It's gotta be General Bradson! He's not gay, but he is into all that techie stuff, flying and very well travelled. I understand that there are goats on his Christmas card list. The kind of goats that don't live near cliffs, of course. Do you have a son in the military??? So long as it's not Jane.

I'm anxious to meet pre-world saving Berryman. Should be a treat. Maybe "this world" doesn't need saving? That would suck! Why does it seem that Harold is fading into the background already? Along with the professor? I want answers, Corvus! :2hands:

The Secret Life of the Overture Boys
Conner replied to thatboyChase's topic in Stories Discussion Forum
There's a chink in the armour. Brought on by Berkley no less. Well, the drugs helped. Why isn't Berkley running for the hills? I appreciate his angst, but why does he appear to want to fix things with A? Why would he even want to try given the interaction at the skating rink? Oh, I forgot, humans do dumb shit. Anderson comes across as selfish and selfabsorbed with his friends, yet he's generous and considerate of his driver and housekeeper. Odd. I really want Cassisidy to answer A's question, "Why did you do it?" I think I may have to wait for that answer. Fascinating tale, Chase! -
Great love scenes in that chapter! I definitely had to smoke a cigarette after that chapter. Exquisitely satisfying! I enjoyed Granger's machinations in discharging his guilt around cheating on Travers. I hope that doesn't come back to bite him in the ass. If he were to find out that Travers kept himself chaste throughout their "separation", he'd be feeling more than guilt. If I had to take a guess as to whether Travers wiil remain true to Granger, it would definitely be "he gave it his best shot, but ended up giving Robbie his best shot." I also believe Granger will fall in love with Calvert. Calvert will fall in love too, if he hasn't already. Sure makes for some interesting chapters when Granger returns fron India.

So imagine Harry bedding his younger self and discovering, much to his dismay, that he's a lousy lay. I'm really enjoying the story, Corvus. It's just that my mind is wandering waiting for the next chapter.

I believe this statement can aptly be described as self-serving logic. Mind you, there is some merit in what you say, especially given that the impugned cliffhangers are not overly intense. An author must be free to utilize the tools available to him. Seeing that both Mark Twain and Charles Dickens both used cliffhangers in their newspaper published serial stories, you're in good company.

The Secret Life of the Overture Boys

No dull moments here, folks! Dad's an ass. This Cassidy thing is most intriguing. Must be A's id or alter ego, or conscience...or maybe A's just seeing dead people. That's been done already you know, Chase? I felt like I was in a race reading these two chapters. I was the hare in The Tortoise and The Hare...I raced like hell knowing I was gonna lose anyway. To hell with consequences. -
I really do like your writing style. Perhaps I should say speaking style because the dialogue, including Evan's self-dialogue, is just remarkable. And it's funny, too! I can't tell you how much I wanted Evan to lay into Kyle. :2hands: That was absolutely gratifying. Miss Davis, our hippie wannabe, has her work cut out for her. Evan definitely going to be a tough nut to crack. She does seem up for the challenge. A grief counsellor - can you imagine having a job like that! Unfortunately or not, Evan does need to crack. BTW, I was in my twenties through the 70's. Those were good years. I wasn't much of a hippie, but everyone my age liked to dabble...occaisionally I'd throw on a ty-dyed t-shirt and some "love" beads. No doubt Miss Davis' formative years were right smack in the 70's. We'll just have to blame her parents. I hope Miss Davis realizes that boys are taught not to do emotions. Girls do emotions. Guys can be aggressive now and then....well, because boys will be boys. Evan is a whole lot angry right now and is certainly acting it out, all the while doing the lone wolf thing...which is sort of a symptom of not being able to do the emotion thing. I'm going to stop now before I make this entire story about me.

Yes, nothing like a battle to clear the mind! I wish Granger had said something like, "I love the smell of gunpowder in the morning"! Coitus interruptus is worse than a cliffhanger! That was just plain nasty. Excellent chapter, Mark!

[Duncan Ryder] How the Light Gets In
Conner replied to MikeL's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Horse feathers! Sympathetic enough? Are you serious? Your post is just a shameless attempt to get your readers all riled up! As you can see, it's working...on me at least. Matt is a sweet sweet man, so is Luc. They're both in a lot of pain. Matt seems overwhelmed with shame around his past. His past is something we don't know a lot about. Hopefully, we'll learn more. He is so trying to be a decent person again. He's shown us how decent he can be - I'm remembering that scene with him and Luc in the kitchen a few chapters back. Matt's got Scott pissed at him ans Brandon is going to be kinda tied up with his girl for a while. He's pretty much on his own. I keep thinking, though, that something else went on between Matt and Josh. Matt fell in love. All Josh seems to remember, and vaguely at that, is a few bj's. Something's not right there. There, I feel better now. -
A momentous chapter for sure! The ending was just so perfect - a flying lesson. I loved the way CJ stretched it out, too. So wonderfully satisfying!

