Sky's The Limit - 17. Chapter 17

A wedding in a small town is a social event more than anything else, mainly because there's just not that much else to do. As weddings go in our town, this was a small one - somewhere between fifty to seventy-five family and guests. I knew the few distant cousins I hardly ever saw, and several of Dad's friends and clients. Of course all the people in his office and their families were there. The McGee's were also there as were Lori and her folks, and a few of our other former neighbors. There were people from Jessie's family that had been introduced to me, but I had no idea who they were, as well as some of her friends that I didn't know.

The only guest there that bothered me was Doug Morris. He was sitting next to the Tommy kid I met in Jessie's back yard at Thanksgiving. Dex and I were hanging around with the rest of the wedding party, waiting for things to get started, and I asked Dex, "What's Doug doing here?"

"Oh, I forgot to tell ya. Ya know that Tommy kid, Jason's best friend that my stupid sister likes?"

"Yeah?"

"Doug's his older brother, they've lived next door to Jessie and her kids for years."

"Shit!"

Well, the wedding went off as planned. It really was a nice service. I have to admit that Jessie did look very pretty in the gown she had selected. The reception hall was packed with well-wishers, but Jessie and Dad drove off only a few minutes later than planned. Sarah and I stayed and helped clean up at the church a bit. I said my good-byes to Sarah at the church and then David took Sky and me back to the house to change and load up our gear.

It was after midnight before we made it back to David's house. Sky told me David had just bought this house in Madison, another burb of Jackson, a few months ago. I couldn't tell much about the outside of the house when we got there, other than it was really big. Sky said the back yard joined onto a golf course. No wonder he told me to bring my clubs. Once we got inside, it was definitely big. David showed me into one of several spare bedrooms. Fortunately, it was connected to Sky's by a common bath. David's master suite was on the opposite side of the house and upstairs. Yes, privacy.

We were all tired and decided to turn in. David headed off upstairs saying that he would be sleeping in and then he and his buddies had a 1:00 tee time, and for us to fend for ourselves. That was fine with us. We headed to our rooms. I undressed down to my boxers and was pulling out my shaving kit when I heard Sky open the door. He was still dressed, just standing there at the door - looking at me, smiling.

"What?" I asked.

"You're so beautiful, and you're here, and you're all mine for the next five days."

"Nah, ya got it wrong. You're all mine."

"Maybe," he said as he came over and kissed me.

"You're room or mine?" I asked.

"Mine," he said. "I already stashed some lube and condoms in there."

"Well," I said somewhat sheepishly "I packed mine too." I said, pointing to the brown leather shaving kit I had just fished out of my duffle.

We locked the outer doors to both rooms and mussed my bed a bit just in case. We made love two or three different times that night before we finally drifted off. Waking up with Sky in my arms was even more special to me than the sex. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the sex. It was still getting better and more relaxed every time, but there was something about waking up and starting my day seeing his face and feeling his touch that just made me feel warm, safe, and loved.

He started to stir and his eyes opened. "I forgot to sing to you last night," he said.

"It's OK, I think we both passed out from an overdose of sex anyway."

"Yeah, great wasn't it?"

"You have to ask?" I replied with a chuckle.

"Nah, guess not. Whatcha wanna do?"

"Well as much as I would like to stay in the bed with you all day, guess that's not really an option. How ‘bout foodage? That Wendy's crap we stopped for in Tuscaloosa is long gone."

"Yeah me too. I think sexercise increases the appetite."

"Sexercise?" I laughed.

"Yah, sexercise. Need another demonstration?"

"Not before I go to the bathroom, besides, I'm a little sore."

"No pain no gain - see, sexercise," he laughed.

I kissed him as I got up and headed for the bathroom. He came in and started the shower while I was relieving my bladder. We showered together, dried and got dressed.

The kitchen was immense. Sky grabbed some sausage and biscuits out of the freezer and popped them in the microwave, and then grabbed a box of cereal and some bowls. After we ate breakfast I got the tour of the house.

Sort of like our new house, this one also had wings on either side of a courtyard and pool. Only this house was much larger. Next to the kitchen was a huge family room or den with an entire wall of windows that looked out onto the courtyard, as did the breakfast area that separated it from the kitchen. He took me toward the front of the house - there was a huge, and I do mean huge, foyer with a double sweeping staircase on either side. There was a huge dining room on the left with a big round table with high back chairs that reminded me of King Arthur or something, and to the right was a very formal living room.

