When your voice is too loud even to your own ears, then write the words down so they won't hurt that much.

So I realized writing helps more than talking, although I have no talent, I still want to call these poems.

When a time-traveling capybara named Barnaby accidentally crash-lands onto an 18th-century sailing ship, his bizarre cargo of futuristic textbooks and modern contraceptives sparks a passionate romantic awakening between two young, brilliant shipmates.

Some people have their lives together.

Other people spend twenty minutes trying to get their lives together when all they really want is to close a document without having to argue with their computer, themselves, and several imaginary witnesses.

And then there are some documents that simply don't want to be written. They fight back like an old boyfriend you forgot you left in the closet. So the choice is yours to decide with who you want to sleep.

Write a story that begins with a phone call at three in the morning.

Trevor insisted the house phone be on his side of the bed. There was one problem with that; Trevor was nearly impossible to wake up. One night, the phone rings at three AM. Julius has a hard time waking Trevor, but finally succeeds. Trevor finally answers the phone on the ninth ring. The phone call starts something they never could have expected.

Yorkshire, 1901. A baronet's younger son learns the duties of an estate he will never fully inherit. A groom who survived the Boer War tends horses he has known longer than the young master himself.

Between them: the precise distance that rank requires, and everything that accumulates in the space it creates.

Loose Box is a quiet story about two men who never say what they mean — because one has no words for it, and the other already knows.
