I was recently reading an article on Buzzfeed that got me thinking about what I can do to help other people just barbecue. http://www.buzzfeed.com/daves4/the-world-isnt-such-a-bad-place There are so many different situations that make it clear and known that even the smallest thing has the biggest impact on people, especially those who really need it. I know for a fact that for awhile I was suffering from a PTSD flashback on my way to work where I was really freaking out at Suburban Station in Philly where one of the Philly Police came to me, asked if I was alright and I guess the look in my face told him all he needed to know. He took me to one of the quite places in the station and let me sit down, got me a cup of water and just started talking about random things to get my mind out of the fixation I was in. When I was doing okay he took the time to walk me to my building at Two Liberty Place and made sure that I was okay before going to work. That will always stick with me and I really wish I could remember his name and just give my thanks. I did write a letter to Philly Police dept complimenting them on the amazing care that there staff exude to customers and passengers. Later that day there was a homeless kid who looked hungry and scared so I took him out for dinner at IHOP and let him get whatever he wanted and at the same time I gave him the numbers that I knew of that helped him. I didn't pump him for information but just chatted with him because I remembered what that Philly cop did for me and I wanted to pay it forward. Since then I always look for a way to help someone as best I can and was wondering if something like this has happened to you. It doesn't have to be a personal story but something that you've seen and want to share. I just think that we all need a breath of fresh air to show that in this chaotic world there are always something amazing that is going on.

Comcast To Build 1,121 Foot Tower in Phildelphia
Phantom replied to methodwriter85's topic in The Lounge
I may be biased a little bit but I love Two Liberty place only because it has two of my favorite places in it. One is a the location where I work in the city and the other is a restaurant called R2L which has not only some pretty good food but has a breath taking view of the city with windows looking out all over the place. My plan is that when I go on a first date with someone it will be there because it's such a memorable experience. On the subject of another comcast tower in the city I have mixed feelings. As much as I love an ever changing skyline, I don't want it to become a skyline of that like New York City because then, in my personal opinion, it'll start to loose it mystique and general feel of what it is to be a Phillyite. Just so you know it was intentionally built to be imposing with the Gothic architecture. Also if you pass through the building there is a hole in there that allows you to see the corner stone of the building. -
Just be warned that most places he has visited tend to explode at one point or another... or are marked by some treacherous cliffs...

Awesome as always CJ... I really love the flow of everything and how true to peoples feelings you are as reflected by the Chase and Eric interactons post Brendan-Gate. I'd also like to point out that your authors note is a bit off... I think yoummean the east coast not the west coast unless Hawaii is falling into the ocean...

What band do you think of when reading LTMP and CL?
Phantom replied to Phantom's topic in C James Fan Club's Topics
Its all good haha... music is a lot like politics in a way... no one agrees lol... I do like the thought of Linkin Park... how it went from Hybrid Theroy to Meteora... hard rock to a more mellow rock... -
I'm not sure if this was a topic at one point so if it's a duplicate I'm sorry... I was wondering what band comes to mind when reading Let the Music Play and Changing Lanes? The question came to mind when I was rereading LTMP and Panic! At The Disco came on and it seemed to fit Instinct. I'm not saying the band members are exactly alike but the sound and style I think fits pretty well. Honestly I can see Brandon Urie being Brandon Wolfe... course that might be wishful thinking

Yea they are... it's a very mellow beat and makes it easy to fade into the background and not be overwhelming...

Thats right because goats are never near cliffs... though some can be found near mountains....

When I started listening to Welcome To Nightvale I fell in love with the music and went and downloaded the band's albums. However I learned a valuable lesson... When listening to the music don't be half asleep on a train because it looks like the hooded figures from the dog park are right outside the window...

In a way I wish M$ would release windows XP source code so that support could continue in a community driven way since a majority of people still use it but what can you do. I'll stick to my Windows 7 and upgrade to Windows 8 only if I absolutely have to. *Edit to add* I also forgot to mention that the Migration from XP to Win7 at my job has not been fun at all...

