what a cutie! I'm fond of yellow tabbies or as my Aussie bud calls them "ginger cats". Got a pic of your yellow kitty?

    Woo-hoo!

I won! I won! I won! I have recently started hanging out on E-bay. It's a really cool place to pick up things at a bargain. I got a copy of IBM's DB2 for the PC for $25. A new purchase would cost me hundreds. Computer books , science and text books- always WAY overpriced new can be got for a song on E-bay. I got my Object Oriented Programming in C++ for $10 (90$ at the bookstore). College book stores- what a racket! What I'm really pleased about is the auction I won tonight. I found a Mitsubishi Integrated Amp (AV-3) for $30. That's the one I REALLY wanted when I settled for my Cheap-o Technics Amp a few years ago. OK more like a decade ago. I never, ever really understand business. Mitsubishi has always been a favorite of tekkie geeks. Great engineering, high quality control- they always make great stuff right? Then they just up and leave the consumer electronics business. They used to make practically everything- even if a product wasn't GREAT, it was pretty darned good. Now there are no more Mitsubishi TVs, computer monitors, stereos-- BOOOO! Now tekkies like me fight over the leftovers. Sad... I wish that companies that made good products would stay in business. The ones that are good at marketing crappy products would dry up and blow away. I guess you need an MBA to figure it out because it makes no sense at all. SIGH. Oh well- I've got a great Amp on the way! I can't wait to plug it in. What should I play on it first? Something old or something new? Tools new album or some old Doors or Rush... I love this sort of quandary. Help me out: What should I play first on my new Amp?
  5. All my best wishes Nick. Once upon a time sitting at a red-light feeling sorry for myself, I asked what else could go wrong. Suddenly I was rear-ended by another car and got hit by car while the officer was writing up the accident report. Murphy (as in Murphy's Law) is a sadistic bastard. Never give him an opening like that! JS
  6. Nick- Be well buddy. I don't like doctors much. They always poke me somewhere awkward with something cold or squeeze something that shouldn't be squeezed. Then they have the nerve to ask does that hurt. My strategy with doctors is to take a good book, my CD player, some peanut m&ms and hide behind a fern. I'm usually well by the time they find me. Hugs, JS
  7. Happy Birthday Pat!

I'm hoping that things work out. You're a nice guy Camy and deserve better (ven though I was put off by the "Side-Show Bob" avatar for a while).

I agree with LittleBuddha. Your friend has done the typical insensitive male thing of opening his mouth without thinking. The only way you'll know if he was being daft or serious is to talk to him.
  11. I have a lot of sympathy for illegals. They want to work and will literally shovel s*it if that's what it takes. They come from places that most Americans are too dumb to find on a map, can't spell and don't care about unless they send terrorists after us. The people I don't have sympathy for are sitting on their butt, collecting a check for doing nothing. If we could trade our domestic losers for imported winners, we would be a lot better off. JS
  12. They are all well done but who wouldn't love Shane?
  13. Best of luck AFF! I hope that all goes well for you. Come back soon!

    Kitten Update

Ohhh! I want the little yellow tabby! I thought that I had one but he turned out to be a fuzzy pig.
  15. Hey Luc- Any cat person can't be too demented. The little varmits wouldn't have it. I too had a story that opened a big can of emotional worms for me. Brian & Pete by Dewey did it to me a year ago Febuary. I was emotionally shut in- real repressed. That story acted like a can opener. Sometimes to get the demons out, you've got to give them a good solid wack to let them know that they aren't welcome anymore. Cheers mate, JS
  16. People who work for a living because they have to don't go on strike. Striking is for f@t@ss automotive workers with 7th grade educations making 60K or pilots making 120K. Todays Unions wouldn't know a working man if they tripped over one.
  17. She's a Phelps. What do you expect? Besides- that's as close to Fox as she'll ever get.

  19. Greetings from Boo. I thought this was a cat but now I think he's a fuzzy pig. He's fat, lazy and grumpy.
  20. Happy birthday to my favorite Tex-Canadian. Frankly, you are the only Tex-Canadian that I know but I try to tell everybody that they are my favorite at something.
  21. Nick- you're only a kid once so why rush it? specially since you've got Taylor to spend time with. take care of yourself, JS
  22. Sumbloke is getting married! I am delighted for him. He is a sweet guy and deserves all the success and happiness that life offers. For this I am delighted. As much as this Sumbloke's news pleases me, I am stinging over the loss of Green. I thought very highly of him. Sure he had his issues but he was a bright guy, talented writer and a person of great promise. I am going to miss him. This my friends is life- joy and pain, success and loss, yin and yang. Treasure the ones you care about, hold them close.
  23. Sniff... I NEVER cry at weddings.
