and it makes us wonder how many other ranchers were far less flexible or accepting than those around him.

    Literary or...? Sorry...just...ignore me! 🤪

    Chapter 4

    Maybe some juicy epilogue...? 😜

    Chapter 4

Hey @Topher Lydon, I have a question about the previous chapter. When Radoslav asked Darien what his sword was called, Darien said it didn't have a name. But didn't he name it Thorn earlier in the story? And one more thing - were you hinting that Guy died in the siege?

    Chapter 4

A moron would probably interpret it as a divine message - something like: "Shit in your shoe, a crown on your head." 💩🤴

    Chapter 4

Wasn't Latin part of Darien's and Ser Val's education? Or was it something they learned only for church services and religious matters?
  15. I haven't received the survey in my email. Nevertheless, I don't think it would have changed the majority opinion much. Great work, guys!

Norris has the mentality of a beast, while Anton is the cunning one. They seem like the obvious suspects... perhaps a little too obvious. It almost feels as though the author is trying to lead us down the wrong path. But she wouldn't do that to us, would she? 😁 As for Lawrence... he went a bit too far this time. Hurting Bastien is one thing, but doing it publicly? He should know better!
  17. Am I wrong, or does Alex’s insistence come across as possessive teenage schoolgirl behavior? And then there’s the guilt-tripping… Since when did his life mission become leading Neil onto the “right path”?

    Chapter 3

    I LOVE your terminology!!! 😂

    Chapter 3

This ritual punishment of the middle brother reminds me of the “whipping boy” from Mark Twain’s novel The Prince and the Pauper. The boy’s duty was to take Prince Edward’s punishment upon himself in the court of King Henry VIII. But there, the boy was an outsider; here, it is the middle brother himself who bears the punishment, which brings out so many additional emotions - mainly guilt, but also revolt and rage. Whatever the Seljuk princes are going to do to their grandfather, it will be well deserved.

The scene with the mask reminds me of Rebecca - the famous scene at the costume ball when the new Mrs. de Winter wears Rebecca’s dress, following Mrs. Danvers’s suggestion. Now, who from The Golden Circle has the wicked mind of Mrs. Danvers?!

    Chapter 2

And Darien is more of a LORD than many who inherited the title through generations of nobility!

    Chapter 2

I understand the transformation that war makes of man... But if I had to define my earlier thoughts:

    Chapter 2

This is interesting because I had a feeling that King Radoslav wouldn’t survive the war.

    Chapter 2

    Extra dose of steam! 😁
  25. I'm so glad you came back to react to these comments, because you reminded me of this... So, tell me, @CasualWanderer82 how “far” would you go... without giving away any spoilers? 🤣
