Journey To Proxima Centauri b - Prologue. Prologue

"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"

NASA director Murray Ward watched the video of Centaurus 1's travel. Theoretically, the craft should have been able to attain the speed of three times light speed. It disintegrated at less than half that speed. Six months of research and billions of dollars were wasted. Perhaps not exactly wasted; lessons will be learned from the failure that can be addressed in future attempts.

Twenty years later, Centaurus 3 attained the speed of eleven times light speed. The time had come to send a manned mission to PC-b to determine the possibility of colonization. Earth was nearly used up and estimates of our sun burning out were measured in decades. Time was literally running out.

Billions of dollars wasted, money that would have been far better spent trying to repair the damage the human animal has done to the existing planet. But no, let's spend that money on trying to work out a way get to another planet so that we can overpopulate it too, rape and pillage its environment and any other non-human animals who may already exist there, all in the name of progress and some imaginary deity.  

As a collective we are the most stupid, egotistical and fucking selfish of all living things.
