  1. or a live streaming blog Nice video and it is a celebration of LGBT marriage. I also understand what JB means, Marriage equality won not due to LGBT community efforts alone and it really was a victory of love over hate; togetherness over division.
  2. Depression: 1. I have not been diagnosed 2. While not diagnosed, I have had periods of unhappiness and low self esteem, especially when I worked in Corporate world. Big paychecks means big pressures 3. I have had a few psychologists and faith counselors, who have been with me during my down periods, like when I had to make tough decisions and do some unhappy things like close down an office in San Francisco for low productivity. I also have childhood issues, which I spent time with counselors concerning bullying due to my physical disability and kids teasing me, plus abandoment issues with my mother as she left my family when I was 8 and she half-assed many times in my life (Once she left me in a locked car in a parking lot and got summoned for child endangerment, which prompted the counseling) 4. Don't know, I have dated a few times, but always expect the other shoe to drop and just anticipate the break-up 5. A brief Alcoholic period, some Marijuana, and that's it for me. Didn't touch Cocaine or anything else. As for Sex, I have fun, but I don't go too far as I don't trust people far enough. 6. Computer and Video games help, writing story and poems vents a bit and if you add in my volunteer work, I basically try to create creative outlets to keep my mind off of certain things in my past and present. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if I do have a slight mild case of depression, especially when I was working at Corporate Accounting Manager. My psychological profile probably would make me prone o a large segment of issues that might not even be Depression due to the abandonment problem and stressful choice in career. I have tried to improve myself by leaving For-Profit world and going into Non-Profit, but I know as long as I am an Accountant, I will still have to face similar pressures as part of my duty. On Suicide 1. Yes, I have thought about suicide 2. Not as often as when I was a teen or when I worked as a Corporate Manager 3. Two times, 1st as a Teen after a bullying episode, where I got beat up from my left side, technically I m blind on my left eye side, so it is where I can be attacked extremely easily. Then, teasing came and I felt completely worthless, so I went home and tried to cut with a razor blade. Didn't work, because I missed my vein and I cut horizontally, not vertically. 2nd time was during my unhappiest time in College, when I was let go from my internship during my senior year and I had no other potential jobs. I also was facing an ugly jobs market back in 2008, so I felt like I had no real road ahead of m, no way to make a living or make a life. Was going to try a mix of sleeping pills, but my roommates came back and settled me down. 4. It sounded cool as a teen, but it really isn't as glamorous as people imagine as a form of suicide. Social Anxiety 1. Eye contact is a major issue as I am blind in one eye and suffer from Congential Glaucoma, so I really can't do that and as a result, I really have to spend more effort to be a friend. I can make friends and I can easily approach people in crowds and functions; I like small conversations or big arguments. From Allegorical storytelling to Zimbabwe currency manipulation, I have a very diverse field of interest and open myself to making friends through it. ------------------------- For me, suicide and Depression are not a social anxiety issue, it is more about self-worth and personal perception issues. I also am disabled and suffer from a chronic illness, so my case is different than yours. As for abandonment and relationship, I can be a friend, but I cannot commit easily to more as fear holds me back, but that's a personal psychological problem developed through childhood Mother-son problems (My old psychologist thinks its more about my fear to replace her with someone else, like I want to wait for her to return). Well that's my neurotic reality.
  3. Well at least that one didn't have Atlantis 1880's view of the Ancient world with the lost Continent from Ignatius Donnelly, Populist US Congressman and amateur Historian (He should have stuck to politics )
  4. We should play a game of Risk some time. Mercator Map version The US is a great example of bad geography and cartography A lot of US maps distort the size of States: Which state is bigger: Wyoming or New Mexico? Arizona or Montana? Alaska or Texas?
  5. That's a cute projection If I am not mistaken that's a Goode one No Seriously, John Goode made that back in 1920's. It's weird, because it breaks up the traditional Cylindrical maps into separate equal portions. Yes I know I am geek for liking Maps, but honestly, when the US is lagging horribly behind on Geography versus other countries, I just want to buck the trend and show people that the way we view our place in the world is not what is the true representation of our place in the world. The US is not as "Big" as some maps portray, nor is Greenland Africa is gigantic
  6. So which map do you prefer of how you view the world? I know it sounds silly, but there are different ways maps can be organized and it affects our judgments on the peoples, nations, and cultures in the world. I think everyone knows the Mercator Map of the World, since we were introduced to geography through this in the US. The Mercator map is what we base our understanding of the world, peoples, nations, and cultures by for more than 500 years. This map however is completely false in terms of geographic and national scaling, Mercator's map minimizes the importance of Africa and over exaggerates Greenland. There are alternate maps like the style that British students might recognize from their primary schools, Gall-Peters Model: I personally prefer this map, which I had in my Magnet school and University:
  7. Just like DVD commentaries, you guys get to hear me talk about the characters and what went into their development. Hunter was the 2nd Character I created for this story (The first character is going to show up in chapter 3). He's my ideal of what the future of LGBT movement will evolve into; he is a cross between Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, and Leonardo Da Vinci. Imagine if one day, a gay teenager invents a massively popular App, then he uses his success and keeps inventing until he becomes a real force in society. I put in him some amazing qualities: Intelligence, a deep sense of Justice and Fairness, and compassion. However, all characters have flaws, or else, they would be too ideal. Hunter's flaws at the start are that he has never known real defeat. His life has been a Gay fairy tale; he met intellectual equal in his Boyfriend Ryan, he has a successful business that is rivaling some of the largest App developers in the country, and he is still young and idealistic. When Ryan commits suicide, he commits himself fully to uncovering the truth and going after whoever had a hand in Ryan's death. He's an avenging angel, or Batman if you like Justice however in the real world is far more complex than he really knows. Other flaws, he's afraid of attachment, but needs friendship and companionship desperately. Without Ryan, he hungers for that missing part of him that he has been accustomed to have. That weakens him a great deal, but it also in the end tuns out to be his greatest strength, because in a war of information, you cannot always know your allies, so trusted friends are desperately needed. Another flaw, he is psychologically still in somewhat precarious place. I always thought Frank Miller did a great job on Batman and his psyche, which Bruce Timm explored and Conway conveyed perfectly in DCAU cartoons as well. A human hero even with all the resources in the world is still human and still under pressure of mental strains. Another lost of someone close to him would throw his entire quest for justice into question. (There's a great Batman TAS episode "I am the Night" that explores this , when Jim gordon is shot and Batman loses hope in the fight for Justice). I am drawing some parallels between him and John Sheridan from Babylon 5, which only James Savvik has seen so I am pretty good bout avoiding generic spoilers (The Vorlons are not nice either James can guess that meaning in the story context if he reads it ) This character is meant to embody the best of us as a community and as human beings; I prefer characters that are self-conscious and knows the weight of the world is on their shoulders.

