Musings of a Wordsmith - 11. Happily Ever After

In the mood to share a sad poem... "Poetherapy" has been helping a lot when life deals a bad different hand.

I had my forever, I thought,
my happily ever after;
suddenly, though,
forever just fizzled away.

Just like fireworks:
from bright, colorful, beautiful,
to almost silently disappear.
My forever simply faded away.

And though terribly missing
this forever ever after,
all I see around myself
is scorched earth,
a burnt off landscape
but bearing the green hue
of a future to come.

My forever never was anywhere
but inside of me.
Through grief and pain
forever will come through again
this time, though,
from the confines of my heart.

There are indeed green shoots of hope springing up in this. Even though you recognized forever isn’t really what it seems, you’ve looked for the growth amid the brown curled leaves of loss.

It was a really tough time, I came to the conclusion that whatever Solution there might be could only come from myself, and so the healing started 😊

Thanks for reading and commenting, Parker.
