  1. That's funny. Mine has always been in some one elses jeans!
  2. Hi SB- Last fall when Katrina waxed Mississippi, the power was out in most places fron 1-4 weeks. We didn't know when it was going to come back on so we had "freezer feasts" where we BBQed everything in the freezers that thawed out before it went bad. In some of the worst hit areas, stuff in freezers went bad and cooked for a while in the late summer sun. It's bad enough to get your city wacked by a hurricane but the bad, funky cloud of decomposing pot-roasts is adding insult to injury. Glad to see you. JS
  3. I'm definitely FOR anything chocolate! I'd probably eat chocolate-covered nails. Here- I'll give it a go now: The person below me has a messy desk.
  4. I take a look at a number of scientific jounals every month to see what is new. I thought I might share this as it might be of interest. The material is OK as I have cited it and created links to its source. Your thoughts and impressions are welcome of course. _____________________________________________________________________________ Study: Sexual Desire is in Your Genes By LiveScience Staff May 29, 2006 Source Link Your sexual desire or lack thereof could be in your genes, scientists announced today. The discovery might change how psychologists view sexuality. The researchers found that individual differences in human sexual desire can be attributed to genetic variations. The study is the first to provide data to show that common variations in the sequence of DNA impact on sexual desire, arousal and function, the researchers said. The scientists, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, examined the DNA of 148 healthy male and female university students and compared the results with questionnaires asking for the students' self-descriptions of their sexual desire, arousal and sexual function. They found a correlation between variants in a gene called the D4 receptor and the students' self-reports on sexuality. The results suggest that low sexual desire might be a normal biological condition rather than a psychological problem, the researchers say. Further, it might be possible to develop drugs to alter sexual desire based on the new findings. The research was led by Richard Ebstein and was published in the online version of the journal Molecular Psychiatry. 5. I've loved Vance's stuff since I read Shane!
  6. Yeah- when I moved, I went through a significant bandwidth withdrawal. Going from DSL down to 36kbs was horrible. I'm surprised I was able to do as much as I could with dialup. I made a sixty meg download but I started it before I went to sleep and it finished the next morning . One of the best things about Dangerfield was that he was great about helping new talent establish themselves. He was very helpful in the careers of Bobcat, Sam Kinson, Rosanne (well, nobody is perfect), Cho and many others. A lot of top billed guys in the entertainment business are pretty arrogant. They wouldn't help a fly into the afterlife. Rodney wasn't like that and it got Dangerfield a great deal of respect (despite his tagline).
  7. Yeah- I'm tickled pink about the DSL. I think it stands for "Doesn't Suck out-Loud. I could have gotten high speed cable but that would have meant dealing with Time-Warner- the evil empire that controls the local cable system. I hates them, I hates them forever Precious. I'd rather have my internet via smoke signals. I like Carlin a lot. I didn't list him cause he's still alive. I think Mencia is the best of the new crop.
  8. Dangerfield rocked! He was great but he wasn't really that old. He went before his time because he partied way too hard for way too long. Past 60, you've gotta slow down some. I like Chappelle! The other two I haven't seen much of.
  9. Hi Demetz Welcome! I know as much about Islam as I know about say- the Andromeda galaxy. It's there, it's big and complex but I've never mixed or mingled with anyone from there. That is half the fun of the net-- even a redneck from the sticks like me can meet all sorts of people. Word up to any Andromedians that might be online. JS
  10. Why is it that all the comedians that I like are dead? Sam Kinson, Rodney Dangerfield, Lenny Bruce: I mean WTF? I must be getting old. I know there are lots of younger people on the board who probably don't remember these guys. Do yourself a favor and look them up. You'll laugh your ballz off! Well, that's an exaggeration. OK, so you'll just laugh and in all probability, you will sustain no debilitating injuries. In other matters... After suffering with dial-up Internet access for a year and 2 months, DSL finally became available in my new neighborhood! I've got my broadband on and I'm loving online life again. Chuckles, JS
  11. I wanted to share it because I feel like I should be proud of myself. As well you should be. When you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs... Oops! There I go again quoting someone whom I can't remember.

    Monday :(

Cheer up Vance! It's a long weekend.
  13. OK, story stuff ... I haven't gotten the final edit of Ch. 17 back from Kitty yet, but she's been busy and is taking care of her father back in Texas, so if for some reason it's a few days late, please be patient and don't send any hate mail or anything. I hope no one on GA would be so rude. Writing is an art and it takes what it takes to get it right. Most readers understand that. This really is an exceptional site with a lot of great people-- writers and readers. We GACs are proud of our exceptionally talented collection of authors and are very protective of them. We have ZERO tolerance for anything that might appear abusive or harassing toward them. I have a lead pipe for just such an occurrence. :mace:

    More kitten pics

Ohhhh- I want Butterball! I wonder how much a plane ticket for him would cost. Would he have an accent? Would the Mississippi cats make fun of him? I think about these things way too much.
