Unconventional Valentines story, I love the premise and its interesting parallels between Adam's stance of being a soldier and Casey's of being a spy. It's a story filled with homages to classic Noir themes from Casablanca to Maltese Falcon.

I love this story, it is heartfelt and make me cry happy tears of nostalgia and hope. This story deserves praise for its great detailed perspective of elder memory loss and its effect on family I also love the aspect of Jager, it was very "Citizen Kane" - esque. Great job!

A story of heavenly love and bureaucracy Nice job on creating a good impression and a fun fantasy
  4. "As Ashi walks to his cafe, he is ambushed by a sadistic writer with a giant eraser, threatening to erase him starting with his boy parts " Maybe just writing it will help me unleash my pent up need to right the wrongs done to a character
  5. I understand what you mean and even agree with you on some levels, but it's difficult to not feel attached to a character as a reader. I guess its a sign of being a good writer, when you can elicit this type of reaction.
  6. I could always recant on my death bed I guess to me, it's like watching a parent abandon their child on the street of the Internet. Since I am a writer and a reader, I want to help him out, but the rules would not allow me and would rather let this child wither and die out on the streets. The argument, when you get down to an anthropological perspective is a stance that few people would allow if this were a "human" child, but an idea is far less deserving and far less human; even if it was man made.
  7. It's a taboo among writers, which I understand. We respect one another ability and respect our works mutually Still, recently, I came upon a story that I was so angry at and so desperately desiring to change the fate of its protagonist that I wanted to ask the author if he would allow me to do a sequel based on his work, which has been in limbo for years. I haven't done it, because part of me doesn't want to desecrate the author's work, but on another level I don't like seeing a character beaten, tortured, enslaved, and completely lost his humanity without either a chance to seek vengeance or a death to end his pain. As a writer, I am a God of my own fictional universes, many of which I have also half finished or half conceived. I know I shouldn't care what another writer does as I am no saint with my stories either, but part of me wanted to do more. I wanted to offer a character I felt attachment to have a better life than the one he's been offered by his author's absentee relationship. Am I the only writer with these kinds of thoughts? Is fan fiction of a fictional story ever justifiable? I don't know. We've debated this before and I can understand why we shouldn't take over another writer's work, but is it respect or is it presumption? I believe if there are no rules in existence right now, there should be allowances that allow people to finish the work of writers long past writing or have stopped for personal reasons after years of limbo. The Renaissance began with an unfinished cathedral in Florence, which needed a new architect with fresh ideas from the brilliant minds of Cosimo de Medici and Filippo Brunelleschi. Without their help, the largest dome of the time would never have been built, nor would a study of the classics have created new thoughts for future generations. I am not a genius at this, but I also know there needs to be more open minds to create great stories and greater explorations of fiction than what we have done so far. A copyright is only an idea, if a writer forgets the idea, what right is left to stop new writers from finishing his work?

Great story of Secret Admirer in an office setting. I can so relate to Fred's predicament as I've had to deal with breakups on my own and I lost my dog about a year ago. Work helps to make you forget your troubles, but it doesn't solve the underlying loneliness. I really hope Fred will have a good future with his new romantic prospect.
  9. Lol, You are more than just stuff, my fellow canine avatar
  10. I shall revive this thread for one reason: While looking up LGBT character in Star Wars canon for inspiration (I do weird research for a variety of my stories), I came across this: George Lucas reveals C3P0 was gay So that means R2-D2 is C3P0's Boyfriend or botfriend

Love is a battlefield worse than the trenches of France, worse than the jungles of Vietnam, and worse than the barren deserts of Iraq. Many men will go into the field, but only a few will be lucky enough to find glory or fame. The rest will live with scars both visible and unseen. These scars will re-open without warning at any time, creating misery in its wake. A man will do anything for a pretty face and a hot body. Look at me; I was a good looking twentysomething gay man with a flourishing n

  13. 4 Shows in 2016 will be about Time Travel, mostly comedies, but two action dramas. http://www.ew.com/article/2016/01/21/time-travel-shows This has happened before and will continue to happen again Seriously, Time travel dramas have seen ebbs and peaks in the last 40 years with how science and science fiction has reacted to the idea. For those, who like the science watch this: https://youtu.be/eavROfq-ouo

