Hockey....everything to do with the coolest game on earth
Tarin replied to wildone's topic in The Lounge
Okay, okay. Pittsburg has been playing a really good game at home. However, get them out of (is it Melon Arena?) and they just can't keep up with Detroit. I think that with Detroits improved (though still inadequate) performance on the road Tuesday they are seeting up for a fantastic game 7. I don't see a blowout like game 5, but I see Detroit dominating play for at least 20 minutes. I'm looking at a 4-2 win for Detroit with no empty-net goal. As long as Detroit can stay out of the peanalty box, and refs have been more fair since game 4. /me is late for a meeting -
I have a question for the FF and Chrome users. Can you save tab sessions? In Opera you can save tab sessions and then load them later. I've never used this, but it seems nifty. Also you can set a tab session as default at launch. I usually use Pandora, GA, GA Chat, and three browsing tabs. I've been thinking about using this feature. Do FF and Chrome have these options? I forgot to mention Speed Dial. I never use speed dial on my phone. I use it on Opera. It displays 9 mini screenshots (live) of websites. I only have 8 on mine, but it is a one click connect rather than two clicks in favourites or typing a few letters in the address bar. I've never had enough windows open that my tabs scroll in Opera, but then again I try to control my tabs.

I used IE6 until a few weeks ago when my pleading allowed me to get IE7 at work. I hate it so much. Opera. I am having a secret love affair with Opera and I plan to move to Oslo so I can marry it. Honestly? Opera is the fastest browser I have ever used. I am in love with the web standards. Pairing it with Opera Mini on my e71 is a dream come true. It has nice features built in. The Transfers window is amazing. I know that I am getting the best features first (save in-line spell check). Opera Voice is stellar, but I look like a fool talking to my computer. FireFox is a good backup. I had a nasty issue upgrading Opera and accidentally closing the install window resulting in a non-functional mess. I used FF to fix that. Oh, and sometimes for Facebook. IE8 is installed...can't figure out why. Safari is a good browser, but i have a PC. Chrome is...not for me.

I used to subscribe to National Geographic, but I stopped about a year ago. I never had time to read it. Great pictures and stories. I purchase Winq -- Global Queer Culture when it comes out, but it seems to be only twice a year. Great stories and photography, lots of fashion ideas. Not that I can afford the featured designers. I'm planning on buying a subscription to MiLK -- Le magazine de mode enfantine. I have no further comment on this one. In order to pick a magazine you should think of what you like the most. Pick a topic then a magazine. However, one can never go wrong with National Geographic.

Well, honestly I expected Detroit to lose, I just expected the Penguins to win by outplaying us. The refs decided this game, I hope G4 is more fair. Win or lose. I am referring to the holding and interference calls on Detroit, I saw worse from both sides that refs let slide in G1, 2 and G3. Also the 6 men on the ice, come on, that was stupid. Cheat to win? -

Ok, so the officiating tonight was a joke. I'm losing faith in the NHL fast. Tonight was just sad... -
Uh, yeah. Pretty much. Now why didn't I say it like that? Thanks Mark!

Okay, first of all he said he's not a paedophile. Second of all that word doesn't even apply in this situation. 14 is not a little kid, depending on his development he may be a mid or even late teen. Just because he one time is infatuated with someone a little "too young" doesn't mean he is consistantly attracted to "young children." A four year gap cerainly isn't terrible anyway, as long as he knows when to act and when not to act on his feelings. I would understand your concern if he said "Dave is 8" instead of year 8, but come on. I'm sorry Benji, I don't mean to rant on you, I just hate how people sometimes jump to conclusions without considering the other person's situation or feelings.
-
Wow! That is a great game Benji! It took me about 10 tries before I trapped it! Thanks.

