  1. Billy Newt continues to grow and explore the magical world that he lives in. He meets new creatures and have new responsibilities. Continuation of Billy Newt's 13th Birthday
  2. Story: Jason Why do I like this kind of story? In terms of writing, it is grammatically bad, which in the modern world of Gay stories is a death knell for readers (I understand what you must think, if a writer cannot edit, they should not be writing and posting), but in terms of content, it holds a good message with extremely poignant characters that we can all desire to live up to or desire to be. It has weaknesses and hokey plot elements, plus the usual Dickensian problems of the early days of online gay writers. That doesn't make it a bad story or a story that should not be read for people, who truly want to believe in love. Sometimes, readers need to be reminded that a good story is not a story with every punctuation and every word in the exact and proper OCD order that is proper. The imperfections of a young writer shines a light into his best and most unique voice. Of course, editing is a great thing and helps sharpens the writer, but before you can sharpen a story, you must have a block of good ideas in the right mold. The more I read, the less I feel like writers are pushing their imaginations; instead, we're emulating ideas from others. Emulation might show a great deal of respect, but imagination is what makes a great story live. I would challenge everyone to write outside convention and spoil commonly held ideas and ideals. Now let me get into the meat of the review: Plot: Jason is a young gay 13 year old boy, who was kidnapped, raped, and left for dead. The story chronicles his struggle to remember who he was before the events, re-establish his relationships with family, fall in love again with his best friend/boyfriend, and finally facing the harsh realities that he was exposed to. This story resolves in a heartwarming conclusion. Review: I will keep this story review simple, it was a good story, when I first read it as a teen. As an adult, I think the writer could have done more, but I am not reducing his brilliance. I think the story is hokey at times and the ending is perhaps too happy, but in the current state of the world, sometimes people need the happy endings and the campy set ups. I found the character of Jason to be the most rewarding and interesting gay characters to be described and written into fiction. I think the reason for that was that as a reader I had a stake in his development and his recovery of humanity. A common issue with writing that I have and many other writers here and elsewhere share is that we don't give our readers characters with emotional depth that keeps them occupied on that character's development. Jason as a story is flawed, but the character kept it alive for readers and his regrowth is what an audience demands. My review is: 8.5/10 Very good story with noticeable flaws, but I dare a reader to go through it, just to test your emotional endurance.
  3. Well, I don't want to let my readers down; even if the appeal was small and marginal, I will give them one more short story in that universe at the very least. I am not going to commit to a long term unless you guys want me to, since I do have a primary story being launched. For the upcoming launch of Cyber Bullying Defense Team, 8 chapters have finished editing with a Halloween special Kitt is working on the tail portion right now, but that part will not be released until December/January. If I am doing two stories set in two kinds of genre, I will need another editor and beta, but that's if both stories are well received. The 2nd half of Cyber Bullying Defense Team that I promised is also taking shape in my mind for February launch. Depending on how well received the 1st half is, I might extend the 2nd half to 18 chapters instead of 12 chapters. Basically, it would mean chapters up to July. Beyond writing, I am also reading a few old stories from my friends in Timmy's Treehouse I don't write in the CSU anymore, but I do like nostalgia. Also, I rediscovered a great gem of the early 2000's, a story series called Jason; I will probably write a review on it and its Writer, Pyro. It's very special, dark, and in the end I think there's a spark of hope that we can all admire. I read this story first on Nifty..
