Time and Nature - 1. Chapter 1
1.
As I look at my life, I grope unseeing for tomorrow
The future is unviewable; a blizzard of
blinding milkiness and brutal wind,
white noise and banshees
As I look at my life, I flounder in blinkers
Behind, the past is stark, a heated desert,
shimmering sand and fluid mirages carry
both truth and lies
I shield widened eyes as I look at my life
The present is a cool green oasis
safe and sheltering, filled with
strife and hope
2.
Time is oft quoted as a river
Some travel by canoe
clasped in safety like
lover’s arms
Other brave souls stand
on dangerous rafts
facing tumultuous rapids
Ready to fly from the
balls of their feet
3.
I have entered the autumn of my life
Many times, I’ve seen the seasons change
Spring, summer, and fall, but
I fear my winter as it will be
the end of things, the final act
Not again will I see Spring
4.
Autumn - when cold air runs and leaves fly. Hands shoved into pockets bravely refusing gloves. Some fools still in shorts, knees knocking. Trees become rainbows, some on fire in reds and orange. The wind makes skeletons of them all, but the hardy forever greens. Nature knows it’s time now to sleep. To huddle below and wait until the flying snows give up under the sun.
5.
I’m lonely and wishing for you
How long will you be away?
Will you return to me
on a peaceful summer’s day?
Perhaps you’ll travel in autumn
when forests amaze
as colours of a sunset
set their leaves ablaze.
Or will you come in springtime?
Over the melting snow
when the air is warming
and the Galanthus start to grow