  14. I know what you mean about changing styles. My earlier stories, especially unfinished stories were far too detailed. My more recent stories are shorter and far more pointed. As for POV, I prefer 2 shifts per chapter at most, it gives me some flexibility to think from other angles, but also limit scope. Time is another thing, with Book 2 of 0's and 1's, I am playing with the aspect of Multi-temporal POV, which I am trying to be very careful with as I am noticing detail creep.
  15. One of the most played Wedding Songs ever, but damn I love this song: "I'll be the greatest fan of your life", to whoever I finally end up loving
  16. That's really touching and sort of morbid to know your dad is speaking to you from beyond the grave after you lose your virginity or figure out you are gay. It reminds me of Mitch Albom's books like Tuesday with Morrie or For One More Day

  18. Okay, just because it's different and it blurs a lot of lines between art, film, and porn. I am going to throw RoadStrip out there for people to think about. In terms of humor, sexual/emotional tension, and cinematography, which was top notch by the way, this movie deserves a mention for a gay man's must see list. Yes, it is basically a gay porn with a plot that works, but there are so many crappy art house movies out there that don't give you half the amount of acting or plot developments that this movie does. Also, in case GA Mods think I am promoting pornography, a shortened version was featured in Qfest in front of general LGBT audiences. This is the meta version of gay porn, which has some merit as a mainstream movie and made Jake Bass and Max Ryder Gay Icons in the US along with an earlier pornographic/faux reality show movie (that is just well done gay porn, so I won't mention it by name, but you guys know which one ) .
  19. Drew, if they find a tenth planet, you need to rename yourself Pluto It would be cool if we can add another big planet to our solar system. It's probably too far out to have any type of life or even potential colonization value, but I'd love getting naming rights. Being so cold and dark, I'd call it Hecate, just to follow the Greek/Roman theme.
  20. Feel free to steal this if you want, I just got an interesting idea for a story set during World War II in a German Concentration Camp for gays. Basically, what if the idea of Stockholm syndrome is played out both physically as a captive/captor relationship and psychologically in reverse, where the captor identifies with the captive as he himself is captive under his own regimented world, i.e. a guard at one of these camps? The captive can leave his confinement if he accepts a heterosexual mandated life, but he resists. The resistance weakens over the course of the story. The guard having homosexual feelings as well could accept his desires, but he does not want to join the captive. His desire grows ever greater. In this story, I wouldn't glorify abuse and atrocity, but expose it and the frame of mind that allows social pressure to justify repression and oppression. Just a crazy idea from this writer, I don't really have time to write that in addition to my Valentines story entry and Book 2.
  21. Cia has a really good point, such relationships would be problems for our guideline rules, not to mention the idea of kidnapping or holding someone against their will is illegal. An approach for this kind of story is to set it in the pre-modern world, Roman/Greek/Middle Eastern/Chinese/other civilizations had done that with raids against native peoples by kidnapping them, then enslaving them under cultural practices at the time. Historical fiction would make such relationships feasible. Of course, science fiction and fantasy genres can do the same as mainstream authors from Frank Herbert to Tolkien have done it for heterosexual couples. It's just a part of greater narrative stories though, not merely a focus of their main story.
  22. I know we have bondage and BDSM writers, but kidnapper/victim genre you are asking for is not one I've seen on GA in recent times. You might need to do a search of "stories" under "advance search" ---->"tags" ------> "BDSM" The list are not long, so the subgenre you may want is limited to a narrow margin of authors. What type of story setting are you looking for specifically, modern or ancient/ Western World or Middle Eastern or Asian or African/ Fiction or Science Fiction or Fantasy Some writer may include elements of that kind of relationship, but it is usually part of bigger narratives.
  23. Just want to promote the LGBT answer to interstellar, I heard about this film's inception from Indiegogo and its really interesting: I think Brits might be onto something: with Credence
  24. Happy Belated Birthday!
  25. It probably would make an awesome story; oil rig workers made huge paydays during the peak of the oil boom in the cold icy waters of the north sea. Space is infinitely colder and more distant with infinitely more mineral wealth. "Blue Lagoon" meets "Cast Away" meets "There shall be Blood" that's just my premise, I bet other writers will use different formulas for the same settings.
