  1. I've been listening to a lot of Viotti recently. Here is a charming example; the finale to his 26th (!!!) violin concerto. Hope it brings a smile

The Costa have been unusually quiet… are they nesting? Crows and Ravens are very noisy birds. Even their very blue relatives, the Stellar's and Scrub Jays have very loud calls! ;–)
  5. This might be the only piece of blowhard Braytoven I ever post, but perhaps all of his egotistical works should be performed on guitar

I’m surprised she’s going by “Mrs Sarah Thompson.” Isn’t Thompson her maiden name? Shouldn’t she be “Ms” or “Miss” – or did she marry someone with the same last name (I think it’s one of the three most common last names in the US)? Or did she get married, but retain her own name? ;–) Oops! Her father and brother are Taylors.

I look forward to a day when we can all return to family (or family) gatherings again. I hope we are not going to be facing another wave of infections in late November and December. But history suggests that it’s very likely to happen just like it did in 1919-1920. It won’t be just four or five major retailers going out of business, it’ll be every retailer which can’t figure out a way to compete with Amazon and eBay. ;–) We’ve seen how Amazon killed bookstore chains, how Toys ‘R Us killed toy stores and then in turn got killed by Amazon, how Walmart killed downtown businesses, and how Federated bought up most of the department store chains in the US and turned them into Macy’s and Bloomingdales before teetering on the brink of bankruptcy itself. We’ve seen the comically stupid combinations of Sears/Kmart and AOL/Yahoo! The pairing of two nearly moribund brands won’t solve any problems and will only prolong the suffering of the employees. We’ve seen how the news industry is slowly collapsing and failing in its primary task of providing accurate, factual information. We’ve seen the consolidation of industries like high tech, automobiles, entertainment, internet providers, medical, pharmaceutical, farming, and banking. When things begin to return to ‘normal,’ we will have even fewer choices available to us.

Hey Wayne, are you getting sentimental in your ‘old’ age? It looks like you’re pairing up Huck and Aunt Carrie. At this rate, you’ll need a couple more sequels to pair up all of the Raven Kids as well. ;–)

It’s difficult when you believe that you don’t deserve to be loved. I suffer from a bit of that. I hope I’m not as bad as Harlan though… ;–)

I hope your grandmother was always happy to see you and that you love seeing your grandmother! Grandparents sometimes miss out when their irresponsible children cause a separation from their grandchildren. Of course, sometimes the parents learn from the grandparents and the grandchildren are better off without that side of the family. I was lucky that my grandmothers both enjoyed seeing us, but we couldn’t really communicate because they didn’t speak much English. My grandmothers both lived halfway across the country from us, but were friends so they’d fly out together to see their California grandchildren (my brothers, my cousins on both sides of the family, and me). My grandfathers both died when I was young and I don’t remember either of them. If I ever get back to Chicago, I can go to the cemetery where they’re all buried (the plots are supposed to be near each other). ;–)

I think you need to do some more processing! ;–) My older brother was only 6½ hours late with his email because he’d been BCC’d when my younger brother sent a greeting the evening of my latest birthday. I’m not sure why he didn’t bother to disguise that fact from me. In my sixties and my family is still dysfunctional. ;–)

  16. Kmart ad from April 1970: Blue Light Special! We found pallets of 8-track tapes, 8-track tape players, speakers, and reverb units in our warehouse. Buy yours now before they sell out. Why wait? We’ll be filing for bankruptcy any day now…

I was trying to get that across, but as I typed, I forgot what I had initially intended. Thank you for emphasizing that point. The flip side is that kids don’t want to wrap their heads around the idea that their parents are sexual beings either! ;–)

Huck is struggling with the concept of his son being a sexual being. That’s a major issue for parents coming to terms with an LGBTQ+ child. The fear of HIV/AIDS is closely tied with that. There is a not-quite realistic fear that Gays are at a much higher risk than a straight person with similar sexual experiences.

It’s amusing, but telling that Harlan is uncomfortable being the little spoon! In his mind, the big spoon is the dominant position. It’s clear that Harlan is definitely not versatile or a bottom. Harlan would be uncomfortable not being in control. Some tops don’t realize just how much control a bottom has. ;–)
  21. N’than could be like Lt Ilia (from Delta IV) from incredibly pompous, ponderous, and overblown Star Trek: The Motion Picture (which shockingly did not kill the franchise) – Deltans supposedly caused embarrassing erections among the human male crew members they were near. It could be a sexual thing that cause people to either want to protect N'than or covet him. I think those two reactions/responses to N'than could be flip-sides of each other. ;–)
  22. Does N’than put out some sort of psych wavelength that causes others to either help him or do evil things to him? ;–)
  23. Complete stories can have sequels. That’s why they’d need to be prompt stories – unless you want to try @Timothy M.’s format… ;–)
  24. I hope they’ve been documenting the abuse that Tyler has been suffering because of his father. A few police reports, pictures of the bruises, etc. Proof of a pattern would make the resolution faster and assure that Tyler doesn’t suffer any additional consequences from this tragedy.
  25. So, do we have to wait until you find the right prompt before we get to read more about Tyler and Logan? ;–)