  4. Happy Belated Birthday Cynus!
  5. Thanks, As a one off story, I was not really anticipating to world build unless I had to. If this were a TV show pitch, it would be a "Backdoor Pilot", sort of like an introduction to elements within a bigger story that could be created as a result. An example of this kind of writing can be sen in TV Series like CW's Arrow and FLash, which basically are making a DC universe by introducing characters and elements that can be turned into a bigger series. As for Grammar, I know the title is off, but when I tried to change it, the link would throw me and everyone else into "no story" land. If I do add more stories, I think I can change this by re-opening the story. Now as for the rest of editing, I have no editor currently on this project. As I was saying in my blog earlier, Kitt is working on my main story Cyber Bullying Defense Team, which already has 12 chapter + 2 specials in editing. She's already being burdened, I don't want to push her too far with another story, so if you feel up to the task of Editor/Beta Reader feel free to pm me at the end of the week if I decide to pursue this story. As for the story of Wine vs. Shots, I want to get audiences drunk quickly, so I can have fun with the readers
  6. Happy Birthday! Hope it is Magical and Fun! :Wizard:
  7. Thanks for the kind words, It's not my genre of writing, but I was just interested in writing something different for Halloween beyond the usual stories of Witches, Werewolves, and Vampires. I don't think that many people will want it to continue, but I am glad you enjoyed it
  8. Thanks for the praise, it's a simple one off as it is not my usual genre of writing. I don't think that many people want to read a story like this though. Most prefer a nice story with magic being happy or at the very least more in line with mainstream Fantasy writers
  9. Well, looks like at least 190 views at the story so far with 4 responses. It's not a big reaction, but it's not a bad one either for a non-genre writer like me. Unless, you guys are dying for another fantasy story, I think this might just be a one time thing. I wanted to at least share some things about the story at least for fun facts: 1. I have read way too many stories about witches, (used to love Charmed too), I feel like there's really no difference in story elements of fantasy. I went backwards and looked back at the old source material, which to my surprise was Norse Mythology and old English. As a gay man, I appreciate great heroic tales of valor, man on man brotherhood/love/betrayal, and some harsh reality mixed in, which the Norse Myths provide in excess. Hoor and Baldur story was glossed over in here, but I really think you guys should look it up. I also mentioned Odin's beloved Raven, Muninn, who travelled the world receiving knowledge along with his brother Huginn. 2. Yes, my main Character Billy is dysfunctional, but he's the American style of Harry Potter If Old Harry were stuck in our foster care system, he'd be offering his ass up without issue Despite what you might have seen on shows like the Fosters, our current system has a lot of jaded kids, who have been passed along from home to home throughout their lives. Some are petty criminals acting out due to society's empty promises of "unconditional love", who eventually get 3 strikes and get sent to Juvie, then become real criminals. I wrote him as the unapologetic Dickensian child of American Society. As for Magic, he unlike Harry or any of the numerous writers on GA, who have wrote in this genre, is not at all enthralled or surprised by it. Too many years of CGI and animation has made "real" magic cheap to him. He'd rather play video games and be a normal kid than ride broomsticks and play quidditch. He has real power to change the world and real leadership focus, but he's too jaded and self-consumed right now due to his past of abuse and neglect from his foster parents prior to Nick and Rick. 3. As for the other characters: Jason- Puppy Dog! I am howling over the moon for him. He definitely has a crush on Billy and I will confirm it, but they've got a complex Boy + Dog/best friend relationship. Billy likes him too, but it's more sexual than romantic at this point. Billy doesn't get the idea of love yet; he never felt it, nor expressed it, so it's hard for him to reciprocate Jason's feelings. Lucky for Jason, he's got dogged determination The problem with this kind of love story, I started hinting at it as I was writing. Jason would willingly sacrifice himself to save Billy from danger. Wolves and Dogs have a deep attachment to their owners/masters/best friends, which can be sacrificial. It's an unrequited love that can be fatal for our favorite pup. Now if you wonder, if I am making fun of Twilight by having him and Ethan, a vampire child in my story, ask yourselves why did I use a character with initials "J" as the werewolf love interest of my main character and "E" as his potential vampire love interest as well As for backstory, Odin's wolves that I reference as his ancestors are none other than Geri and Freki. Read up on your Norse mythology to learn more. There's a long history between the wolves and human beings, along with Warlocks/Wizards. Since Jason is a direct blood descendant, he is a"pure" werewolf, rather than one created by a bite. Ethan- Vampires are overdone and everyone knows it. I wanted to make a new kind of