I always thought the initial characterization of JJ- the cheerful energetic puppy dog- was based on how I was when we first started interacting at Adam's group. I think that was just a holding pattern until JJ developed an actual personality when you decided to go "ice skater bitch" with the help of Daisy's input on the piranhas JJ would be swimming with. You also added a dash of Jan Brady, aka Middle Child Syndrome. Personally JJ as he is now reminds me of Blair from Gossip Girl, Blair from The Facts of Life, and a little bit of Erica Kane from All My Children. The typical spoiled rich bitch but every now and then you see flashes of heart, especially if there's someone around to humble them.

Chapter 47 -When Jeremy makes the grand gesture. "Jealous Guy" by John Lennon -When Will invites a massively uncomfortable Jeremy to meet his suitemates. "Popular" from Wicked Will really is just Galinda-coded while Jeremy is so Elphaba.

Mark has taken a "two steps forward, one step back" approach when it comes to maturing Jeremy's character. Like Kris for example. Jeremy feels empathy for Kris's situation, but then goes ahead and makes it all about him when Jeremy realizes that he's also in the same boat. Lol

This is, from what I've discussed with Mark, exactly what Mark was going for with this meltdown. You hit the nail on the head.

It's a tough situation. I think they were shocked that Jeremy had the explosive reaction he had, because in all honesty, Jeremy's not very close to Brad and Jeanine was always the parent he was closest to. (Will went to Brad, Darius went to Robbie, and Jeremy went to Jeanine.) I think they might have figured that Jeremy would have a somewhat blase reaction to it. If I'm playing shrink, though, I think Jeremy's reaction was this bubbling mix about the rejection of his biological father, the truly nasty origins of how he was conceived, and feeling justification of, "Okay, so this is why I've never been Brad's favorite son- I never had a chance to be because I'm not really his son!" Then this got directed towards Will, the Golden Boy who couldn't be anything but Brad's son, and then the nastiness came out of Jeremy's mouth. And damn is Jeremy paying for that. Also, just general Theater Kid theatrics. Having gone to a performing arts high school, I've known and met a ton of kids like Jeremy. People hit their limit when dealing with kids like this and Jeremy is learning that lesson the hard way.

I think Private Tim appreciates that as much of a snobby stuck up ass Jeremy is, he still pretty much obeys the rules that are set in front of him and doesn't overindulge in partying. Okay, so for an illumination for the current pace of the series...JJ and I were both born on December 7, 1985. He's not quite 19 and I just turned 39. 😂 There was a point though where the lag between current CAP time and current Real time was only 11 years.

In the early 00's MTV had a reality show called Rich Girls. Tommy Hilfiger's daughter was on the show, and she was trying to make herself a burrito but gave up and called delivery. LOL I did kind of think that you were positioning Will as the more down to earth, "can hang with the common people" brother as opposed to stuck up ice prince JJ, but they haven't been as diametrically opposed as I thought they would be. I totally thought you'd have Will go on some kind of backpacking around Europe kind of adventure for his Gap Year and we didn't see him do anything like that at all.

Yeah, it took a lot, but it finally got there. Anyway.., Chapter 45 -When Jeremy realizes just how much he fucked up. "Trouble" by Coldplay I swear to god this song was everyone on t.v. at some point to denote a sad moment. LOL

I meant that Will at 18 is going to be Will at 25, 30, etc etc. I can't see him changing much. Jeremy's still got a LOT of growing up to do. No, he can't. I was on Prozac when I was 22 and some military recruiter guy backed away when I said that. Honestly, if you wanted any quicker way to get those military recruiter guys to back off, that would be it. LOL I don't know if it's still the same way anymore but you would see aggressive military recruiting all the time back then, especially because they'd try and call you off a list from the Selective Service draft you had to sign up for when you turned 18. The nicest part about turning 25 is that I stopped getting bugged about it. As my mentor Lee once said to me, "Jeremy, I really just cannot ever see you in the military." LOL

I see it as Jeremy will never not be a bitch, but he'll get better at keeping his bitchy thoughts to himself if he wants people to be willing to spend any time with him. Also Mark is just allowing Jeremy to mature a bit after so many years of arrested development. Will is pretty much who Will is, but Jeremy's got so much to catch up on in terms of social development. That's why I loved the scene of Jeremy sneaking into the bar. Normal teenagers do that kind of shit all the time, but Jeremy missed out on that kind of thing.

I had a track teammate like that. He was 17 and had a full-blown beard that made him look 35. Now that he's 40, he still looks 35, go figure.

Chapter 43 -When Will reads Jeremy's letter to him. "For Good" from "Wicked" Will and Jeremy's dynamic is so Glinda (Will) and Elphaba (Jeremy.) I can also see them as being like Blair (Jeremy) and Serena (Will) from Gossip Girl.

Chapter 42 -When Alex storms out and JJ is exasperated, but can't quite work himself into a tizzy because of his meds. "Anything, Anything" by Dramarama -When JJ goes full-on coquette to get his underaged twink ass into the night club. "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes -When JJ and Kris dance to The Cha Cha Slide and This Love, and then do a slow dance. "The Cha Cha Slide" by DJ Casper "This Love" by Maroon 5 "All My Life" by K-ci & JoJo -When Chris notes the stalker and chases after him. "Somebody Told Me" by the Killers

I'm just being obstinate, as Adam Phillips would say. (My god the fights we got into on his various message boards back in the day ...Mark & Sharon can attest to those.) My main idea though is that JJ is at that income point where he really doesn't have to worry about money because his trusts and various stock options are doing that for him. The arts (which fashion is) are full of people like him- trust fund kids living off mailbox money (i.e. trust fund payouts) who patronize the actual starving artists.

He kind of just accidentally fell into that though with John Carullo and the house. Unless they're not paying him anything to live in the house that he bought? I meant more instances like that, not anything on purpose but just buying places for himself here and there and letting people use them that he considers friends or family. Again, not anything on purpose but just kind of happening.
