Victor's Attempts at Poetry - 1. For My Mum

When I saw it in your eyes for the first time

I didn’t know what it was called,

I knew I didn’t want to see that anytime.

Later I found out its name: disappointment

I never wanted to make you feel such pain.

I could stand your anger and hatred

If I must, your distain

But not the tears in your eyes.

Time and time, I’ve tried to be good

But you weren’t disappointed.

You said, trying is the most important

But also to is knowing when to accept.

I wanted you to be proud of me

But I have accepted the reality.

I hope the day you find out,

I will see the same love in your eyes.

Thank you mum, for bringing me into this world.

The values you gave me are my biggest treasures

And I will cherish them forever.

The very ones that taught me to hate lies,

For that is why I left to search for the one.

It is my promise to you, when I love

I will love with all I have, without hiding anything.

I wrote this in my mum's honour. I couldn't show it to her though. Thanks tim for editing it for me  , you're the best :)

...I know that disappointment look...

But still, be brave when the time is right.

We, your other, infintially larger family,

will be so proud of you that day.

Never doubt it

Thanks AC  , gosh, that was such a beautiful poem  , you, tim and Gary's poems are what inspired to try my hand at poetry in the first place ^_^ and I never doubt the love of my family here xoxo

Beautiful, little buddy! This is so easy to relate to, that hope for family acceptance. Hang in there. Mothers are special, and deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. Much love and hope for you, Victor  Another poet in our midst... well done... Gary....

Thanks Gary  , you're right  mothers are special, so are fathers  I know my mum quite a bit, I know how she would react but I hoped her love was strong enough to overcome that :)

That was wonderful, Victor!

I'm not an expert on poetry, not even close. I know what I like, though, and I like these written from the heart words. I hope your mother sees this one day, and sees you for the good and honest and kind man that are.

Thanks Reader  , I would love to show my mum this one some day. maybe I'll write a different one that I can show her right now. But poetry should come spontaneously, not if I think and try  , cheers

The day will come when you are ready to show this one to your mother.  I am pretty sure you will see love, not disappointment.  She could not have raised a son as terrific as you and be so set in the old ways as to not accept who you are.

Thanks Ma  I hope what you say turns out to be true  I still found a terrific mom on GA
