“Okay, Kid,” remarked Aubrey as he handed the baggie to Buddy. “Are you sure you know where to take it?” “Yeah,” replied Buddy. “I’m not an imbecile.” “Just be careful,” responded Aubrey. “This is an upscale neighborhood, and people will wonder what you’re doing there.” “I’ll be careful,” assured Buddy as he left the trailer. Aubrey wanted him to deliver some weed to a residential neighborhood outside of town. It would be a thirty-minute ride on the bus, but he had been promised that

“I can assure you, Mrs. Caldwell,” remarked Dr. Carville, the Superintendent of Center City Schools, “that safety is our first concern.” He looked over at Kyle and continued, “We’ll do everything we can to make sure that your son is not harmed.” Mrs. Thornton, the principal of Center City High School, shuffled some papers on her desk, cleared her throat and said, “I’ve emailed Kyle’s teachers and informed them of the situation.” She looked over at Kyle and remarked, “There may be some initia

Buddy held up his hands and begged Aubrey not to shoot him. “I promise,” he cried. “I got jumped from behind. There was nothing I could do.” Aubrey eyed him angrily and spat, “Why didn’t you come to me and tell me? I had to hunt all over this fucking trailer park for you.” “I was going to,” insisted Buddy, “but I was too scared.” He pulled up his shirt and showed Aubrey the dark bruise on his left side. “See what they did to me?” Aubrey lowered his gun and placed it back in his wai

Kyle sensed something was wrong as soon as he entered the school. Several students stared at him and giggled as he made his way to his first period class. He overheard one girl ask another, “Is that him? He’s kind of cute.” Throughout first period, students would pass their cell phone to another student when the teacher wasn’t looking. They would then look over at him and laugh. Something was going on, but he didn’t know what. It didn’t take him long to find out. When he entered his sec

When Buddy left Andre’s trailer, he headed over to the only place he could find refuge- his aunt’s house. She lived six blocks away in a small, wood-framed cottage. His aunt, Mavis Jenkins, was the youngest of six sisters of his mother’s family. He also had three uncles, but he rarely saw any of them. Occasionally, they would stop by the trailer to get drunk with his mother. On those occasions, he would usually go to Andre’s or his aunt’s house. Since it was late when he knocked on the door,

Kyle was watching television in the family room when the doorbell rang. He waited until the fourth ring until he got up to go to the door. When he opened it, Brad was nervously waiting. “Is Melissa here?” he asked as he looked over Kyle’s shoulder. “I’m not sure she wants to see you,” responded Kyle. Even though he had no idea what was going on, he knew that Brad must have been the mother fucker Melissa was referring to when she arrived home earlier. He had not seen her or his mother in

Buddy entered Mr. Peterson’s American history class and quickly glanced over at Kyle. He was hoping he could make eye contact with him, but Kyle had his history book open. It appeared he was trying to read what had been assigned for homework. The night before, he had promised Andre that he would make an attempt to talk to Kyle. If nothing else, he told him he would just say hello. He couldn’t understand why the dark-haired boy had caught his imagination. There were hundreds of good-looking b

The football stadium was filled to capacity. It was the first game of the season, and the Mighty Center City Wolverines were facing their cross-city rivals, the Hillmont Ravens. The players had just run onto the field, and the spectators were cheering wildly. “There he is!” shouted Melissa Caldwell, a junior at Center City. Beside her stood her brother, Kyle, a sophomore. “Who cares,” replied Kyle as he watched the young tailback run confidently onto the field surrounded by his teammates

The twins held each other tightly for several minutes. Kevin could feel Devin’s love surging through his body. For weeks he felt he had lost his brother’s love, but it now seemed even stronger. “I’m sorry, Kev,” Devin said tearfully as he pulled away. “I’ve been a real shithead the past few weeks.” Kevin smiled slightly and responded, “Yeah, you have.” He playfully hit Devin on the arm. “Well, some of it is your fault, you know,” he replied as he softly hit him back

Wow! @droughtquake What an imagination. I would never have thought of that scenario. You're right, though, about fraternal twins having different fathers. I remember reading years ago about a woman ( believe she may have been from Germany) who had twins- one white and one black. It seem she had sex with two different men within a short period of time. Being a twin, I would hate to have explained that! You're also right about the DNA: Identical twins have the same DNA because they originate from the same egg, which divides into two embryos after it is fertilized. They are always the same sex and have the same blood type – though their fingerprints will differ. Twins who are not identical do not carry the same DNA. So it would be impossible to tell if the baby belongs to Devin or Kevin.

