This year, I'm muddling through.

Some poems if I may - 1. Chapter 1

1.

April, you are my favorite;

don't tell the other months.

Your piles of white cumulus clouds,

deepened by grey trimmings,

make new green sway with bated breath

beneath portentous skies,

packed dense with a glorious storm.

Capricious, rebellious,

you're the mediator between

torpor and heat languor.

I declare this here, loud and clear,

this year it's only you.

2.

Sometimes we are multicolored facets,

parts of a whole,

that only becomes dull in the absence of light.

3.

If I use my voice,

the others find many words starting with un-:

uncouth, unbecoming, uncalled for, unpleasant, unfitting, untimely,

which is why I usually stay silent.

Until I break. Who am I?

4.

The thing only wants

praise, never criticize it,

or it lashes out.

Better walk away,

or it explodes and acid

words drip down your face.

There's no common ground,

a closed door means happiness

and a new start. Live!

5.

One foot before the other, slowly, no skipping, never run even though you need to hurry, want to hurry, spread your wings, wait no wings, ergo no flying, send your mind ahead instead.

Thank you, for reading my poems.

April is a glorious month full majestic storms and the miracles of new life. I loved these lines especially.

The riddle is quite challenging.  Riddles have always been a problem for me, so I will await the comments of others to enjoy the fun.  They all are great poems that bring enjoyment to me.

I liked your tribute to April very much. This year, she has been alternately frowning and exuberant. I thought your poem about facets losing their glow without light to be most apt. The riddle in the third poem is excellent. Number four is also enigmatic at first, but that made me reread it. How I wish some students could send their minds ahead as they worked on their proof problems!  Thanks for all of these.

Your love poem to April had me nodding, as did the facet one. That one was truly beautiful. #4 brought to mind "They know not what they do" but I guess I really don't believe it. "Acid words"... how many times are we left wondering why some need only adulation, their arrogance always ready to attack. It's sad, but your right about the 'closed door'. #5 spoke of eagerness and excitement to me... to run like a kid, but the urge needs tempered because of age. :)  I loved it. Even full of cold meds, I enjoyed these, Adi.
