I'm earning a paralegal certificate. During an opening chapter of my first textbook they warned us our attorneys may have drinking, drug, or gambling problems to deal with the stress. Luckily you have CAP instead!

In the early 00's MTV had a reality show called Rich Girls. Tommy Hilfiger's daughter was on the show, and she was trying to make herself a burrito but gave up and called delivery. LOL I did kind of think that you were positioning Will as the more down to earth, "can hang with the common people" brother as opposed to stuck up ice prince JJ, but they haven't been as diametrically opposed as I thought they would be. I totally thought you'd have Will go on some kind of backpacking around Europe kind of adventure for his Gap Year and we didn't see him do anything like that at all.

Yeah, it took a lot, but it finally got there. Anyway.., Chapter 45 -When Jeremy realizes just how much he fucked up. "Trouble" by Coldplay I swear to god this song was everyone on t.v. at some point to denote a sad moment. LOL

I meant that Will at 18 is going to be Will at 25, 30, etc etc. I can't see him changing much. Jeremy's still got a LOT of growing up to do. No, he can't. I was on Prozac when I was 22 and some military recruiter guy backed away when I said that. Honestly, if you wanted any quicker way to get those military recruiter guys to back off, that would be it. LOL I don't know if it's still the same way anymore but you would see aggressive military recruiting all the time back then, especially because they'd try and call you off a list from the Selective Service draft you had to sign up for when you turned 18. The nicest part about turning 25 is that I stopped getting bugged about it. As my mentor Lee once said to me, "Jeremy, I really just cannot ever see you in the military." LOL

I see it as Jeremy will never not be a bitch, but he'll get better at keeping his bitchy thoughts to himself if he wants people to be willing to spend any time with him. Also Mark is just allowing Jeremy to mature a bit after so many years of arrested development. Will is pretty much who Will is, but Jeremy's got so much to catch up on in terms of social development. That's why I loved the scene of Jeremy sneaking into the bar. Normal teenagers do that kind of shit all the time, but Jeremy missed out on that kind of thing.

I had a track teammate like that. He was 17 and had a full-blown beard that made him look 35. Now that he's 40, he still looks 35, go figure.

Chapter 43 -When Will reads Jeremy's letter to him. "For Good" from "Wicked" Will and Jeremy's dynamic is so Glinda (Will) and Elphaba (Jeremy.) I can also see them as being like Blair (Jeremy) and Serena (Will) from Gossip Girl.

Chapter 42 -When Alex storms out and JJ is exasperated, but can't quite work himself into a tizzy because of his meds. "Anything, Anything" by Dramarama -When JJ goes full-on coquette to get his underaged twink ass into the night club. "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes -When JJ and Kris dance to The Cha Cha Slide and This Love, and then do a slow dance. "The Cha Cha Slide" by DJ Casper "This Love" by Maroon 5 "All My Life" by K-ci & JoJo -When Chris notes the stalker and chases after him. "Somebody Told Me" by the Killers

The Ancient Relic of the Massive Cock
methodwriter85 commented on Mark Arbour's story chapter in The Ancient Relic of the Massive Cock
I'm just being obstinate, as Adam Phillips would say. (My god the fights we got into on his various message boards back in the day ...Mark & Sharon can attest to those.) My main idea though is that JJ is at that income point where he really doesn't have to worry about money because his trusts and various stock options are doing that for him. The arts (which fashion is) are full of people like him- trust fund kids living off mailbox money (i.e. trust fund payouts) who patronize the actual starving artists. -

He kind of just accidentally fell into that though with John Carullo and the house. Unless they're not paying him anything to live in the house that he bought? I meant more instances like that, not anything on purpose but just buying places for himself here and there and letting people use them that he considers friends or family. Again, not anything on purpose but just kind of happening. -

I think you took a bit of a leap by saying "property tycoon." I meant more like Jeremy casually buying up places here and there and then renting out to friends/family, hiring someone to do the actually heavy lifting and managing of the place. He wouldn't consider that work, but it would actually be a passive income stream. Think Taylor Swift letting Sophie Turner use her New York City apartment that she generally keeps for renting out. It's not Scarlett O'Hara creating a shantytown to upscale her husband's lumber business. Now something like that would be beneath him. -