Prior to the current setup, we had a different story set up, E-Fiction was the predecessor to GA Stories today. Less organization, no tags, and a lot less editing. Basically, think of Fiction Press (Which is where I have a few non-LGBT poems and a rousing story about Ants rebelling against humanity from when I was a teenager ). That's how I think of the point of reference.

I remember that interview, but I think all the oldies remember the fun relationship that he and C James had in their stories, sharing characters and having fun all the way. Guys we might need a historian for GA soon, we've lasted for more than a decade now; there's history from the memorials of our former authors, the big fights that led to the fall of the Old Soapbox, and to the Present day writers and readers.
  10. You are not, I just hope the Master Chief isn't really dead.
  11. I think even the Brits got to admit this looks cool: And for those with political inclinations, there's some interesting "alter" history:

    Chapter 1

Thank you for reading It is a pleasure writing a story that readers enjoy
  13. Wow, thank you Drew. I wanted to give you guys a small treat; a view from the other side. I am so glad you liked it. If a villain is to be treated as an equal, I believe he must be as determined and as capable as a protagonist.
  14. Can't help, but laugh Fozzie jokes about his online profile Fozzie is becoming a breakout character
  15. Well Paradise Lost and Found, if you are the devil, you have to be a true believer first. Then brought down and choose to reign in Hell rather than suffer in Heaven
  16. Good thoughts, Organizing the opposition and making them unique was a fun thing. I want readers to have a clear view of them.
  17. Special Halloween Chapter: The Rising Inferno (John Milton, Chairman of Christian Initiative to Secure Society, Moab, Utah) It is hot as Hell, but I can take it. It took me a decade to build up my online ministry and another decade to realize the “Message” that God had sent me back in 1995. I am not a false prophet like those Televangelist idiots, who steal millions from their flock for no other reason than to enrich their pocket books and gain more influence. No, God pointed
  18. This is awesome, as someone who just did that, I am so glad you are starting to as well. Maybe we can get more people on the band wagon of diversifying reviews across all stories and sites, so we get a good cross-section of the Online story readership.

    Chapter 2

The hard part is about to begin, while defense is something Hunter wants to achieve by pro-active intelligence, there are other forces at work and other points of view. Tune in next week to be introduced to new characters and new issues.

  21. Why do I have this weird feeling we are spamming the Lounge 143 = 11 x 13, it's an odd number formed by 2 unlike prime numbers in their order of succession

    Chapter 2

Thanks, Well, this story will keep going as long as readers like it. I am keeping the chapters short between 2.5K to 3K word length so people can read it easily and without issue.

    Chapter 2

Drew, If I didn't know better, I'd say your in love with this puppy Thanks for reading and yes, they are a piece of work, but there is more to them than meets the eye. I am going to offer a little Halloween surprise for people to view the other side of the argument.
  24. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/w-l/0sand1scbdt To sum everything up into two sentences: Knowledge is power, not just power in the form of magic or a nuclear weapons, it is the power to bring down individuals and nations through revelations. Whether it is an anti-LGBT group or a LGBT defensive team formed by a group of geniuses, in our modern world of integrated technology, knowledge is a weapon that can kill or protect.
