  1. I grew up in a little country store just a couple hours or so southwest of you in Southern Illinois so I know of what you speak. For us it was deer season every year and watching the city folk drive by with every kind of livestock imaginable tied to their vehicles thinking they'd bagged a trophy deer. And then there are the locals that were always good for their moments. Like the guy that had a high-speed come apart over my giving him 9¢ ($0.09, nine cents) too much change back as if he'd been truly and deeply offended. Those were the days.

    Chapter 11

I read this story as you posted it on your own site and loved it then. To be able to sit down and read it uninterrupted in a single day was a treat. I know I don't comment often enough, but I've been a devout fan since shortly after you came online (late 90s, maybe?) and your work has always been awesome. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to share your incredible talent.

Good god. Life is depressing enough as it is.

    Chapter Ten

<Charges Sawz-All battery and searches for the dullest blade available...>

    Chapter Eight

I hope I didn't offend anyone with my comment, but I spent 29 years working in corrections. I have serious issues with disingenuous folks.

    Chapter Eight

Sebastian should be gelded with a Sawz-all...

    Chapter Seven

I believe I shall add Sebastian to the list of characters that I would love to see tied ankles to wrists and suspended from a tree by his scrotum. That is all.
  9. Hello GLH. I am glad that GA has you as a member. You fit right in and do it all. The one thing I worry about are the long gaps in posting, over a year for your last one. At your (our) age, a long silence is quite often bad news. Maybe you travel a lot. Whatever, glad you are back, keep in touch.

I want to wish you a very Happy 58th Birthday and day of celebration.

    Take care

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes. Yes, I've been rather busy this year, but more so the past couple of months and it seems to have been somewhat overwhelming of late. I went on a 7 day Caribbean cruise in September and hit the ground running on my return. When I'm home I'm usually transporting my disabled sister for treatment in Chicago (320 miles/515 km one way) or my 82 year old mother as far as Saint Louis (140 miles/225 km one way) for her doctors and this year has been especially trying. Adding to that I've had my own issues crop up and between the three of us I'm usually on the road almost daily, it seems. I haven't had a lot of time to do more than keep up with my reading and I usually do well to remember to 'like' a chapter, let alone comment.

  10. Happy Birthday!

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes! I've been so busy and had so many distractions this year it seems it's just blown by.

  11. I really need to quit reading such dark, hope-destroying... I've followed this series since its inception and enjoyed every minute of it. I get it that Dustin's life is shit and no matter how hard he tries to dig himself out it seems it's always 'one step forward, two steps back'. Here's hoping things turn around (or end) soon.
  12. Happy Birthday!

  13. From the MOFW department: I'll just stick to my spreadsheets and post my emojis to the running commentary.
  14. Well it would figure I'm away on holiday and can't update the spreadsheet. Great to see back Mark!