Vampire, one that doesn't meet anyone expectations, who yearns to keep his humanity. Ethan is a vegan vampire Yes, you heard me, I did not want a plain blood sucker. As for his relationship with Billy and Jason, he is best friends with Jason, plus his "betrothed", but he actually has some feelings for Billy as well. Is it platonic, sexual, or romantic? He's still trying to figure this out For inspiration, Comsie deserves credit for Gone from Daylight, but I am writing against normal Vampire lore. Two vampires in my universe can have kids. However, these kids are born innately Vampiric, so they can turn into a Vampire upon consuming any type of human or animal protein, like meat, milk products, or even broth with animal flavoring. These kids have other weaknesses, they are partially narcoleptic, meaning they easily fall asleep in the day time, and unlike regular vampires are susceptible to a wider variety of human illness. As for actual Vampires, in my universe, they have to kill to survive. There is no pig's blood or animal alternative for them. Human blood has to be sucked dry to keep them going everyday, so it's a tragic fate, not one to be wanted by anyone. Some vampires have taken the high road and only go after criminals and evil doers, but most are based creatures resembling the demon that created their race. Rick/Nick/Baxter- Two men and a werewolf go into the Bedroom together wonder what will happen ....Seriously, I like the combination between the 3 mature adult couple. Baxter and Rick's relationship is an allusion to how a Warlock and his best friend/familiar can be lovers eventually on equal pairing to his warlock partner. Yes, I made a Polyamory couple, but it makes perfect sense to me, why fight for one or the other, when you can have both 4. Themes: Curses and Blessings are big in this universe. Warlocks are twice blessed and cursed, Vampires are cursed by demonic ancestors, and Werewolves were blessed by Odin himself. People slide owards curses a lot for Vampires and Werewolves, but I think it is a choice of the character and reality to view it as a curse or a blessing. Werewolves to me seem to be more blessed than cursed, while Vampires are more cursed than blessed. Masculinity- Seriously, yes, witches are part of the Feminine, Mother Earth et al, power source of creation. Why hasn't there been a writer in either mainstream Fantasy or Gay Genre, who wrote about the masculine, Father of Knowledge, aspects of magic power. Using Norse Myth, I have a powerful mythic backdrop of manly guys, who like to fight, drink, and fuck on occasion, while singing songs about all these things. I am not being a Chauvinist, but seriously magical knowledge can go both ways. As for the real life issues, all the kids are becoming teenagers, they are comparing cock sizes and pube patches. It's pretty normal for guys and their best friends as they develop to discuss their growing bodies and there is an underscored theme of male emotionalism as well. Guys can be as understated emotionally as girls if they have serious issues in their head. Well that was my attempt at Fantasy, not sure if anyone else will read it or enjoy it Here's the link again: https://www.gayauthors.org/story/w-l/billysnewt13thbirthday

    Anybody Could

Great story, It reminds me of the episode from the Outer Limits, where a grad student had invented cold fusion and how easy it could work as a weapon of terrorism. Science fiction is only a few steps away from being reality at any given time. While this might not have much character development, it is a short based on thought and ideas, which should be commended.
  11. Here is my Halloween fun story. https://www.gayauthors.org/story/w-l/billysnewt13thbirthday/1 As I said, I do not anticipate writing this into a major series, unless readers really desperately want me to write it out. I am really irreverent in this story to the Fantasy Genre, so if you guys like this be prepared for a different take on Fantasy from a more masculine perspective. As for Norse Mythology being used in this story, I freely admit it, I love the concept of old Norse Tales. I recounted the Tale of Baldur or Baldr, the invulnerable God, who was killed by a Mistletoe. Seriously, the thing that inspires people to kiss is actually deadly in Norse Mythology. I also like the description that a translation of Warlock is actually derived from "Traitors" and "Loki", to create the word in old English "Traitors with Loki". I also incorporated the development of Wizards into my world as a later creation, I am not sure if Myth history guys will like it, but I like the linguistics. Anyway, feel free to hate it or love it
  12. Billy Newt’s 13th Birthday By WL The universe is a joke wrapped in a field of deadly radiation, dead worlds, and the occasional intelligent life that knows how to stay clear of all the crap that can kill you. I look at my life as a joke really; an unwanted troubled preteen going into his teenage years with a litany of small crimes like theft and vandalism, plus a history of sexual abuse. I’ve moved from home to home throughout my life without a place that I can
  13. "Billy is a 13 year old in the foster care system, who has had a rough childhood of abuse and neglect due to bad foster homes. Upon reaching 13, he learns that he is in fact a powerful Warlock and his best friends, Ethan and Jason, have been hiding their own magical secrets from him.
