The letter from the Earl was most telling. I can see him moving to give Bertie and George some of the estate that is not entailed. I am not sure that would be much of the land but it might be quite a bit of money or other property. The Earl seems to have seen the light, let's up others do as well. I do find that Granger has a way of working his charm in every situation. I have to believe part of this is his birth and heritage but some is just what kind of person he is inside.

Would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the room with Caroline going after Davina. I just adore how she moves to protect George and help him in his quest for greatness. I am going to be interested to see how the changes in personel effects the ship and his function. I do hope that it is all okay...

Have to wonder what happened for Caroline to get a man like Sir Phillip to come all the way out to explain things to George. I have a feeling the issue with Bertie and Freddie has started to make waves in the family... Sir Phillip is hot but I still want Granger to have a chance with Chartley, there is just something about him that makes him and Granger seem good together..

Granger handles himself with such dignity but he always makes sure to treat others they way they deserve to be treated and that will always pay dividens. I am glad that Ventura was still here and they got to spend a little time together...

Granger seems can't help being who he is. I find the way he works to help others understand what is going on to be more than could be expected of any man in his position of that time. I hope the visit to this port goes better than it did last time...

Ramsey is dead before Granger can even questions him. I am not sure what information he could have gotten but anything he could have provided about Davina would have been a help.

Damn, I knew there was something about Ramsey that I did not trust. Davina is just a bitch, I have to wonder what else she is capable of. This is going to have repercussions all over the place...

Just another reason that I don't trust Ramsey, I am not sure why but nothing since he was appointed to the ship has made sense about his being there. He seems to know things that someone in his position would not. I thought Granger handled the situation with the men and Gatling just perfectly. He even handled the discussion with Gatling afterward better than anyone else could have.

Roberts is a brave man. I don't think this plan will work but it will keep Granger and Nelson out of harms way and let them continue their journey. I do have to wonder why he sent Gatling back, I wonder if there is something there...

This was a chapter of passion and death. They flow together often like equal sides of a river. The battle was hard fought but Granger came out on top but not without loses. I do wonder where the Blanche got off to. It doesn't seem that they should have been that far from Granger and his ship.

This was just a fun chapter to read. It just flowed and the conversation as written was just sparkling. I really enjoy those moments when Granger gets to host the dinner part and that fun side of him comes out...

I would still like to know exactly what Ramsey is up to, he just seems to have to much information for someone of his position. I am going to miss Chartley. I am excited that Granger is going to Elba with Nelson, plus getting to be his flagship...

I know that some people really seem to like Calvert but I just dream of the day a cannon ball puts him out of my misery. I am glad that Granger has arranged transport for Chartley all the way to England. His letter to Caroline should get her involved and make this a more even battle back home.

Just when Granger was finding someone that might be his actual equal and be the right man for him, Calvert has to show up. I swear will this man just never die in battle or somewhere??? On top of that his behaviour is not doing anyone any favors. I have to wonder how Granger will play this.

I have a feeling that by the time that Caroline and George enter the battle on the side of Bertie that Davina and Freddie may wish they had decided to play on the up and up. I do find this part of the story really fascinating. Chartley doesn't seem to be as recovered as I thought he would be at this point. I hope he makes it, he seems like the kind of person that Granger should be with...

Damn, Granger is fighting a war and having to deal with his own family being up to something dastardly. I don't know what would be worse, Bertie being Bertie or Freddie acting like Bertie but without his charm... I have a feeling that Granger and Chartley are going to be more involved than anyone realizes at the moment..

Chartley is being an ass and it just doesn't make sense. There has to be something else going on, even if he is Granger's superior militarily; you just don't piss someone of Granger's influence off without a reason. Granger's plan gave them a chance to fight off the pirates, the wind may give them a chance to actually win. Let's hope they get off without to many loses...

I have to wonder why Izzy took off across the continent. This just doesn't make sense. I wonder if he did not want to travel with Lord Chartley. I have a feeling this is going to be a difficult voyage. I do find Chartley very interesting. I have a feeling that he and Granger may be enlivening each other's lives...

Well, Granger is going back to Naples and getting to deal with Izzy again. I have to wonder if that is going to be as easy as before. I do find Granger to be so interesting when dealing with people from such varied backgrounds. He finds just the right way to handle everyone.

I think that Granger had to get rid of Darby, it was just going to be a bigger problem the longer he was there. I do feel for Darby though, he lost Travers and now Granger in a very short period of time. I hope he is able to get his bearings and realize that what happened was for the best and is able to move on with his life in the navy. It is amazing what a few cannons can do to get someone's attention.

I have a feeling that Mr. Darby is going to be the kind of person that is going to worship the ground that Granger walks on and isn't going to be the kind to hide the fact. This may cause more issues than his promise to Travers makes it worth.

Granger had passed well into adulthood long ago but Travers death seems to be his death of innocence. Travers never knew the doubts that Granger had about their relationship and for that Granger is greatful and so am I.

I cannot tell you that time has dulled my reaction to this chapter at all. Each and everytime I have read this chapter, my heart just weeps. Travers was probably not the man that George was destined to end up with, their social positions were just too great. That being said, there is something about your first love that you just never get over. Travers was a good man and a very good Captain. He will be missed...

Well, the biggest part of the passengers are unloaded and on their way back to Spain. I am glad that Granger was able to help get them there. I do not trust Mr Ramsey, there is just something to fishy about the whole deal.