The post-movie dialogue between Evan and Adrian in chapter 4 was superb! Just loved it! It seemed somewhat ironic, I must say, that Adrian was scolding Evan for not being more normal in approaching him the way he did. Adrian's the one who is supposed to operate outside the normal. Mind you, he had been feeling a tad defensive most of the evening. I'm trying not to "engage" Adrian's character too much...it's not working though. I imagine it's only going to get worse. Super story!

It was easy to sense Granger's pride as he led his ship from the harbour onto the open seas. Really a fascinating chapter! So it was Humphreys seeking an appointment with Granger. Another victim of navel politics, or more accurately in this case, a vindictive captain. Well, he's going to remain a midshipman for at least another year it would seem. I'm wondering if Humphreys took Fitzwilliam aside after his poor behaviour upon first meeting his captain. Might have nipped Fitzwilliam in the bud and saved him an ass whipping. Given the chapter ending, it would appear that Fitzwilliam's bud might be getting well nipped as it is. < Did you ever hear of the two English gays? Gerald Fitzwilliam and William Fitzgerald. > I'm sorry. The devil made me say that. Granger was quite inconsolable after reading Travers' letter. That was sad. I had forgotten about Jeffers - was his assistance a variation on a "stiff upper lip"? Ok, stop teasing us, Mark. Bring on Granger and Calvert!!!

A great opening chapter! I hope Poulin and his privateers are successful. Sounds like Granger needs his purse replenished. I'm hoping Ranger isn't the type to bring his "catch" back to his master for praise. I'm thinking Winkler and Ranger may provide some comic relief on this long voyage. Speaking of long voyages, there's no way Granger will survive that long trip without some man-love. The menu seems to be shaping up nicely. So who is this senior midshipman? I trust Granger will express his expectations very clearly before allowing the young lad to join his ship.

I want to stalk the person who voted for Robbie to die. Kindly identify yourself so I may do so!

[NickolasJames8] Staying Together
Conner replied to Conner's topic in Promoted Author Discussion Forum
Great chapter, Nick! I've really enjoyed listening to Phillip these last two chapters. There's a lot of insight into his past behaviour. His little sister sounds like quite the challenge. It seems that Jarred is the only one of our four friends who's not in a difficult place right now. I'll just have to wait and see. Jarred's always been a fascinating character. Let me say it again, glad you're back, Nick! -
Well, Tiger, you most certainly did call it. But, think of all the disappointed gay men out there. Superb story, Mark!

Nice job, Kalen! The sarcasm and irreverence are absolutely superb. Always a plus for me.

I'm not opposed to Cody and Brian hooking up but I don't think it's in the cards. Needless to say, though, Cody will sleep with Brian. It seems that's what gay men in this story do; they sleep with Cody. I think I'd enjoy a Cody-narrated story, but again, it's not in the cards. Although Cody will likely continue to be in the story. Brian is a good bet, though. My preference would be Brad or Robbie. Given Ace's reaction to the re-made Brian in chap 24, I could see him taking a walk on the wild side. His biological dad did! Then again, he's married and stuff. Chapter 24 saw things calm down; everyone seems happy. What's up with that??? I know we're close to the end here; but there's room for a little more drama!

So, if Felicia is there, then the other 4 must also be "her" men. I'm hoping the General is one of those 4. He can fly the plane if it comes to that. The ruse used to get them on the Scar's plane was absolute genious. Seeing that the only events I have predicted so far involve pool parties, I'm going to go all out here and predict that the good guys will beat the bad guys! Not bad, eh? I'm also going to predict that there will be a happy ending! Not only that, but the ending will involve certain characters performing erotic dancing in a brand new dance club. I'm hoping the dancers will be wet, one way or another.

Happy B-Day, Your Froginess!!

I absolutely roared laughing throughout that chapter! Stef was in fine form! Excellent, Mark!

I'm thinking old bob would just like some acknowledgement from the site management for riding in on his white steed and chastising the would be pronographer sending him running for the hills with his porn tale between his legs. I propose that for the next annual GA Author Awards that there be created a special category called, "Best Performance by a GA member in a Censorship role." Bob will certainly get my nomination.

This is most definitely one of those stories where you can't get the chapters fast enough. Superb story, James!