Just an additional tidbit; there are often rules about age gaps and consent, usually gaps of 4-5 years or for people under a certain age. If you do end up having a relationship with him, make sure you read the laws yourself (your provincial website should have them, or a local library). If you have any doubts, consult a lawyer. With anyone as well, not just him. You might fancy some 17 year old at uni and come to find out too late since you are over 18 you can't touch him. (By the way, "over 18" means 18 years 1 day.) Agreeing with Meeko, it is your choice to pursue a relationship and ultimately his if there is to be one. Be careful and don't pressure him, as that can end up being a disaster even if it doesn't involve the law.

I have seen the data from the survey and their claim is on almost statistically insignificant numbers. Don't get your hopes up. That would indeed be the safer move, probably the smarter one as well. Just because he has blood brothers doesn't mean he doesn't want an older friend that he can speak frankly with. However, if you are emotionally involved this can be dangerous for your emotions as well. Whether you choose to become a friend or try to explore your emotions more remember to respect his limits as well as any applicable laws.

I hope you were joking, because otherwise that is just plain mean. Okay, so I did attempt to read both this post and the "crush" one, however I'm not the best at reading rambling like that. If I do get something wrong, I apologise and ask that you please clarify in well thought out sentences. Yes, he is young. Is he too young? That isn't a question that I can answer, nor can anyone else on this forum. You are 18 and he is 14 physically, however mentally there may be less of a difference. I don't mean to offend you, but by the way you are typing and the license prohibition I think you are probably emotionally a bit behind your physical age. 18 is not a magic number and just because you are 18 doesn't mean you are instantly an adult all grown up and ready to have an "adult" relationship. If he is emotionally mature enough for a relationship, which only he can determine, then I don't see harm in being together. I am not encouraging you to do anything illegal. He is most likely still below the age of consent. The age of consent is an arbitrary number and people seem to take it too much to heart, that people younger than the AoC are incapable of being sexual, sensual or even mentally mature enough for a relationship. Again, don't get yourself locked up. Generally, if he is mature enough to have a real relationship with you he will be willing to wait. Same goes for you, if you are mature enough to be with him you will wait, usually. Now for a reality check. He probably doesn't feel the same about you. If I caught everything in your previous posts, you still don't know if he is gay. So that gives you a 10% chance that he actually is interested in guys. Add on top of that that you are 4 years older and admittedly not <insert sexy celeb here>.
-
See now that is worth reading. Indeed I had not thought of the evolution of one's self. Even words evolve in their definition; an easy example is "gay," though there are others such as "pants". I wonder how I would have answered this question 5 years ago... True, what I carry is very common. The exerscise was to try and get you thinking about why you carry these items. The story and explanation are far more interesting and relevant than the actual object. I doubt most people you ask why they carry keys would say "as a way to escape." I think that is were the exercise was going, either that or it was corporate BS. *shrug* Thanks Kevin!

Haha, good joke! So who else enjoyed watching the Blackhawks throw a hissy fit? They should let their balls drop before they play Detroit again. -
I used to lie on these tests to get lawful good. However, at this point in my life I feel that I am neutral good. Sometimes laws are stupid, but I like to do the right thing. This test disagrees, and I do see how it defines me as thus. Since lawful could be a personal code as well as the law of the land, I will have to agree with the test. Lawful Neutral- A lawful neutral character acts as law, tradition, or a personal code directs him. Order and organization are paramount to him. He may believe in personal order and live by a code or standard, or he may believe in order for all and favor a strong, organized government. Lawful neutral is the best alignment you can be because it means you are reliable and honorable without being a zealot. However, lawful neutral can be a dangerous alignment because it seeks to eliminate all freedom, choice, and diversity in society.

