Just as he admits his secret to himself, he loses the one person he might tell, his mom. A few months later he goes on a trip with his dad to the beach and falls in love with 16 y.o. Skyler. Sky is the perfect boy but lives hours away, also deep in the closet. They maintain their secret long distance affair until it is traumatically discovered.

But not everything's perfect under the surface, and as he falls for his neighbor, makes new friends and learns to trust again it's a long road to making things right.

Rory's mom just died and soon after the funeral his life is turned upside down when he finds out that his mom has contacted the father that he never knew. Now, he's forced to live in the desert with a family he doesn't know, a father he doesn't want to know, and to top it all off, Rory's gay and no longer has anyone to confide in. Friends will be made and the meaning of family will be found as Rory discovers that everything isn't so bad in the desert.

This is my 'very' first M/M fiction writing project. My first true and real writing project of length for fun. So I believe I break every rule in the books and my writing is very raw and unclean. The story could use a rewrite to be honest, but I post this here, because it is the first. I'm not going to shy away from it. I just hope from this story to my latest works, I have grown in your eyes - the reader. Written around 2002 - 2003, first posted in 2003.
