  1. A great second installment, I presume if your reading this then you have read the first book already. Writing this review after reading the whole series including "Next Generation"

  2. Its a great start to a fantastic series of books I'm writing this review after reading all the the currently published installments. If you do plunge in expect highs and lows and a rollercoaster of emotions as the books continue to chart the progress of the Castaway hotel. I've been lucky enough to read the whole series of the last few weeks and although I would say it is generally an uplifting tale there are some parts that had me weeping. This is not because the books are all doom and gloom but testament to @Bill Wwriting and characters that you will fall in love with. Many thanks again for what must have been a real labour of love.

  3. I'll be upfront and say that I'm writing this review after enthusiastically devouring all the books in the series. If you love a were-creatures tale its up there with some of my favourites especially as it centres on an expanding group of were-bears. The world is beautifully described with just enough detail for your imagination to do the rest. It starts off quite dark but it definitely gets better. The story moves along at a good pace with a cast of loveable and not so loveable characters that had me invested after just a few chapters. @Grumpy Bear has created an incredible first story of the "Werebears in America" collection and the subsequent books just get better and better.

    The Benefactors

ARGHHH! I broke my rule about not starting to read story unless it was completed but I couldn't help myself lol. I enjoyed the first 5 books so much that I couldn't resist. I do hope it continues as I really want to see the lions get their comeuppance and Tau and Chikondi free from the tyrannical emperor. I pray to Odin that @Grumpy Bear can find the inspiration to complete yet another fantastic instalment of the "Werebears of America" series

    Epilogue

Great story and I'm so looking forward to staring the second book. Hooray for the gay authors archive.
  6. I have just finished reading this story after binge reading the four two books. If you haven't read them then stop reading this as I might mention some of the plot ( I wouldn't want to spoil anything) I started reading the first book while recovering from a bought of covid (second time catching it) Everything happens at such a fast pace and there are so many twists and turns that it felt like a never ending rollercoaster. I had one major problem with the fifth book, the prime villains in story (Jeff and Kevin) they were such important part of the previous stories that when they went evil it just didn't seem to make sense. I know there needs to be protagonists but I found it hard to believe that they turn on their children (even with the whole eunuch thing) I see that there seems to be one more chapter to read (the Michaels family holidays) but it seems to be on a long term hold so I don't know if I should read it given your propensity for a cliff hanger. Overall I loved the story, I've been working my way through all the paranormal stories in the archive and enjoyed the ability to read the stories from start to finish. I'm not sure I could wait for updates in real time so the archive has been a godsend. I do hope you might revisit the paranormal genre as its good to escape into another world especially given the times we are living in. Thanks for the hard work in creating this world and this story.
  7. This will be short and sweet because I've ran out of superlatives for this tribology when reviewing the previous 2 books. Safe to say this is another great instalment and brings to a fitting end the Hybrid Journey series. Its a story of redemption and after concentrating on Caleb in the beginning the book culminates in the final battle. A great conclusion (I wish it wasn't) to a really exciting read that had me enthralled for several days as I just couldn't put it down. Thanks again to @kbois for the considerable time and effort that went into creating this amazing world.
  8. As you can tell from the review I wrote for Spirit Wolves I have nothing but good things to say about this series. I started reading the second book and at first was a bit disappointed that we were concentrating on one of the secondary characters from the first book. Oh boy how wrong was I! After a couple of chapters I was hooked again. I didn't think it was possible to top the first instalment but the there are so many emotional ups and downs that again I was compelled to read chapter after chapter (so lucky that I found the series completed, I don't think I could have waited for the updates to be posted lol) As with the first book the characters are beautifully brought to life through @kbois excellent writing. There were even more cliffhangers in this one and the one at the end is a incredible. I was going to take a break after the "Shadow Effect" but there was no way I couldn't plough on to the third book "The light at the end of the tunnel" after the last few paragraphs of chapter 40. If your thinking of reading this you must read Spirit Wolves first. Its unthinkable that after reading the first book that you couldn't be anything but compelled to read the rest of the series. I'm hoping we might tempt @kbois to dip there toes back into the paranormal genre as these are a particular favourite of mine. Thanks again for devoting your time and talent to this fantastic story. I will be posting my review for the third book soon but as I said before anyone who read "Spirit Wolves" and now "Shadow Effect" will need no encouragement to read the complete saga.
  9. WOW, I'm writing this my first review after reading the 3 books that make Hybrid Journey. I know I should have written this after completing book 1 but I literally couldn't stop my self from devouring the rest of the series in the last few days (Hooray for the story archive) I really can't imagine the work and patience needed to complete such a monumental story. I feel blessed that I got to start reading knowing that the whole story was available. I don't think I could have coped waiting for updates, even sleep was difficult and I found I had to drag myself from the screen to go to bed. I don't know if the term "page turner" is appropriate in this digital age but this was all that and more. I really have become addicted to the paranormal genre and for a first attempt to create a story in the shifter word this was EPIC. The characters are well rounded and pull you into the story, the world they live in is well crafted and filled with glorious detail. It took me a couple of chapter to get hooked and then I couldn't stop myself from moving to the next instalment. I don't want to go into too much detail as I fell it might spoil the rollercoaster journey you go on as the story progresses but I would recommend this work to everyone whether you a fan of shifters or not. The underlying love story between "mates" and friendships of the exquisitely created ensemble characters is beautiful and heartwarming. In conclusion this has been one of my favourite reads of the past few years, my only regret is that the story has ended but I suppose all good thing must come to an end eventually. I really hope we might get some more tales from this intriguing world as I feel a bit lost waking up in the morning knowing another chapter isn't waiting for me. A huge thankyou from a now devoted fan in the UK to the author for their incredible work and the sheer tenacity to complete fantastic tale, BRAVO. I look forward to reading more of your stories but I find it hard to believe that this series could be topped. I know I will be reading this one again at some point as I did find my self speed reading to find out what happened next after those pesky cliffhangers. This has absolutely nothing to do with the writing and everything to do with my impatience to find out what happened to the beloved characters.

    Chapter 33

Thanks for a wonderful story, I fell in love with the main characters and the Portento world. I was able to read the whole thing over a couple of days which was a joy. Unfortunately all good things come to an end, I have to say that I was a little saddened knowing I was reading the last chapter. I hope that after all these years that the well rounded characters and intriguing setting might warrant a second installment. 🤞
  11. I think this is the second time reading this but I enjoyed it just as much, Luckily the story was complete so I had the joy of reading it over a couple of days. I do really hope that we get a second book, I'm sure there are lots of Characters and events that would make for an exciting continuation. Thanks for a fantastic story and I really hope you find the inspiration and time to revisit this intriguing world. A fan from the UK

Love this story had me hooked and I couldn't go to bed until it was finished

    Chapter 41

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Carthera world you have created. I had the joy of being able to read all of them in the last few days (I don't know I could have waited for weekly updates lol). As many of the other comments have mentioned there seems to be many story lines left unfinished but I'm guessing from the many years since the last one was published that it might not happen 🙁. I'm working my way through the gayauthors.org archive at the moment which has been great as I get to read complete stories. I don't comment much but felt should after enjoying the series over the last few days. Looking forward to checking out your other stories but I must admit that I have soft spot for Lycan/shifters tales.