Cameron was approaching his uncle’s house when he noticed someone sitting on the steps. He had his head down, and the hood to his coat was covering his head. As he walked nearer, the figure lifted his head. At first Cameron thought it was Kevin; but after a closer look, he realized it was Devin. He approached him cautiously. Devin dropped his head down and pulled the hood tighter around his face. When he drew nearer, he raised his head and looked at Cameron. His eyes were moist with te

Cameron smiled when he opened the door to see Kevin standing outside. “Come in.” He moved aside as Kevin brushed past him. “Mom is in the kitchen.” “Hello, Dear.” Mrs. Lynch walked up to Kevin and embraced him. “How are you this afternoon?” She set glasses of milk and cookies on the table. “Sit down, Boys.” They ate the cookies and stared across the table at each other. Cameron would blush occasionally and look down. When they finished, he invited Kevin to his room.

Kevin looked quickly around as Paul ran towards him. He saw a fence in the backyard of the lawn where he was standing, so he turned and headed for it. He jumped it easily and ran across the backyard and then jumped the fence into another yard. He looked back and noticed Paul struggling to get over the fence. “Mother Fucker!” Paul screamed and then he headed back to the car. Kevin tore off across the lawn and then ran into the next street. He heard tires squealing and saw the car racin

Devin was lying naked beside Ashley. She was outlining circles on his chest. Occasionally, she’d lean in and plant kisses on him. It was the first chance they had been able to get together in a week. Since half the school now knew they were meeting during class under the stadium bleachers, they were afraid that the administrators would soon hear the rumors and catch them. Besides, both of their grades were hurting as a result of missing classes. “What are you thinking?” It had been sev

“Mom?” “What, Dear?” Cameron was snuggled up beside his mother watching television. He was exhausted after his fishing trip with Kevin. It was dark when they dropped him off. He had taken a shower, put on his pajamas, and went into the living room to watch some television with his mother before going to bed. “How do you know when you’re in love?” Mrs. Lynch looked down at the innocent face of her son. She put her arm around him and tried to hide the tears that were

After showering, Kevin returned to his room and dressed. He sat down on the side of the bed and tried to listen if his parents were still arguing. The house was silent except for music emanating from Devin’s room. Kevin felt lost. He was overwhelmed with a feeling that his life was reeling out of control, and he didn’t know how to stop it from spinning. He needed help dealing with things. He knew he could depend on Cameron, but they had only met a week earlier. They were still in

@Rndmrunner I agree completely with you Rndmrunner. Considering what he says about family sticking with family, his father disowning him does contradict that. I have changed it to him being ashamed of his son, not disowning him. I guess when I originally wrote it, I was going for drama; but like you pointed out, it doesn't fit how his father supports his sons. Thanks!

Mr. Williams paced around the family room. Devin was sitting back on the sofa with a smirk on his face. He enjoyed watching the anguished look of his father as he let the news sink in. Finally, his father stepped before him and looked down angrily. “I am about to say something I never thought would ever come from my lips.” Devin grinned. He was expecting his father to say how disappointed he was about Kevin. As soon as Paul left, he had gone into the family room and t

Kevin was breathless when he reached Cameron’s house. Since he had left school in a hurry, he didn’t think to borrow bus fare from Stanley or Charles. They had already left by the time he remembered, so he trekked the twenty blocks to Cameron’s home. “Hey!” Cameron’s eyes lit up when he saw Kevin standing on the porch. “I didn’t know you were coming by tonight. I thought you had basketball practice.” Kevin attempted to smile, but he was too worried about what happened
