    Chapter 2

A REAL mage would know that replacing the PRAM battery (primarily intended to maintain the clock settings) and reformatting the hard drive, and reinstalling the System software and applications are probably the only things necessary to get an old Power Mac to run again. In many cases, the PRAM battery is the only problem. Just remember that the System software can only be upgraded so far. Newer applications probably won’t run on an ancient computer. Apple allows free downloads of selected versions of System software for older computers. There are also non-authorized sources of other legacy System software versions. Because I worked at an Apple-authorized retailer/repair, I have many pre-OS X/MacOS System software discs. There’s less physical clutter involved if you run old software on a new computer running an emulator. Some of those old games are still compelling! ;–)

    Chapter 4

I didn’t know I had the magic ability to reverse their declining subscription rates to make it a profitable business unit! Print publications of all sorts are going out of business. McClatchy just filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. The only magazine I’m currently subscribing to has just announced it’s ended print publication and switching to an electronic newsletter format in the future. ;–)

Are you referring to my ancient Power Mac or old PowerBook computers? Or the fact that with just a flip of a switch, I can cause light to suddenly appear in a lamp? ;–)

Is George going to produce an album for Christopher Atkins as a follow up to How Can I Live Without Her (#71 on the Billboard Hot 100) from the Razzie Award winning, The Pirate Movie?

    Chapter 4

The Monolith was one of the Jonathan Ivey prototypes for the ultimate iPhone that was rejected for being too minimalist. Users hated the sharp edges and its enormous size made it unwieldy and impossible to carry. No one could figure out how to answer when it rang. But the resolution on its screen was unbelievable! ;–) Microsoft is currently trying to duplicate the design as we speak, now that it’s been mentioned in public. Oops! It’ll be called the Surface Phone. The second generation version will shrink down to a size and price accessible to schools and homeless people.

    Chapter 1

My clinical depression and generalized anxiety mean I stay in my apartment almost all the time. I do take the bus or BART when I go grocery shopping or to the library (to worry DVDs). I usually go to the main library in another Berkeley (about a hour away by bus or maybe a third that time by BART) even though there’s a small library about a block away from my apartment – it has about five or six times the selection. ;–)
  11. Thank you! That’s exactly the way I was asking you to tell us. No details. ;–)

How sad that George’s son, Phillip, apparently drown and his body was never recovered. Along the Pacific Coast, we know the currents will usually carry things further south. But there was a woman who was buried when a sandy cliff along the shore collapsed on her late in the afternoon. Even though they tried digging through the sand, they never found her body and have presumed that it washed away when the tide came in overnight before they could complete their digging. They found her body a month later, buried in the sand approximately where she had been when the cliff collapsed. They are planning a one year memorial this weekend.

    Chapter 4

I’m not looking for a doppelgänger. I’m not looking for someone who resembles me either physically or psychologically! I’m looking for someone who’s kind of an opposite: blond or redheaded vs my black hair, blue-eyes vs my boring brown ones, thin and tall vs no-longer-thin and short, outgoing vs shy with generalized anxiety, etc. Intelligent is mandatory, independently wealthy and generous would be nice, and enjoys cleaning up after me would be a bonus… ;–)
  18. A short, quick (by @Geron Kees’s standards) tale. This time we meet some really alien aliens. Geron’s imagination has come up with yet another fascinating adventure for the ragtag team of friends. ;–) And, of course, they all end up becoming the newest members of the gang!

  23. It just feels creepy to me (being about four times Nate’s age) to read about children having sex.

    Chapter 2

Things are more interesting when the kids have the benefit of their elders' wisdom and stability along with them for the ride.
  25. I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I don’t want to read about Nate having sex. If you feel it has to happen, we can all just leave the room and close the door. behind us They can tell us that it happened (no details, please), after the fact.
