    Chapter 32

    Sometimes people get bitchy.
  2. Some of you probably already know this, but you can leave reviews for each chapter you read, if you want to. I don't want any of you to feel pressured to do that, but I did want to point it out. I'll try to respond to each one unless my ADD decides otherwise!
  3. And now a surprise for all of you patient readers. Chapter 40 has been posted!

    Chapter 40

August, 1796 The journey from the Alhambra back to Gibraltar had been as hot and dusty as the trip there. George Granger eyed his second-best uniform with disdain. It was almost impossible to get clothing fully dry once it had been permeated with salt water, and in this case the damp wool had attracted the dust of the road like a magnet. More than anything, Granger yearned for a bath and a clean uniform. They approached the border, and the fort that guarded the entrance to Gi
  5. I love "Californication." Here's one of my pics for the proposal scene: Good Times by the Hoodoo Gurus.
  6. Alright, in all honesty, I didn't put in a wedding march. Oops. If I would have, I probably would have gone with

    Chapter 54

I figured it was time to bring in some new blood, and to launch them with a splash!

    Chapter 54

    Thanks!

    Chapter 59

Thanks! I thought this one was pretty romantic and sentimental.
  10. In Chapter 59, when Robbie proposes and they work out some of the details for their commitment ceremony, there's a part where each of them picks a song that reminds them of the other. The chapter's already written, but I'm interested to see what you guys would have chosen. Which song did/should Brad pick for Robbie? Which song did/should Robbie pick for Brad?
  11. I really liked that one, because I'm a sap too. I thought that was pretty cute, and a nice way to bring closure to the tough times they had. There's an idea.
  12. Done. Comsie is THE sage of this genre. If he and Domluka could have a baby together, that kid would be the ultimate writer for this genre.

    Chapter 59

February 10, 2000 “I can’t believe I’m back here again,” I said to Robbie as I clutched my coat around my freezing body. “If this isn’t a true testament of my love, I don’t know what is.” “The snow is kind of pretty,” Robbie said, as we surveyed the landscape in front of us. Claremont’s city park, known as the Claremont Commons, was one of the few places downtown that hadn’t gone to hell. The snow drifts made the park look slightly hilly, when the ground underneath it was ac
  15. I wear a tie, because I like them, and because you can make a good fashion statement with them. I only wear bow ties with formal dress (dinner jackets). Even then, I usually like kind of goofy ones, you know, just to sort of sneer at the whole formal-attire thing.
  16. Welcome! I'm glad you're here. I haven't decided if I'll use actual Spanish, and if I do, how much I'll use. I think the main issue is getting the chapter edited and posted.
  17. Thanks for all the feedback! It's really interesting!
  18. You want me to end it sooner? I've done something like that a few times (not blowing someone) where I had an ulterior motive while doing a nice thing. Always made me feel a little guilty afterward.

    Chapter 58

February 1, 2000 We were surprised to find quite a crowd at JP’s new house. There were caterers there to set up the food for the guests that should be arriving shortly, along with the guys from Best Buy who were wiring up the massive television that JP had ordered yesterday. The cable guys had been here already; the high profile of their clients evidently prompted them to install the line pretty fast. “Let’s escape and get cleaned up,” I told Robbie. We climbed the stairs to

    Tribute to a Lady

I'm sorry...it's always hard to lose someone you love.
  23. I'm kind of curious where else you all go to read fiction of this genre. There are a few sites I'm pretty familiar with, especially Nifty, Awesomedude, and CRVBOY, but there are always others, always new ones. So if you have a second, post a response and tell me where else you go and what you like or don't like about the sites.
  24. I don't think Jeanine is Italian. (Sometimes I get confused myself). I actually figured her as come from an Irish/Catholic background.
  25. VIv, I think you should be flattered that you made your characters live so well readers want more of them. I think a comment like that might make me go back and consider whether I felt the same way, and whether I wanted to create a sequel or not. I've done one that I hadn't planned on solely because of feedback like that (It was on "Furlough", an anthology story), and I wasn't all that happy with the sequel, but it was fun to write anyway.