  14. Spider Gates Cemetery: Leicester, MA 8 ways in, no way out Supposedly at night, there are 8 gates of hell that will send wanderers into death and eternal torment Really cool amateur youtube on this Cemetary
  15. You know I realized despite how long this area has been open or how long we have posted images of our favorite athletes, we never share some of our favorite (Non-Pornographic) pictures of some of our favorite athletes from all sports. While we all may enjoy American Football, Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Baseball, Wrestling, Swimming, and other sports, let's be honest, there are a few players who have extremely sexy bodies that we cannot take our eyes off of. So let me start, everyone can post Athlete that is peaking your interest right now in terms of sexiness: Meyers Leonard He is so delicious and he's one of the NBA's best centers currently.
  16. Well, this song is now stuck in my head:
  17. Happy Birthday Rustie For the man who has a love of changing his legs, I offer you this:
  18. Nope, it's still very normal, since you are a parent, who's trying to impart some nice life lessons to a child As a bit of fair warning, I watched way too much TV as a kid from cartoons, Anime, Soaps at Night, Retro shows (Nick at Night used to do Happy Days and Brady Bunch along with others from your generation), Sci-Fi, Drama, and even a few Lifetime movies (Yes, but I will freely admit that I cannot be made into a weepy girl by that genre anymore despite how many things Nicholas Sparks has come out with due to my TV education). Unless you want your son to turn into me, get him to do more non-TV stuff too As for current episodes of Girl Meets World, they are pushing some interesting issues that seem more geared towards teens and parents than preteen crowd that usually watches Disney. Autism, Environmentalism, Adult Love lives, and cyber Bullying (I am not complaining on that last point as I am writing myself into that genre) are all being discussed. It doesn't feel like a Disney thing to do, but it is perfect for ABC, who could revive its TGIF line up. PS: Since many of my childhood (Technically some were adult and Young adult with PG 13/MA ratings) shows are coming back for this generation, I think they might try to re-introducing Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but instead redo it with a new character, maybe her and Harvey's daughter/son ( Yes I will spoil it, they ran off together in the last episode). Can you imagine that, plus Melissa Jone Hart needs a job.

    X-File Is Back

Wasn't on my radar, but I was more focused on the fall schedule checking what was coming on and when. So far, nothing bad on TV, just nothing jaw dropping (Heroes got revived, but "meh", it needs some more time to get rolling again) As for CGB Spender (William Davis), it will make this an interesting revival; much better than the last movie 7 years ago. Plus, we can learn what happened to them after they ran off together. Fox became a real Network with this show 20 years ago; it was the first massive hit that they ever got before American Idol, The OC, Prison Break, or any other show. Anyone want to speculate on the fates of the characters after the show? A.D Skinner survived at least, he was a nice character.
  20. Damn it, why did I check my emails before I was heading to bed? Didn't even know this had been green lit by Fox, but it makes sense. Anyway, I don't want this to get too political; though, for a show that's centered around a Global Government Conspiracy that taught an entire generation of viewers to question everything and believe that Government is watching/listening/plotting against us, it's hard not to point to why its poignancy is back in vogue. For the Queerlings, this show is a throwback to the 1990's, so it's an old dated story that was free on Amazon and Hulu (at one point and probably no longer), which made it less cool and interesting to watch due to how ancient the tech seems. For older viewers, you guys were demanding it to come back for years and now your prayers have been answered (but by whom? ). As for me, it was sort of my guilty pleasure as a kid; I watched it at 9 PM at night, when it aired in the 90's (Yes, I was watching adult TV shows as a 9 year old when I was also watching Rocko's Modern Life and Power Rangers Lost Galaxy), I liked X-Files and despite not understanding the complex conspiracy stories or the history, it was atmospheric and interesting. For a =period, I got really into Ufology (study of UFO's) due to the show and other paranormal activity. The Truth is still out there...... https://youtu.be/_1SmJUBT5q0
  21. Third times the charm right It's a horrible trope; they were such a nice couple and the viking funeral was an awesome touch. I just checked the casting, sadly this is the first season that Josh Rosza, our only LGBT character in The Originals will not be part of the cast at the start of a season So, there's no urgency for his character to be developed and I fear they might just kill him off-screen (logical, after all the shit he's been through on top of losing his boyfriend, I'd say get into the sunlight and let nature happen ) I want him to have a happy ending, or a spin off show on here! or Logo (Those guys need to just bite the bullet and take one of our stories, turn it into a TV show, what is the point of having a gay channel if there is no original programming?)