That was basically Brad's storyline with that 20-something boy toy he had for a bit in the aftermath of Robbie's death. He was so boring I didn't bother memorizing his name. It's good Brad is with Jake. Jake refuses to be taken as anything less than an equal despite not being a billionaire. It also helps that he's not young enough to be Brad's son. LOL -

I remember asking Mark about this, and Mark said something along the lines of, "JJ doesn't really care about where the money comes from as long as it keeps coming up in his account." Or a roundabout way of saying that JJ really doesn't concern himself with financial money matters because as long as his "mailbox money" (tm Southern Charm) keeps showing up, he's grand. They were concerned about JJ when he was with Zanie because they were worried he'd spend way more money on that obvious golddigger, but that sorted itself out. I kind of figure that JJ will eventually start buying up properties and getting other people to manage them and taking a percentage of rent, i.e. a passive income stream. He kind of already got himself started on that path without even really realizing that when he got Carullo that house and had that couple act as the contractor to get it together. JJ probably wouldn't think of it as work, just a fun thing to do to buy up a house, get it decorated, and then hire a landlord to run the place. -

I get a kick out of it as well. During "Poor man's Son" and the emancipation storyline I hated Will and wanted to see him punished, but I've since gotten okay with him. He's mellowed out a bit at 18 as compared to when he was 14. He also drives so much of the storyline that I figure you won't keep him settled down until he's nearing 30. (I still maintain the logical moment to pass on to the Gen Z characters is when 2016 hits.) So he can't mellow TOO much, or else he can't drive the story.- 51 comments

No, JJ decided his time was better spent directing the fashion scene of New York City under the tutelage of Bellona Carter. And hey, this stuff is indeed useful if you go by these two monologues from the Devil Wears Prada.- 51 comments

I love though that Anderson Cooper is so down to Earth and believes in earning your own money. He's gone in the record as saying he won't leave an inheritance for his son because he believes in making your own money. Having seen the way his family burned through their fortune over several generations, it's great that he wants to instill in his son the value of hard work.

I love that Private Tim basically sees Will as being some psychotic rich boy like Nate on Euphoria.

Man, it would have been great if you had the means to buy a house in the Obama era. My estranged dad bought a 2-bedroom little house in the Gulfport, Florida area for 48k in 2012, and when we did his estate in 2023 it went for 285k with no updates or anything. I still have fantasies about moving to some cheap house in the MidWest, like Iowa or Nebraska or something. (Not Montana or North Dakota, though, because it seems like those areas got taken over by rich people so real estate is crazy expensive there now.) I would have said Detroit, but apparently those days of very cheap houses in abandoned neighborhoods are over now.

Chapter 40 -When Travis recounts his trick that went very, very badly. "Save A Prayer" by Duran Duran -When Travis and Will see the stalker ratchet it up. "Creep" by Radiohead
-
....you had a "Zach" boyfriend experience, didn't you? Just like I'm positive Private Tim had a "Tony."
-
I'm pretty sure there was a relatively "recent" story chapter in one of the more recent books where Will admitted he doesn't know how to crack an egg.
-
In all honestly, because the Zach fancast is Liam Hemsworth. *shrugs* Also, I kind of just had a thing for "straight-seeming football jock strikes up a secret gay relationship" plots due to reading Nifty Archive stories starting around the age of 13 WHILE we were heavy into the nascent Abercrombie and Fitch era. LMAO

I am training to be a paralegal. Currently we're learning about the "at will" employment doctrine in Pennsylvania, and the "public policy" exception to at-will employment when it comes to wrongful termination lawsuits. Essentially, if there's no contract or a statute protecting you, you're screwed. You're really, really screwed. I just read about a case called Weaver v. Harpster (2009) where a woman who was sexually harassed was dismissed from her job. The court eventually ruled that her case did not trigger "public policy" because her place of employment had only 3 or less employees and the statutes governing sexual harassment (within the larger Pennsylvania Human Relations Act) can only apply to a business with at least 4 employees. THAT blew my mind.

I really don't think JJ has ever really delt with the issues of having a mom who essentially turned a blind eye to what was going on with him and his coach because she was too busy with her own mental breakdown. No, Private Tim. Will is Love. Will is God. I mean, Good. Will wants the best for all as He is the Divine ruler of all that is Righteous and God, I mean Good.

Meanwhile I'm begging Mark to let JJ cut loose a little now that he's 18. Maybe get a little too tipsy on wine or something.