Sky led me through the living room to another room surrounded by three windows. In the middle of that room sat a very nice mahogany Yamaha baby grand piano. A few formal chairs and a small sofa and marble topped tables were arranged around the room.

"Wow" was all I could say. I had seen movies with houses like this, but I had never been in one. "You're dad lives here all alone?"

"He entertains a lot" Sky explained. "He brings friends and clients in from all over the place. They'll play golf all weekend and stay in one of the guest rooms.

"Oh, that's cool I guess. What about the piano, who plays it?"

Sky laughed, "Nobody. You remember the whore that came to visit in Gulf Shores?"

I nodded. "Ya mean the one he's supposed to marry?"

"Not anymore," He chuckled. "She caught him fucking a couple of weeks ago, just like he did to Mom. Anyway, she was an interior decorator. Dad was still fucking her when he bought this place. She insisted this solarium had to be used as a ‘music room' and got him to drop fifteen grand on the piano. Of course she was getting a twenty percent commission on every piece of furniture he bought for this "mink-lined brothel" as my mom calls it. Mom knows that he provides whores for some of his better clients, and I've seen a few of them here on ‘the mornings after'" He said motioning his fingers like little quotation marks. "I have to admit though, the piano is pretty cool. There's a little black box under the right side of the keyboard. You put a CD in there and it plays whatever's programmed on the CD. You can also record your own stuff and let the piano play it back later."

"Cool. Think he would mind if I played it?"

"Mind, I wish you would. The keyboard's still virgin as far as I know. I don't think anyone's ever sat down and actually played it."

"Well, time to break it in then." I said, sitting down at the piano. "Is your dad still here?"

Sky walked out of the room, and came back a minute or two later. "Nah, his car's gone. He prob'ly went to the clubhouse for breakfast, then he'll hit a few on the range before he plays."

I started to play. I decided the room was so elegant, I had to do something classical. I started into a Beethoven's Sonata. I love Beethoven's sonatas, but only have one committed to memory.

"What's that?" Sky asked

"Beethoven's Sonata number 14 in C sharp. You've probably heard it called the Moonlight Sonata."

"I've never heard of it at all. It's a little depressing."

"It picks up a little towards the end," I said, chuckling a little.

He sat there patiently till I finished. I was really enjoying myself. It's not often I get play a brand new piano this nice, "That was really pretty, and you play beautifully, but play somethin' I know," he said.

"K, how about this" as I launched into Crocodile Rock and started singing it on the second verse. Sky joined in on the chorus. I played a few more songs he liked and I was really into his voice. He had this rich baritone thing he could do that was damn sexy.

"Do something for me, I sang my feelings to you the other night, it's your turn."

"Well, I have been working on one, I'm not sure I'm ready with it though."

"Play, Play," he said almost jumping up and down like a little kid. He shot me the puppy-dog begging thing with his eyes and a little pout. I knew I was going to sing the song.

"What's the song?" he asked with the same pleading look.

"It's the song that Lori heard me singing when she thought . . . I mean when I had to tell her about us. I told you that story."

"Yea, so what is it?"

"Ever heard of a singer/guitarist named Marc Broussard?" I asked.

"Yeah, I've heard of him. He's from Louisiana. I haven't heard much of his stuff though."

"I think you'll like this, but remind me to play his version for ya."

I started playing

"Oooh, aah," I started in the most bluesy voice I could find

There's a soft sweet space on the back of your neck
Smells like rain
There's a way you look at me baby
Heals my pain

Now I've studied every inch of your body
Baby, what's on your mind
The touch of your skin just pulls me in
Every single time

There's a silent conversation
Filled with hidden revelations in your eyes

Baby I'm so into you
Every whisper from your soul to my heart
Baby I know its true
You're a sweet little mystery sent to me from the stars
And that's the beauty of who you are . . .

* * *

At some point Sky had sat next to me on the piano bench. Like I said, I zone out when I play, especially one like this. I continued to sing to the end, but I was starting to tear up and was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish without choking up, but I did.

"Jonah, I really don't have words, that's so ... I mean those lyrics . . . It's perfect, I'm just . . ."

Tears were flowing down his cheeks. I kissed them, and then put my lips to his. He embraced me tightly. We sat like that for several minutes.

Our lips finally parted, we were just staring in each other's eyes.

"Jonah, I love you."

"I know, I love you too."