Ironic that you came back yesterday and I came back today

First of all, I had to stop the video because I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. Here's an elderly woman working when she should be out enjoying her golden years being taunted by kids and having it filmed. Seeing this I want to find this woman, bake her a gazillion cookies and pies and just hug her and tell her that not all kids are sickening like these monstrous brats were. My job, I deal with trauma and crisis management in children but I can tell you, this affects everyone no matter how young, old, gay, straight, transgendered, geek, jock, male, female or hell, just about anything and everything under the sun. I can't tell you how many times I've had to counsel a kid who was in crisis that tried to take their own life because of the constant bullying that they experienced. Sadly this video is only the tip of a huge iceberg of issues that affect our senior citizens and we should do something to help show them the respect they've earned and deserved. In fact, I'm going to make it a point the next time I see my neighbor to have her over for coffee and do something nice for her!

Do you care if video games are ever recognized as art?
Phantom replied to Cyhort's topic in The Lounge
I agree with Sympathia in that video games are art. I see it this way, a video game is really an interactive story with moving pictures and original scores of music to accompany it. To me, we consider all of those to be art so why not consider a video game to be art as well? -
Well, I have to say that I'm not one to really follow my star sign, but from people have told me and I've read, I'm what's called a baby gemini. I'm more fluid with things whether thinking or working, I'm hyper at times and contemplative at others but still can multitask like a mother. All in all though people always say I'm a Gemini because of how quickly my mood can change.

Well it's nice to see new faces here on GA and after taking time away for a multitude of reasons, I gotta say I'm looking foreword to re-connecting with people. I've taken some time to write, take pictures and get centered and healthy again. A couple of trips to the ER, a new chronic but manageable diagnosis, work being crazy and volunteering with LGBT youth tends to make life extremely crazy. Today, I had a seizure which is something that hasn't happened to me in God knows how long and it kinda reminded me to slow down and reevaluate myself. After meditating on this I realized how this helped put things back into perspective with what was and wasn't important to me and for some reason, it made me think of GA and how I've been missing this community of weird, exciting, funny, snarky, bitchy, evil and angelic group of people. Well time to fly because well, I feel re-encouraged to write again! Eric

Well, let's see.... Personally I stick with my Xbox as my primary gaming system, Mac/PC comes in second (this is due to Diablo III and Starcraft II) with my iPhone/iPad in third (though I should rank this as second because of my addiction to zombie farm lol). Personally I love my Xbox and Kinect mainly because it helped me with physical therapy the past few months and well, Kinect Adventures kicks major butt! Eric

Troy is a friend of mine that bartends near me. We got to know each other over time by trading stories and having some drinks on his off shifts. The one story that I will never forget is the one where he ended up becoming a lesson not only to myself, but to any gay man at a bar who think’s someone is to good to be true. “I was working one night and had this guy coming on to me my entire shift,” Troy was telling me as we sat at one of the tables in the pub. “He would flirt with me, leave me nic

I met Michael one time when I was doing a stint at a private party where I was doing the outside bar. What this means is I was doing the bar where all the smokers were and a bit chilly as well since this was the fall. Everyone was sitting at the chairs and tables but some were sitting at my bar. Michael was ordering his drink and seemed a little down so I asked him what was going on knowing I would probably be in for a long conversation. I made sure that I asked him when I hit a lull in the traf

It's said that the oldest profession in the world is prostitution, but these stories aren't about that. These stories involve the world's second oldest profession, being a bartender. Bartenders have been around for as long as mankind have learned how to make booze. In my opinion however, they've also been known as counselors, a shoulder to cry on and on rare occasions, wise men. If you've been a bartender long enough, you start to realize that you've heard it all. Stories of one night stands, e

Okay so I'm getting back into the whole working out/running and gym thing but most of my music isn't cutting it and honestly the music I've found for cardio workouts suck eggs on iTunes... Anyone have any advice on how to get a decent playlist or album to recommend for cardio workouts? Eric