First I shall respond to others. Jamessavik: Your avatar is very accurate in how you define yourself, it was a good choice. Did you draw it or commission it? Kevin: I must admit I am a bit disappointed at how lightly you seem to have taken the question. I generally love reading your thoughtful and in depth responses, but I feel you just wrote a dating profile and nothing more. Old bob: Regarding 2: That is an interesting point. However I feel that when you are defined by others you are not being truly defined. It is like writing a poem; the writer may have one specific emotion behind it and one meaning. However when others read the poem they do not get the exact same meaning. If you can define yourself and understand yourself, I see that as being more important than any words anyone else can use to define you. My turn: What defines you? Just last week my office got together out of work and we had an exercise designed by out “fun team.” It theorized that the things that we carry are the things that define us. These are the items you always have with you, regardless of where you go. While at the exercise we only shared one item, every item we carry defines who we are as a person. It seems fairly accurate, so I will explore it in depth here. On my key ring I carry several things. I carry my house keys. They represent my need for safety, a place to call home and the warmth I feel there. Shelter needed to survive, and the love of my family. I carry my car keys. They represent my need to be mobile, my flight instinct. The knowledge that retreat is only as far as turning a key provides me comfort. I carry my bike key. This is my wish to be a better person, to be healthy by physical exertion. I carry my QuizBowl keychain, representing my trivia knowledge and my past as a nerd and a geek and my pride therein. I also carry my flash drive (usb [thumb] drive). This is me as a student. I carry it always and it contains my schoolwork as well as a few other files of pleasure. It defines me as a computerized artist and as a businessperson. I carry many things in my wallet. Money, it shows my greed and dependence on society. I carry my blood donor card to show my desire to help others in need. My debit card shows my need for instant gratification as well as responsibility and financial independence. I carry several membership cards, showing my conformity and false na

I go the first Monday after opening weekend. This year it was "Physics Math and Science Day" so were were lots of high schools and a few middle schools there. Long lines but plenty of eye candy. I actually was a little pervy and took secret camera phone pictures in queues of the really cute boys. I was kinda really bad at it, but it was fun anyway. I got one or two pictures of cute boys, but I felt guilty afterwards... I might go again later this summer, but if I do it would probably (hopefully) be with a boyfriend...so perv pictures wouldn't be on the agenda...lol

Are you serious? There is nothing about the Red Wings that is "robotic." They play the game of hockey how it is supposed to be played, quick movement great passing and a few hits when needed. When I watch some other teams I see them "pass" and wonder why they barely ever complete a one (the teams left are all pretty good in this respect). Then there are teams that just throw their weight around and hope to beat the opponent into submission. Hockey is about teamwork, the Red Wings exemplify that. From line 1 to 4 all 6 players on the ice work together and as hard as they can. -
I am afraid of elevators. Which really sucks because I work on floor 15 with all the executive staffs. I'm mostly over it, but I used to never go on them. I got mostly over it on one elevator ride, I was with my young friend and I was so scared. He said I could hold him if I was scared, and I just clung to him for all 4 flights of the trip. It was a glass elevator so it was super scary. It felt so good to hold him, and when we got to the top I felt so relaxed. Every time I get in an elevator I think of how he felt in my arms and I just melt; before I know it I'm at my destination floor. Millipedes too. Eeesh...so many legs. Umm, that's all I really have that are irrational...I mean I fear getting shot when I have a gun pointed in my face. Luckily those times are few and far between...

I always use Amazon, I always will. I love it. You whine about all of these things I've never seen evidence for. Amazon has a great selection of everything. From sci-fi to romance to pederasty. Amazon is a huge site, with millions of customers, and they have to please everyone. If they feature GBLT stuff, they piss off the right wing and lose customers. Why not lose customers that are already angry and will stop at nothing to find a way in which they are being persecuted? I mean, they apologized already, and how do you know that this didn't affect all kinds of books? Did you search for every book in existence? Why is everyone always out to get you? I'm willing to take Amazon's apology as the truth. Stuff happens, things go wrong.

Geez you guys are all so hot...hehe. Ok, I promised I would try and get the fancy camera from work, but I phailed because I was sooo busy. Instead you get the crappy webcam built into my computer. This is without my glasses since the screen casts such a glare on them.
-
Just wanted to make sure you all saw that. I've seen some really hot guys in this thread, and I'd love to see most of them when I first wake up. My first choice is: Troye Sivan. How gorgeous can you be? He is a really awesome guy and he can sing. Always smiling and following his dreams to the fullest extent.
