JJ has always been self-absorbed. The problem is that he doesn't seem to see how that is driving away all the people who are important to him.

I really don't think there's a chance in hell that Brad would get custody in a protracted battle, but guardianship can be different than custody. In any event, he'd probably still lose that one. My guess is that this is something of a warning shot Buzz is leaving for his father.

That's a pretty bad sign when Buzz doesn't want his family to be responsible for Dally, but then again, he did let Dally live with them at the Ranch. Kind of a cowardly way to handle things, at least from what we know so far, to leave it to Brad to try and save his son. JJ doesn't seem to realize that he's going to end up very alone if he doesn't get his shit together. -

Thanks so much for the review. I actually think I'm more like Brad than Will, but in any event, I largely ignore unfounded negative feedback.

I'm not following your rationale on the personal growth deal, but that's alright. But I really don't know where you got the idea that Will has been anointed as JP's successor. I think his relationship with JP is actually rather special. JP thrives on helping this brilliant young grandson of his grow up, while Will needs his calm guidance to accomplish that. That they are close and share a deep bond does not mean Will is going to be the next 'Dauphin'. In any event, I think Brad and Claire would have something to say about that, and before they even got to voice an opinion, Stef would certainly assume that he'd inherit that mantle if he outlives JP.

I think that Will, with his temper such that it is, has latched onto JP (and to a lesser degree, Wade) because their cool logic is refreshing, and because they can help him calm down and look at things clearly. I think of it almost like a person who has ADHD and can't or won't get legal drugs to help, so they smoke pot or snort Cocaine to self medicate. In this case, I think Will latches on to JP partly for self-medication.

Will's a lot like his father, so it's not great surprise that he's doing what Brad did. And he idolizes JP, so following in his footsteps makes even more sense.
