What a dramatic chapter! Lol - of course Dan will be saved. You wouldn't change the tone as darkly as that.
-
At the start of the chapter I thought, 'Oh no, they're apart again' - but lol - yes - at last they're together.
-
The magic scene was very dramatic. Matt has intriguing facets to his character. -- gentle and seemingly unsure of himself, then strong and authoritative.
-
At last they're talking.

'stuffed a fork full of blood into his mouth' - Whoo! What an image!

Hmm! Interesting. I love a bit of fantasy , so lets see what happens.

Double The Trouble. Chapter 38. **** The food at their favourite restaurant was wonderful, again, but Peter wondered about the surprise decision to all go out and eat. Something was going on. Rob was full of life, but kept smiling when nothing funny had happened, and Matthew kept looking at him. "He's up to something Peter. He gets like that when he tries to surprise me. And look at Beth. She knows what it is." They were standing at the buffet selecting their sweets and Peter had to agree.

Double The Trouble. Chapter 37. Matthew's face lit up with a smile. "Three warm-up laps for a start and then I’ll tell you." He ended up not making it a very hard session at all, and spent most of the time swimming with Peter. Kenny didn't try anything in the change room afterwards and Peter really appreciated that. On the way to Matthew’s place with Brent, they were talking about it being the first time Kenny hadn't given Peter a boner for three weeks. "He’s not too bad Peter. He admires

Double The Trouble. Chapter 36. Rob arrived in the morning and gave them a lift to school. It meant they were early, but it felt great seeing him, and when they arrived he jumped out of the car, squeezed Matthew’s neck and told him he was going to have good day, but to ring if anything went wrong. Peter got a similar treatment and then they were waving as the car drove off. "What will we do?" They decided on the library as the best idea, since they were both apprehensive about seeing too ma

Double The Trouble. Chapter 35. "You can wait in the car while I find some clothes for you." Well, Andy had decided on the pattern and there was no use arguing, so Peter and Matthew slipped from the car, wrapped the rug as best as they could manage round the two of them, then looking in all directions to see if anyone was watching, raced across the road. Halfway there a horn started blasting and kept sounding insistently till they reached the front door. Please! Please! Let it be unlocked.

Double The Trouble. Chapter 34. "What are we going to do?" The whole team was gathered after Wednesday training and Michael, one of the Year Ten guys, was looking quite worried. "Don't take any notice Michael. They'll forget about it by next week." "No they won't Andy. My whole class was talking about it this afternoon and they didn't believe me when I said it was a kind of joke." "What did they say?" "One of the guys in my class has a cousin on the Hillston team. He had the whole story

Double The Trouble. Chapter 33. All sorts of things happened on Monday. Most of their spare time was taken up with talking to Andy, Marty, and Brent about their respective weekends. Mr Crossman, well Andrew, had a quick word at the end of maths B. And then Peter knew it was going to be embarrassing at training because at lunchtime some of the team guys were calling him the spunk machine. As soon as Andy and Marty found out about Peter’s close call in the change room on Thursday afternoon they

Double The Trouble. Chapter 32. Peter did sleep in next morning, but only till about nine, then after some breakfast, which Matthew brought up for him, they stayed in bed reading till eleven. Halfway through training Ricky turned up, and as soon as Peter saw him looking round he gave a wave and he and Matthew climbed out of the pool. "Hi Ricky." "Hi." "Coming in for a swim with us?" "Um... Not really. I didn't bring any bathers." "Hey, I've got a spare pair. Come on. I’ll get them for yo

Double The Trouble. Chapter 31. "This is weird Matthew. I feel like I should be going to training." They were standing near the entrance to the teachers' car park, waiting for Mr Crossman, who came in a rush a few minutes after he'd said he would. "Hi Peter, hi Matthew. Sorry about that, there always seems to be something. Now, have you got everything?" They both nodded and then headed for the car. The ‘everything’ wasn't much, just runners, shorts and a sport shirt. The car was the same a

Double The Trouble. Chapter 30. Brent was dropping Matthew off so Peter went straight to Andy's place in the wagon. Their meal wasn't quite ready so the three of them raced over to tell Beth how the worrying competition had gone. She would have had to wait for ages without knowing otherwise, especially about Matthew. She made a big fuss about Andy for leading it all and then about Marty for the spectacular win, saying all her knights were now official champions. After their meal they manage

Double The Trouble. Chapter 29. The evening was wonderful. Andy and Colin were both made to feel very special, and the food was everything Andy could have asked for and more. Laughter rang out time after time and it felt to Peter as if everyone was saying goodnight when they’d barely arrived. After talking with his mum he had a quick shower and jumped into bed. He started reading but his thoughts returned to the happenings of the day. Wishing Matthew had stayed the night he switched the light

Extaordinary sad with an element of mystery. The story title was so apt as I kept thinking why, why, why, both for the action and the reason for taking it.

Double The Trouble. Chapter 28. Since it was Saturday Peter had a lovely sleep-in till almost eleven, and after feeding his face, went back to bed to read, which he managed happily till Andy walked in at one. This was a change of plan since they weren’t meant to meet for training till two. "Where are we going?" "We're picking up Colin now instead of after training." "Oh, right." Except that wasn't the only change. At the pool when they parked next to Brent's car everyone piled into the wa

Double The Trouble. Chapter 27. There was a scurry for clothes when the sound of the car interrupted, and Beth walked in just as they reached the bottom of the steps. Her smile blossomed after one glance and the hugs were on. "So it went well. Is Matthew happy too?" "That's for sure. You won't believe what Andy did mum." She did of course, nodding all the way through and asking more questions as Peter spilled out the afternoon’s events. "And you're sure everyone backs you both?" "We thin

Double The Trouble. Chapter 26. Sunday was a good day. They left Matthew's place in the morning and drove to a reserve in the country which had a cave where a famous bushranger called Captain Moonlight used to hide when the troopers and police were searching for him. They climbed the giant granite lookout points and explored the boulder strewn ridge. The cave itself was really a big split in the rocks and the entrance was so well hidden it was a wonder anyone ever found it. Brent dropped them

Double The Trouble. Chapter 25. After sharing plans for the day, Peter and Matthew settled into catching up on their study. At a quarter to two they grabbed their sports bags and walked to school for an hour's training. Brent turned up after his work, and at 3:30 they were sitting in his car wondering where to go. "Hey, I know. Let's show Brent the river." "It'll take too long Peter." "No it won't. Not if we stop at the first river crossing. Half an hour of driving and twenty minutes walki

It is wonderful but that's one of the god-like powers of being an author, lol, we can make anything happen. It would be great if real life had the same reactions

Double The Trouble. Chapter 24. Beth was relaxing on the sofa when Peter came in so he walked over and sat down for a cuddle. She'd had another great day and four of the clients had signed on the spot. She knew Rob's recommendation had been a big influence but it was still very positive for her. "It's almost too much for one day a week already. Two clients need a regular weekly time and Rob’s relative will need at least a full day each month with the way they're set up. There was another inq

Double The Trouble. Chapter 23. Five minutes after last bell the whole team was loaded into the school minibus and heading for Banks High School with coach driving. "Yo Andy!” Peter was surprised at the friendliness of the welcome, and then there was chaos as thirty-five guys tried to grab a spot in the change room. The guy calling out had a build almost like Marty’s and was making his way towards them. "Yo! Ass features! Have you learnt to swim yet?" This brought general laughs and jeers