  22. First off, yes, I do have some interests in Vampire/Fantasy fiction too , which includes The Originals, the spin off series of the Vampire Diaries. However, I am not a fan of its predecessor series. I like my fantasy fiction to have more over-arcs and competing power issues. Too much soap opera is boring to me, which is one reason why I cannot really get into Game of Thrones on a consistent basis. Some Soap is good, too much is overload. Now onto the the main event on which I created this thread: Aiden's funeral Why did they have to ruin the only Gay Vampire/Werewolf relationship on cable TV? Like Josh said, "It's a Romeo and Romeo situation", seriously, the story writes itself at least for any gay author on this site. I feel so bad for Josh, their relationship was so pure and true. I hope I am the not the only gay guy that watches the show for this element of the storyline, but whatever, I just want to put this out there, if I am the only one grieving, it's fine :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( :,( Well, I know the new season is coming up soon, so I wanted to get that piece of plotting off my chest
  23. Well, like the title says, I want to play this spooky holiday with a fun short story idea I have dreamed up. It involves a magical world of Warlocks, Vampires, and Werewolves Since Cyber Bullying Defense Team is in post production for the 1st half of the story with a publication date of 10/23/2015, I've got some time to write something short and fun. Here's the tag line: I know what people might say: WL, what the fuck are you doing? This isn't your kind of story, why are you even entering Fantasy, when you are a Science Fiction and Tech guy? I know it's different, but even I want to have some fun. Besides, it's only a short story (If you guys demand continuation, there better be 100 petitioners at least )
  24. What if writers release their story Outlines for how it might have gone if they had continued writing? I know I had drawn up a very intensive outline for Exodus with tie in stories that never got written and a Bible on how everything began from the first spark of life in the universe to end/transformation of mankind and a few other stories had similar outlines, maybe other writers had done the same? That way you guys will have an idea of where it might have gotten if we hadn't been hit by real life or other problems, and give you a sense of closure. I think what Parker, you are asking for is closure, which can either be offered by writers' in this form of a short closing outline or by continuing the story yourselves under a new stewardship. In the area of changing hands of authors, Krista and I have a different opinion on the idea of stewards for our stories; I understand the attachment of a story and its author, but I know from personal experience that some of my stories need a lot of care to create and craft, stuff that I don't know if I have the ability to write without inspiration. In mainstream fiction, you can take the examples of Stargate franchise, the movie producers, Roland Emmerich (I personally hate this guy due to how badly he handled the LGBT movie Stonewall, which I will review at a later point in my blog, since I don't want to jump on the bandwagon of other critics), hate the TV series interpretation of his mildly successful movie, while the TV series producers, Brad Wright (Loved him for his work on the Outer Limits series in the 90's) thought the movie producers were just too obtuse about where their storyline could go and wanted to expand the canvas. It really is based on taste and opinions, I am bias towards certain viewpoints and certain interpretations, but it does not mean I think it's not as legitimate as another viewpoint for stories. That's the heart of my argument, let the readers choose their own interpretations and if they want to create another interpretation that is different than my own, it is their own imagination inspired by another.
  25. Dogs provide great body heat and a living fur coat Only 11 people is kind of small in terms of story potential and polling. I guess this will have to be a private affair again and hope that enough people will enter it when I post the thread up later in October.
