  1. Wow mm, that's some heady company you put me in, and while I don't deserve that, I do appreciate the sentiment. Six years...we've watched you grow up together! And a confession: I've never read either War and Peace or Les Mis in their entireties. That's way too much for my ADD to handle. ;-) You have to wait a few more days for what's next. LOVE, ma
  2. "Proper" isn't a term I hear used much in reference to my writing, so allow me to pause and snaugh at that. :-) Thanks for expressing how vividly these characters live for you. Some authors like to take a lot of time to describe a scene, and I sometimes worry that I leave out too much, but then again, I think that if the emotions and the basics are there, it's better to let the reader paint in the details with their own impressions.
  3. Thanks Miles. It really makes me feel good to hear you say that I've handled the losses responsibly. That was the thing I learned from 1968; you better have a damned good reason to kill off a key figure.
  4. Thanks. It is a lot of work for me, but I'm glad you mentioned my team, because it's a lot of work for them too. Although it is kind of fun to flood Sharon with chapters. ;-)

    Thanks! I will.

Thanks for that nice review Ed. And feel free to come out and comment more! It's very flattering to be able to evoke that kind of an emotional response in a reader without making the reader resent it. And if time in the saddle, as it were, could craft a master, I've definitely put the time in!

Wow! That's part review, part life story. I love it. Thanks! I'm glad you liked 9.11. You are not the only one who would like JP's sagacity!
  8. The Arizona bill has been vetoed, but legislation like this has been introduced here in Missouri too. It won't make it past our governor, but it may have a shot at getting to his desk. I hate living in a red state.
  9. , but I'm wondering what possessed you to hang out in a comment thread on labiaplasty. Doesn't seem like something you'd be into.

When the final chapter of 9.11 is posted (excluding this note), it will encompass some five months in CAP time (June, 2001 to November, 2001). I started publishing 9.11 on April 14, 2013, and completed posting it in February, 2014, some ten months later. Pretty ironic that it took us twice as long to write, edit, beta, and publish the story than the time that elapsed in the novel. The book will consist of slightly more than 500,000 words. To put that into perspective, War and

    Chapter 78

I'm glad you liked it, and I hope you get enjoyment out of re-reading Bloodlines. The verdict is definitely out on Matt and Wade, but regardless, I can't see them as anything less than friends. They've been through too much together.
  12. Yet it is curious that HMS Valiant was a 74-gun ship of the line (a two-decker) while the ship pictured is not.

    Chapter 78

For a story this dire and miserable, I'll mark that as a notable achievement. Thanks!
  14. Ramis went to my alma mater, Washington University (here in St. Louis), for his undergrad years, and was a Beta. He was there a long tie before I was though. The Betas were always known as a rowdy, loutish bunch of guys, and Ramis used his experiences there to help draft the movie Animal House. Some of the Betas in my day were pretty cute. Even hooked up with one (or two).

    Chapter 78

Thanks Edward. You know, when I write the conversations between JP and Will, they just flow, as I can so easily visualize those two bantering. Will (young, irrepressible, and playful) and JP (mature, staid, and logical)...such a fun blend.

Thanks Maarten. JP is still fun to write, although he doesn't throw very good tantrums. ;-) I think there is reason for hope.

A Jerry Springer Thanksgiving? As the last chapter? LMAO. That would have been interesting. I'm glad you liked the story!

    Chapter 78

Thanks. But is this your nice way of saying that I used to suck, but now I'm better? (SMILE). All kidding aside, there's a very different feel (IMHO) to the earlier novels and the later ones, and I hope that reflects my growth as an author. I've never wanted to just play God with reader's emotions. I think that if bad (or good) things happen, there has to be some credibility to that decision.
