My Twentieth Year - 22. an amber coal

Poem No. 46

You know of course I meant to go

before she went

but then she went before I got the chance to go

so now I'm going after she went

Oh no.

Poem No. 47

Prelude:

Today I watched

the sun be born.

In words, it went like this:

Poem:

I.

Fizz and fuzz and chill a-snap

it's sad above the trees

Will and wile and still a-chap

It is cold enough to freeze

Fizz and fuzz and chill a-bap

the sun nothing more than a tease

Will and wile and still a-snap

only a cold light edges the breeze.

II.

Hint and hue of burning blue

an amber coal gives rise

Brace and bob of hinting hue

through misty, drowsy skies

Rick and reel of sighing sight

rousing thus by its color

Sent and steel of wronging right

forgetting what was duller

Moan and moat of changing chance

half an ellipse raises its voice

Choose and change of manly stance

asking all to make a choice

Heat and haul of blaring new

an amber coal gives rise

Burning off the hinting hue of blue

ascending misty, drowsy skies.

That, AC, was the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen!

I'm still puzzling over 46. My devious mind putting meaning I'm sure you never intended,
But I'll need to let her go for now, I have so much reading to catch up on, let alone writing.

Thanks for your colorful review, skinnydragon. I assume this lovely shade of vermillion is what you got while reading? It's beautiful.

As for the first one, yes, do not read too much into it. Think of both of them as alliteration breaking out of its shell :)

46 made me laugh .. and dont ask me why cuz i've never had one but it reminded me of cats.. i said dont ask me why....an image of them just popped into my head when i read it
47 was fun with words, it was a sunset... the tone reminding me of Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. At least in my head, which after this pair of reviews, you'd likely not want to visit!

How very much I wish I had known your twentieth year self, if only to enjoy a sunrise once...liked this!

No. 46 should be included in every English textbook. Both funny and instructive for the use of tenses.

No 47
A sunrise so splendidly sketched shows substantial skill.

Thanks, Tim. I like your take on No. 46 – I can see a cat lurking around there.

As for what you say on No. 47, I'm honored. I know Lewis Carroll was an early influence on your interest in literature, so to be mentioned in the same breath with him is an honor.

Thank you again!

I doubt you would have enjoyed my insomniac ways, but it's nice to think we might have been a comfort to one another.

Thanks for the sweet review, Parker. You're the best :)

Thank you, Peter! After I read your review, I went back and re-read No. 46. It made me laugh to think of it in textbooks, but I do see what you mean….

As for No. 47 – cheers. I rather like this poem, although it's more an exercise in words that an emotional plea, but most of my poems at this time are very emo. Maybe it's a nice break.

Thanks again!
